Not sure...don't think video-game inspired stuff make serious movies
now I'm not saying they couldn't be good movies but 'video game' material usually they dont make good movies
I dont think I ever much totally enjoyed Movies that came from the video game or I dont think I ever Loved Films that were inspired by Video Game although one Tomb Raider, Dungeon Siege thing was on tv for a while and Resident Evil was on tv and they were kinda ok-ish, the Resident Evil might be the best of them.
I think there's an old B-movie Double-Dragon or something and its ok Robert Patrick from Terminator, Faculty, TV Series actor is in it and it can be ok if you turn off your brain and just watch it for goofy writing and the slapstick bizzare action scenes.

I'm still trying to figure out the decline, maybe there was a decline with Bush but then Bush and Obama bailed out the economy and printed Trillions, it definitely started to decline at the end of Obama and then you had an era of Trump...orange man offends, he must be censored and everything offensive. Sony was buying out studios like MGM, and Maybe it was in decline 2015, 2016...however in all the madness Hollywood still made money Avengers Endgame is a 2019 hit. Then came Covid and DEI and SJW which might be the nail in the coffin.
What has changed, gaming and cards and gardening and dungeons and dragons got big again.
Japan is back with cartoons like it was big in the 80s and early 90s, US audience have access to Bollywood films even watch movies from Latin America or Europe with subtitles and streaming South Korea tv has become a thing.
