Yes, a lot of people are recovering from Xmas, getting ready for tomorrow. I'm sure the snow didn't help, either.

I think in some versions of the game you can play in one big group. But we break into smaller groups. 12 people means 3 tables with 4 players.

Some have company that managed to come in too and yes the weather definitely played into it.

It was dry today and the sun came out so it started to melt a little bit of the snow. It should be dry here tomorrow but Saturday a slim chance of snow then rain for the first week of January.

Have a good New Year's eve too, SIG and to your family as well.

This was supposed to be a la Nina year, but did we get rain this month!

This last storm we just had, the Santa Fe Dam (the closest official station to me) got about 3.5", and the storm before that it got almost 6". So far this month it got a bit over 9.5". But it's a few miles west of me which is closer to the ocean, and way up in the foothills, so it's probably not exactly representative of my location.

The next closest official station is further inland, and on flatland, which is Ontario (California, USA) International Airport which so far this month got 7.02".

I figure I'm somewhere between the 2. And it's still A LOT of rain for the month, a record month, from what I heard on the radio.

And right now, the hillside where I'm on is so wet in places the ground is loose mud that's over a foot deep. As much as we needed that rain, right now we need a break from it ... or I worry about the hillside coming down. This area doesn't get cleaned out regularly with a lot of rain, and it's laden with loose dirt, and hasn't been tested with rain like that, ever. So I'm happy to see that the next 10 days have a very slight chance of a small amount of rain falling, and we get to dry out.

My buddy and his dad came by and worked off a bit of that credit they owed me today.

We just installed a vinyl sheet floor in the kitchen.

It's the most expensive one they had, but I got a killer deal on it by buying a cutoff that was large enough for the room. It's a beautiful cobblestone pattern that made installing it a cinch compared to having to plan a layout with the standard faux tile grid pattern ones.

Once it was done, his dad who's been in the trades his entire life stepped back and couldn't stop talking about how great a job I did picking out the color scheme. Even the faux grout between the faux cobble stones matches the color of the non-accent wall perfectly and it all really makes those white cabinets pop.

This week's goal is to get the baseboard and door trim up, as well as build that half-wall between the stove and the blank space where the dishwasher used to be that now houses my garbage and recycle bins.

Then the only thing that still needs to be done is resurfacing the countertop.

I started this job a year ago this very day. So much work. So many photos to look through.

What a journey it's been.

We had our SECOND major rain event this month. THIS time my rain gage didn't get knocked over, and I measured 2 3/4" accumulation over two days. Between the first atmospheric river - which I estimated at 2" - the drizzle in-between, and the second, we must have accumulated over 5" of rain this month in my area. Woohoo!

The aquifer recharge basins and the 7 dams up and down the San Gabriel River must all be full by now. I saw geese flying to the aquifer recharge basin on Paramount Blvd for their evening rest after feeding on grasses at a nearby schoolyard.

Wow.

It sucks you're getting it all at once, but it's a good thing that you're getting all that rain, right?

I may be able to wrangle up a picture or two.

I'll probably wait until the trim and wall is built and installed first though. As great as it looks, I had them leave the stove on the boards we used to protect the floor from the stove and fridge so I could get that done. If we moved it back I'd use that as an excuse to not finish the work, and by having the stove three feet from the wall in the middle of the floor it will motivate me to get it done this week. My old man already told me when I'm ready just to give him a call and he'll help me move whatever I need to.

First thing I did when they left and I cleaned up was pick up a few throw rugs for the high traffic area. I want this floor to look just as good 15 years from now as it does today. They were on clearance and the colors match exquisitely.

Me too! That was the reason for the vaccine and booster.

Meanwhile, diligently looking after my, and family's health. Got a new neuro for dear daughter and hubby after their old one passed away, and THESE ones are pursuing their neuro issues more aggressively. Also got a referral to for hubby to a pain doc bc of longstanding pinched-sciatic nerve at L3-L4 and piriformis, which he will follow up on. Of course, continuing to provide healthful meals considering family food allergies, IBS, and blood sugar control. And learning that puppy-wuppy had such a dental caries issue (many teeth extracted) and seeing how she aged so suddenly, I'm transitoning her to a raw food diet and even got a doggie toothbrush and toothpaste (chicken flavored, if you can believe it!). So hoping to restore us all to better health in the coming year!

