Michigan AG warns on election fraud claims: A false claim of criminal activity is a crime

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel (D) warned on Monday that a false claim of criminal activity, including election fraud, is itself a crime.
Through a tweet, Nessel responded to former state Sen. Patrick Colbeck’s (R) comments during a Michigan Board of State Canvassers meeting that ended with the state’s election results being certified.
Colbeck faced questions during the meeting about whether he had brought his allegations of voter fraud to the state attorney general.
Nessel confirmed in her Twitter thread that Colbeck “has never made a complaint of election fraud” to the Michigan attorney general’s office.
“If he had, we would have fully investigated said claim,” she said.
“Colbeck’s assertions aside, intentionally making a false claim of criminal activity to law enforcement is itself a crime,” Nessel continued. “It’s been my experience that is often the reason certain reports are not made.”

None of them will appropriately send these bogus claims to the AG’s office because they know they would be committing a crime by doing so.
This whole voter fraud bullshit is all a show. If they really believed it then they would send it to the AG’s office and they would have a shred of fucking evidence when Trump’s lawyers show up in court.

A group of Michigan voters has also filed a lawsuit against Trump and his campaign, arguing that "defendants are openly seeking to disenfranchise Black voters," including those in Detroit.

More often than not, time buffed the sharp edges off the legal system, and cushioned its consequences. Trump benefited from the same turtle pace of our legal system throughout his presidency. Whether it was slow-moving litigation over the fact that his close associates—like Don McGahn and, relatedly, John Bolton—ignored valid congressional subpoenas and requests, or the endless lawsuits over Trump’s financial documents that are still bogged down in the chutes and ladders of the federal court system, it’s been occasionally maddening to witness the contrast between the glacial pace of a justice system that demands slow and deliberative consideration of facts and the high-speed mayhem one person can wreak if he is inclined to ignore facts, invent new facts, and thus persistently remain 10 steps ahead of any accountability.
There is something to be said for the slow pace of the legal system because this week, despite all the money and all the awful so-called lawyers and all the bluster and denial and out-and-out insanity of his “elite strike force,” Trump’s ability to beat the legal system purely by overwhelming or outlasting or outpacing it finally ended. The Supreme Court is still sitting on the same Pennsylvania challenge it’s been nursing for weeks, a federal appeals court in Pennsylvania is sitting on another, suits around the country continue to fare spectacularly poorly—and it doesn’t matter. Michigan has certified the election for Biden, as have Nevada and Pennsylvania. The screaming and the threats and the bad lawyering will continue apace for a while still, but time itself seems to have solved the greatest threat to an orderly transition of power.

The attention would be offered by the media as he careens around the country conducting campaign-style rallies that would draw crowds eager to hear his insult-laden oldies -- "Crooked Hillary" and "Socialist Democrats" -- and new material aimed both at President-elect Joe Biden and anyone who might challenge Trump in a prospective Republic primary.
Money could flow to Trump if he sells tickets to his rallies and reaps profits from sales of official merchandise. More could come in the form of donations to political action committees that he would control. The President has already sent out numerous email and text-message fundraising pitches for a committee called Save America.

As UT Law Professor, Steven Vladek said, “Never in my life did I think that I’d see elected officials in the United States acting in such nakedly, indefensibly anti-democratic ways — and blatantly lying about why. But a Supreme Court challenge isn't likely to succeed, according to former acting U.S. Solicitor General Neal Katyal, a frequent advocate before the high court. "It's hard to imagine a stronger smackdown," Katyal said on Twitter. The 3rd Circuit "has totally destroyed Trump's claims in Pennsylvania," Katyal added, calling the ruling "devastating."
"I went to school with Judge Bibas," Katyal said. "He didn't suffer fools gladly then. He's very conservative, but that is the point: True conservatives see this lawsuit for what it is — a baseless attack on our democracy."
