For international attenders (attendees? whatever the word is) you have to call 00447930319119 (or + instead of 00 if you're calling from a mobile.

Hellooo, folks. Just bumping the thread and encouraging you to share new discoveries about the event as they arise.

Anybody know what Sean has going on at the end of April, and whether his showing up is AT ALL possible? Perhaps I've mentioned before: My daughter has a rather keen interest in - how does she put it? - "the HOT doctor!"

Also, watching the airfares rather closely and would appreciate any news of a fare war (oh pleez may there be a fare war, and soon!)

Hope to meet some of you at lunch Friday 29/4 !

Sean Harry has said that as things stand, all the guests have been announced. Sean Maher would only be a possible guest if someone else were to cancel at this stage.

Another announcement:
"At STARFURY: SERENITY, there will be a Fan Art Competition, allowing
attendees to showcase artwork related to the series.

Any art entered into this competition must be relevant in at least
one of three areas:-
1. The artwork is based around FIREFLY / SERENITY
2. The artwork is based around one of the guests attending the
convention
3. The artwork is Sci-Fi based

There will be three categories:-
1. Best Traditional Artwork. Entries in this category must be 2D art
that is done using traditional methods, such as pencil, pen & ink,
crayon, pastels, oils, water colours etc.
2. Best 3D Artwork. This would be a sculpture, diorama, model etc.
that is three dimensional in form.
3. Best CGI Artwork. This would be an image created using a computer.
It could be a photograph or image that has been manipulated, or an
image created and generated using computer. Images in this category
must be printed up. We won't have a computer there to display them.

Any artwork entered into the competition must be finished, and will
be displayed as given to us (e.g. we won't be putting them in frames;
you'd need to do that if you want it to be displayed that way).

We reserve the right to refuse to display any artwork that we deem to
be offensive or liable to case offence.

You must be happy for the artwork to be displayed publicly. We cannot
guarantee that all art will be displayed at all times; if the number
of entries is greater than the space available then we will rotate
the artwork on display throughout the day.

The convention will return all artwork at the end of the event, but
cannot take responsibility if it is damaged or lost while on display.

The guests will act as the judges. Their decision will be final and
prizes will be allocated accordingly.

Sean Harry"

Hope that helps.
Andy

So, perhaps if AB can't get away from his new gig, they might plug in Sean in his place?

I could live with that!

Thanks for the information :-) Art contest sounds great - there's so much talent among the Browncoat legions, I'm always astonished.

Can't wait for spring.
I'm starting to think seriously about costumes and how we'll pack for this trip. We can't bring costumes for EVERYTHING - we're on and off the trains to much and we'd be killing ourselves hauling the luggage.

Well, we have plenty of time to figure it out.

Art Compo sounds good, although I`m really a cut-and-paste man for PC artwork.

What about Costume/Fancydress competitions? Wouldn`t it be great to have a full crew lineup on the stage

Plans are a foot for a new captain on the scene - I plan to be in costume for at least the 1st day, I normally wear specs (can`t wear contacts), so, I`m going to be a little inovative & not wear them

Really looking forward to it - just got to wait for the ticket to come through now (told it takes upto 2 weeks)

Don't they usually have a Fancy Dress competition? Seems as if that would be automatic!

Absolutely, there should be recognition for the best look-alikes, however I think awards for costumes in each of the three announced Themes would be spectacular also. I've found a great site for vintage "wild west" closthes and I'm probably going to build my costume around one or two pieces from that store. I'd love to parade around as one of the Firefly crew but...well, I don't match up with anybody :-( The daughter could pull it off though.

If Sean doesn't announce formal contests, I'm sure there'll be informal competitions at least !

According to my schedule of events, on the Saturday they are having a video quiz, followed by a fancy dress competition.

I could probably pull off a Jewel LOL. Then again, I'm almost afraid to consider the idea of fancy dress, cause I know my friend who I'm going with is going to post pictures up on my college's common room wall.

I don`t worry about photos any more, last time I was in a costume it was for the 1st showing of Starwars Episode 1 at my local cinema the photo made up most of the front page on the local county paper!

I was the only one dressed as a jedi at the 1st showing but saw the film several times that day (pre-booked) & more people turned up in costume. we even staged a 3 way light saber fight in the foyer and we got 50% off our meal at Pizza Hut next to the cinema

So I don`t think it will be all that bad.

Darin (Zol.)

p.s. Don`t you mean Kaylee or do you mean Jewel out of character ?