Summer has finally arrived, 37 yesterday - phew too hot for me, and my air con is not yet installed. Another hottish day today and then back down to the 20s for the rest of the week. Garden is locking a bit wilted as I was away for almost a week.

I'm going to foray into Ethiopian cooking. I used to work with an Ethiopian, and his wife ran a well-regarded restaurant before her business partner found a more lucrative job in hotel management and they closed the business.

She was a FANTASTIC cook, and did occasional catering from home, and I got a taste for Ethiopian food. I'm going to start with red lentils with berbere spice. Not up to making injira, so I'll have to start with naan or some other flatbread, and not ready to make spicy chicken stew (doro wat) so I'll start with something I CAN make (tandoori chicken) and not ready to make kitfo, but I CAN make prime rib, so it's going to be something of a mixed bag but I think it's going to be great!

Gonna have to buckle down and do some cutting on the table saw in the frigid cold, I'm afraid. Otherwise, from the weather reports, it looks like I'd have to wait at least a month before getting started on finishing my kitchen.

I think I've got my half-wall under the cabinet figured out. I still haven't figure out if I want to put some sort of legs under it that would be hidden by trim. It's going on top of the sheet vinyl and shouldn't be wedged in there, but at the same time I don't want it to float either since any heavy weight on the countertop offshoot is going to be supported by that wall. It's fine for putting regular countertop stuff on it... even a microwave, but when I was doing work there I kept leaning to hard on it and hearing small cracking noises because I forgot it didn't have good support anymore.

After that I can trim baseboard around the stove and finally get that back into place.

I'm only going to do the baseboard behind the fridge after putting the door casing up for now too. I still haven't figured out how I'm going to build the overlook to the basement yet and any trim I put up now would almost certainly be too long or too short. But at least I'll get the stuff done that I need to so I can have my appliances back where they've got to go.

I think I'm going to make some measurements to buy some of that hardboard I used for the sides of the cabinets that needed it as well as the bottom of the broken drawer. I think when I have my stove and fridge back in place, I want the wheels and legs resting on top of hardboard that is cut so you can't really notice it but wide enough to protect the floor.

I've made some pretty good Middle Eastern dishes, my falafels are pretty good. Shawarma is on the list of "thing to try". Tried some Morrocan dishes, haven't quite got the hang of that yet, but working on it.

So many tasty traditions out there! It's fun to try them!

Well,I did a trial run today, and there are things I would change.

But first, bc of my altered sense of taste, I'm not the one to judge how close it comes to Belai***'s cooking.

So, I would not use red lentils again. They're very small, don't stand up to cooking bc they turn into mush. I was looking for something with more body.

Mainly, I was disappointed in the commercial berbere spice. It was too "sharp" and "dry"... too much cardamon perhaps... not enough aromatic/sweet/savory notes. It was definitely too hot for dear daughter! As I recall B's cooking, while it was spiced it wasn't necessarily hot.

So, I know there are as many different versions of berbere as there are cooks, but this was not as expected. There is another spice that is used- a finishing spice with cinnamon and sweeter spices. Perhaps that would be the thing to add, and reduce the berbere.

I was hoping for a bright red color. Didn't get that either! Possibly another thing would be to add some sweet paprika.

I would definitely use more tomato paste, and cook the onions, roast peppers and tomato longer, to a smoother consistency, and add the lentils later to preserve the lentil form. And add the spices to the veggy, NOT, the lentils, to give more time for the flavors to blend during cooking

Overall, hubby liked it, but- like I said, not as I expected. Needs more work.

Yeah. I haven't done anything with it yet. I haven't adjusted to the cold weather yet since it's been unseasonably warm up until 3 days ago and the bottom fell out. Going to be zero tomorrow night around here.

So I managed to get on my feet today, and did a kitchen cleanup. Still not trusting myself on my feet enuf to walk the dog, but I will go out with dear daughter and try to build back some muscle and strength.

Did a quick dinner yesterday, since I had leftover roast pork in the freezer. Hubby had a very southern dinner: pulled pork, onion rings and (tried something new) oven "fried" okra, which he really liked and went back for seconds.

Dear daughter not partial to tomato, so she had "fried" rice (really, just rice and mixed veggies with Teriyaki-style sauce) and pork, satay style. She didn't care for the "fried" okra, altho she likes okra in soup.

