I don't know. Maybe, maybe not.

I think once people see Toilet Paper back on the shelves and Tom Hanks and his wife are announced as recovered from the illness things are going to slowly start going back to normal.

My guess would be that this is as bad as it's going to get, and it's just going to maintain this level for a while until things settle down.

At the end of the day, outside of a few opportunists out there, it has been a nice break from politics in general. At least there's that.

There's likely a lot of booze piling up in distribution centers all over the country because all the bars are closed, liquor stores (that aren't state run) may be ordering extra. I won't be surprised if the prices go down like the price of gas just to move it.

Maybe the bootleg liquor won't all be made in somebody's bathtub and some of that stuff is going to start "leaking" out into the wild.

If they're going to start enforcing Martial Law all over the country, the authorities might have their hands too full making sure that law abiding citizens are staying inside to be cracking down on people getting the booze out to the citizens when the state won't do it.

I'd expect the prices to go up, if anything.

Locally where bars / restaurants are shut down, pick up and delivery of food and liquor has been approved. So at least there's that. I hear lots of folks talk about stocking up on booze and such, but to be honest, I don't see the point. You're not hosting any parties. save for possibly small gatherings of friends or family. Personally, I don't have any stocks of alcohol to speak of. Maybe once all this is over, I'll consider it, but I've 1 beer in 2020 so far and not even given it a 2nd thought. Kinda over drinkin, to be honest. Just don't see the point.

Good for you, bud. Quitting drinking was probably the best decision I ever made. Definitely in the top 3 anyhow.

Stockpiling liquor doesn't make any less sense than hoarding toilet paper though. People are strange. I don't think you really get the idea of how strange they are until something like this happens and shakes their worlds up a bit though.

There is going to be so much perishable food thrown out in the coming weeks because of all the stuff that was hoarded that is going to go bad before they could ever possibly finish it. I can't even imagine how many families right now are sitting on a mountain of toilet paper that is going to take them 5 to 10 years to go through.

I had my paranoia/hoarding phase 15 or so years ago back when nobody was doing any of this. I'm trying my best not to be too judgemental of everyone right now.

In the mean time, I've got about 6 months of toilet paper on hand and didn't buy any in the last week since I always have a reasonable amount of necessary goods on hand. In the case that 6 months from now I still can't buy toilet paper in the stores, well... we're probably all fucked if that's the case and wiping our ass with TP is probably going to be the last concern on most people's minds. But in the near infinitesimal chance that is actually the case, I would still have about a year's worth of paper towel to wipe with.

Just gotta make sure I don't flush that down the toilet out of habit if that day ever comes.

If I can't go watch a live band or enjoy some time at a bar, what's the point? And to be honest, I don't need a depressant that clouds my judgment or my mood during all this. And save for a nip here or there, it's not healthy, so hard pass on the booze. At least for a while.

2021 to 2022 will see some of the most massive flops, the worst turkeys the biggest box-office bombs

Some films are kinda considered flops even though they made money, total costs for Waterworld (1995) exceeded $300 million and it was perceived as a disaster at the time, despite grossing $264 million worldwide, The Fall of the Roman Empire in 1964 lost tens of millions adjusted for inflation it would be 100 + million, Justice League, The Chronicles of Riddick, the animated Mars Needs Moms, Stealth, the Fantastic Four Reboot and Green Lantern lost about 100 million each.
Some films that flopped at the cinema would later go on to be cult hits on VHS or DVD or top downloads.

So an industry in one State finally dies

Will another State pick it up, before Hollywood it used to be Film In Florida, first film studio moved there in 1908

if no other State picks it up?

Time to pack your bags and move to Korea, Brazil, Sweden or Taiwan if you want a job in film, the arts, music, tv or the movie entertainment industry?

Last week was the first time the little theater down by my brother showed a new movie since this all started.

They tried staying afloat for a while showing old movies, but eventually quit doing that because nobody was showing up. I'd love to talk to somebody there and ask them what movies they were showing. The only one I know for sure is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I would have paid $5 to see that in the theater... at least the original one.

But I get the feeling that trying to get the rights to show any more current and popular films in there was just too prohibitively expensive and the list probably got much worse than C&CC.

I hope they survive this. I love that little theater.