Today I think I'll do another easy dinner: beef stew, since the beef is already trimmed and cut. I'll save the complicated dinner for some other day.

IDK about you, but I hate snow, and ice. I know the planet has to pay for green plants somehow, so, theoretically, snow, and ice, are good things. I just truly dislike them, personally.

Today I cooked some ground pork - in a covered small pot, in a 325F oven to cook the grease out - and ate it plain for brunch, with some coffee. I probably should have thrown on some ketsup, the amazing Ronald Reagan vegetable.

I don't mind walking on just snow but when ice is under it or covering the sidewalks then I don't like walking on it. I had my cane with me today and I will tomorrow.

So I managed to get on my feet today, and did a kitchen cleanup. Still not trusting myself on my feet enuf to walk the dog, but I will go out with dear daughter and try to build back some muscle and strength.

Did a quick dinner yesterday, since I had leftover roast pork in the freezer. Hubby had a very southern dinner: pulled pork, onion rings and (tried something new) oven "fried" okra, which he really liked and went back for seconds.

Dear daughter not partial to tomato, so she had "fried" rice (really, just rice and mixed veggies with Teriyaki-style sauce) and pork, satay style. She didn't care for the "fried" okra, altho she likes okra in soup.

Today I think I'll do another easy dinner: beef stew, since the beef is already trimmed and cut. I'll save the complicated dinner for some other day.

Glad to hear you're up and about. Don't push yourself too hard.

Finally announced to the neighborhood that I haven't done anything in 4 days by snowblowing the driveway. Should have done it yesterday when it was slightly above freezing instead of today when it was -8 with the wind chill. I didn't even realize halfway into it that despite wearing two pairs of gloves I couldn't feel any of my fingers in my left hand and when I took a break to let them thaw out it was the most painful thaw in my memory. I'm glad I noticed it when I did, but I don't know how I didn't notice it sooner.

My bud came by and saw the house for the first time since before I finished the cabinets. He's been super busy this year and hasn't had the time to come around for a while, but I needed his vehicle to pick up something I need for the kitchen and he made some time for me.

Too late in the day to start anything now, but hopefully I get something done tomorrow.

It just dawned on me what I'm going to do with a bulk of that kitchen flooring cutoff. It should be perfect to resurface both my coat closet and the pantry.

We order a lot of stuff online, and apparently it's my job to cut up/ recycle the boxes and packages. Since I hadn't done that for a while, it kind of built up but I managed that today, along with kitchen cleanup and dinner prep. Tomorrow I'll sort the mail and maybe plant those herb seeds that came in. And come up with a) menu b) grocery list and c) dinner.

I think I can manage that.

He's not the Oooh and Ahhh type. It was interesting though, seeing what he immediately noticed, and what he was completely oblivious to.

I didn't realize he hadn't been there after the cabinets were finished because he immediately reached for them and watch the soft close and was impressed. But as we sat down in the livingroom that had a complete makeover, he didn't even remember that there were holes all over the walls from old frames and window dressings, cracks all over the ceiling and the walls by the doors and windows, and that the colors of that room used to be a gross green and a gross yellow and were now cool grey. He said himself he's not very observant.

Obviously, he noticed the porch from the outside and how much better it looks with the windows.

Yeah. I'm going to take the old quarter round off as well as the beat up tiles in both closets before I start painting them, and when I'm done I'll put the flooring in and decide if I want to put the quarter round back up.

All these plans, but it's so freaking cold in the house I can't seem to get myself motivated right now. It will warm up a tad this weekend. Not above freezing, but at least it won't be sub-zero at night for a while except for a dip again on Monday night. We were having a pretty nice winter up until after Christmas, but it's a lot colder right now than it was last year at this time.

Finally cut that half-wall for under the countertop next to the stove. 12 degrees outside today for the high, so it was probably somewhere around there while I cut it by hand in the garage. I don't feel confident in the quality of the existing blade in the table saw to cut MDF, so had to use a hand saw for the job.

Managed to prime it and the finish pieces as well as get one coat of paint on one side. Calling it quits for the day now. I got started late, but at least I did something.

If I stick with the plan, I should probably be able to get the wall installed on Sunday and at least get the baseboard up behind the stove.

If things go right, the half-wall should be installed tomorrow. I ended up brainstorming an idea for some brackets to help mount the thing to the wall and the top of the cabinet (while using wedges to put upward pressure from the bottom while not attaching it at all to the floor).

This required me to go out to the garage and find some suitable wood pieces for the job. They weren't ideal, but I wasn't going to go out and pay Biden* prices for wood right now, so I had a few 1"x2" pieces I'd saved while doing the porch tear down. After sanding them down, breaking the edges and using some wood putty in the screw holes, I got them primed and painted twice and they should be perfect for the job.

I still haven't decided on what the best way to mount all of these together will be. I was considering attaching one or both of them to the wall first with some liquid nails and clamping action, but given how tight a fit it already is I think I'd risk breaking one or both of them off while trying to get it in there. I think it would be best probably to get the wall where it's going to go first, then glue and attach the two brackets to the wall and underneath the countertop as well as the half-wall all in one go, and rely on the brad nails to hold it all in place until the glue dries.

I'm sure whatever I do it will work out fine. I'm just a bit apprehensive about all of this now since I don't want to damage the floor in any way.

One good thing is that my days of living like a pig should not be completely over. It had already been trending that way for quite some time with all the other work being done, but now that I don't have a hideous and consistently dirty sub-floor that I didn't give a crap about in the kitchen, even doing something as mundane as washing dishes requires me to make sure that I'm keeping water from splashing out and making sure to clean the floor immediately if anything gets on it.

Boy, I sure do wish I had a slop sink in the basement though. I've always hated not having one (or anywhere to install it, for that matter), but now I'm really wishing I had a better place to wash off my paint brushes when I'm done painting.

Got the half-wall installed with the brackets before my aunt stopped by. I'm not about to try to kick it or anything, but it seems pretty freakin solid now that it's all had a few hours to dry. best part is that anywhere there's a brad nail will not be visible once the stove is back in place, so I'm just going to caulk them when I caulk the brackets and everything to the wall and not even bother with any touch up paint.

All I've got to do now is get the baseboard painted and cut, and the cut my hardboard floor protector to size and I can finally have my stove back where it belongs on a nice, clean finished floor.

Baseboards' up. I also trimmed out the front of the half-wall panel. Unfortunately, there was a little collateral damage since I'm still not a pro with my battery operated brad nailer and I think I had the power set too high. Nothing I can't fix, but it will require some painting in the kitchen over the new floor that I was hoping to avoid. It'll be fine.

Going to sleep on the idea of fleshing out the bottom of the sides of the garbage can nook with baseboard. I like how it looks with just the baseboard in the back on the wall, but by not having it in there I'm potentially allowing any stray liquid to get back and under the floor if I leave it as-is. But if I put it up, I'm shrinking the surface area of that by another half-inch or so, and it's already 3/4" of an inch narrower than I had originally planned since I decided not to put the half-wall panel directly on the end of the countertop next to the stove and leave a 3/4" reveal. (I should have decided that from the start after seeing how damaged the original was from grease over the years because it was butt up right against the stove).

This won't really be too much of a problem though since even without the baseboard I'm going to be too narrow to use my two existing trash cans for both trash and recycling. I'm going to have to buy some narrower cans. That's fine though. I've been using those things for 10 years now and they're kind of showing their age. I can always use one out in the garage and I'll put the other in the basement. I'm always doing work in both of those spots and although I have the street cans in the garage, it's always a hassle throwing random things out in the basement with no can down there.

I'll probably spring for some nice ones that are black instead of white. I'm liking how my black microwave and coffee pot look against all the white. Eventually down the road I think I'll need to get a black stove and fridge whenever they break and need to be replaced.

But now I recall that yesterday 40 people got stranded on an ice shelf which detached and blew almost a mile away in the Bay of Green Bay. 5 agencies had to assist in the rescue.

Well... moving the stove is going to be a lot easier than I thought it would be with proper platforms underneath it. I won't even need to have my dad over here for that part. My plan to put cutouts of hardboard permanently under the stove and fridge should do a great job at future-proofing the floor.

I might decide to take the pads off the legs, but I'm not sure yet. I can tilt the stove to the side to slide the current boards further away from the wall one at a time so I can make room to put the full piece down when I'm ready, but if I'm not careful the pads will allow the legs to slide off and onto the floor. I'm not sure if it would not slide without the pads though, and if I didn't have them on there that would end up with the plastic legs in back or the metal legs in front digging on an angle into the floor if they were to slide off.

Hopefully though, once I have my semi-permanent piece in, whenever I'm moving it out to clean behind it I should just be sliding it forward and not lifting it on its sides. I only have to do that now because we left it way too close to the wall to do the rest of the work that needs to be done back there.

On the other side, I forgot how bad the kitchen door jamb was and that I never finished working on it. There's a lot of wood putty I put up half a year ago that needs to be sanded down, and I'll still have to do some more repairs to it. I'm hoping for now I can do just enough to install the door trim without damaging it with work in the future, because otherwise I might have to just put the piece of baseboard behind the fridge for now. It's absolutely frigid on the back porch right now, and I can't have that door open while working or my gas bill is going to be $400 this month.

I'll figure something out.

Haven't been posting much in here bc I've been busy trying to regain strength and do ordinary household chores, and keep up with various side effects.

Yesterday I managed to walk the dog for her usual 1/2 mile, but my legs were so shaky I had to hold dear daughter's hand for the last half-block. Still unsteady on my feet.
You don't want to read about the rest of it, I'm sure. It's all pretty gross.

Then I managed to burn a pot of soup. Don't ask me how THAT happened. But I also managed to sort the mail and, over a few days, collect up ALL of the boxes and recycling and get that all binned up for today, so the livingroom no longer looks like a shipping/receiving office. I can look around and see that I accomplished something. Plus the usual kitchen cleanup.

Today. Sigh. I just want to stay in bed.

That was kind of my explanation to myself: pptn occurs at fronts, where two air masses collide and one forces the other up vertically. But if you're smack-dab in the middle of a cold air mass, you're unlikely to encounter another air mass of ANY kind ... either colder OR warmer... so no pptn occurs. Correct?

I don't have a favourite temp JSF. But I am no fan of the cold now that I am getting older.

Those temps may not be cold for where you are but they are for Southern BC.

And the bit about warming up to snow was what my dad always told me and he was from cold, snowy Southern Alberta.

Too cold and the sky won't do anything, warms up and you get snow, warms up more and you get rain. Which is what we will be getting this week.

I heard about the people being rescued from the ice. Didn't say what they were doing on the ice. I guess they wanted to see if they could walk on it.

So, I usually put out some valuable recyclables - clean cardboard, CRV's and such like. But someone's been thieving them out of my recycle-bin, which is in the alley. That's been kind of irritating, becasue the waste hauler makes money on recycling, and the money they don't make comes out of the fee we get charged.

But THEN, rather than return the valueless recycling to the bin, they've been leaving it out in the alley, and that makes a real mess I end up having to pick up. And that's gotten REALLY annoying! So I just now changed my pickup location from the alley to out on the street. Hopefully that very visible, very public location will slow down the thieving and mess-making.

Think there was snow for my area last winter but not as much and the storms weren't as bad either.

All outside chores done for today and as I said much warmer. Didn't need to wear gloves or my boots today. Also got some garbage taken down as I have been putting it off for just a little bit.

I don't have a favourite temp JSF. But I am no fan of the cold now that I am getting older.

Those temps may not be cold for where you are but they are for Southern BC.

And the bit about warming up to snow was what my dad always told me and he was from cold, snowy Southern Alberta.

Too cold and the sky won't do anything, warms up and you get snow, warms up more and you get rain. Which is what we will be getting this week.

I heard about the people being rescued from the ice. Didn't say what they were doing on the ice. I guess they wanted to see if they could walk on it.

The folks on the ice were Ice Fishing. Spread out over the whole shelf. Those nearest the crack were able to jump across quick, abandoning their fishing gear. But those who ran from farther found a 10 foot gap, and were stranded.

After my second bout with covid, I don't feel warm much anymore. I used to be a furnace all the time. No gradual change of body thermostat for me, covid sucked the warmth right out of me. I used to wear shorts all winter, down to about -10F or else when fresh snow was taller than my socks. Now wearing long pants, jeans since at least mid-Nov or so. Now that days are growing longer, temps are dropping.

That's cold and no thank you on the ice. Just got rid of all that nasty ice on the sidewalks around here.

Think there was snow for my area last winter but not as much and the storms weren't as bad either.

I hope you are right. I'm just glad that my area is warming up to more normal temps.

Yesterday, my aunt and I decided that she wouldn't be bringing my grandma with her when she came by to pick up some phones and a new laptop battery I got for them. It was a good thing too, because I had no idea my entire driveway had turned into an ice rink the night before. My grandma fell trying to leave my house the day after Christmas when it was totally dry, and had I not been right behind her to catch her and have her land on top of me it might have been a nightmare. She still managed to get bruised up from that one. We don't even know what happened. I think her legs just gave out.

Finished the work and got my stove back in place, so I can finally cook some real food tonight.

I'm really glad I thought to make those platforms for the appliances out of the hardboard. At least for the stove, it works great. I was easily able to slide the stove back onto the base from the strips of hardboard my friends old man let me borrow on my own without any assistance and without any damage to the floor. I was also able to easily adjust the legs to the height I wanted the stove without damaging anything, which I can't even imagine how I'd do it if it were on the new flooring.

For now, I'm only going to be focusing on cutting the exact length of baseboard I'll need behind the fridge and making the fridge platform tomorrow so I have the appliances taken care of.

I'll worry about fixing and painting that door jamb another day when it's warmer so I can get the door trim installed on the entry door.

In the mean time, I have a coat closet and a pantry to get working on so I can put the new flooring in them.

I always recommend Boost, never ensure. I say against ensure, unless it has some specific useful purpose.

Boost for humans or pets who need nutrients. It's a delivery package for vitamins and minerals. Pet's who have had their teeth pulled and lost appetite, for toy dogs 1/3 of an 8oz bottle per day.
For people to repair, rebuild muscle, bone, tendons, ligaments, skin. If your muscles are expected to be sore tomorrow, a Boost before bed will reduce or erase that soreness. Boost supplies the vite & min, sleep at night is the time.
Boost is not really help for GI issues, flu, etc.

I say only get the "original" Boost, although Nestle recently abandoned the formula there had been for more than 50 years. Not protein, glucose, women's, or other nasty crap that Nestle has screwed up.

Well, that a dumb thing for your phone to do.

Gotcha now about that story. Like I said the news didn't say what they were doing on the ice.

People ice fish up here as well. Vancouver and a couple of other cities had to put signs out around their lakes to try to keep people off of them because the ice wasn't really thick enough for walking or skating on.

Hey Sigs... I've got some pictures for you.

WARNING!!!!! The first 4 pictures are when I first freed the stove from the confines of the tiles that had been glued down around the front stove legs... That hadn't probably been cleaned once in 25 years or more before I got to it, and you already know that I had mice problems at one point to boot.

As gross as they are, I think I really need to post them first just so you get an idea of what I started with and where I'm at today.

Behind the stove...
It took me half a day to safely clean this up without getting a disease.
(And yes... That is a dead mouse)

I took down the horribly grease damaged half-wall to begin freeing the dishwasher. It was just as filthy on top as it was on the floor. I actually did bleach the hell out of it and get it sparkling before I decided whether or not to try to keep it.

Well... Not one single thing about the water supply, drainage or electric was up to code. Made that choice easy. I hate dishwashers anyhow.

Fast forward to today...

After completing everything back there, I cut out my hardboard panel for the stove to rest on and got everything aligned for the final push.

And there's my new nook for my garbage bins...

All I need to do from this angle now is get my friend's dad over here to help me resurface the countertop. I'm thinking very dark grey tiles, or maybe even black.

What do you think?

ETA: Oh yeah... I still have to build and paint the two drawers that were non-existent and just fake panels. Shouldn't take too long once I can get one more suitable drawer for the task. I've got one that is the perfect size box. When I get another, all I'll have to do is fabricate the drawer face and then I'll put all of my drawer pulls on all 4 drawers.

My problem is that I have a slow thyroid which is why I take meds for it now and have since a few years after the brain surgery. The tumour messed up a lot of body's internal systems and my thyroid was one that never worked right again.

She'll allow it. I think up until that point I didn't want to assist her, even though I'd hover closely around her anytime stairs were involved just in case. She needs to get exercise after that hip surgery a few years ago and she just won't do it. The doctor said she could have walked without a cane if she did, but she needs two of them to get around now.

But after that fall, I'm not taking any chances anymore. Until she starts exercising I've got to be supporting her from now on.

Sorry about the gross pics, but I don't think anybody could truly believe how bad it was unless they saw them.
