Also, Week 10 marks the first sub Million week for Episode 9.
Though the chances are very slim, it might be possible that Episode 9 doesn't even pull in as much as Joker did in total at the box office if it's pulled from the theaters early enough. Wouldn't that be nuts?
Right now, it's pulled in $1,069,618,821.
Joker's total haul was $1,073,624,800.
The international totals show Joker blowing out Episode 9 by over $180 Million. If it wasn't for the negative Liberal press in America, it probably would have at least done as well in the US and killed Episode 9.
All that being said, Episode 9's (alleged) production budget was $220 Million more than Jokers was, and no doubt the marketing budget was insane compared to Joker's.
Without taking the unknown marketing budgets into account, as of March 1st, Joker has still made 224 Million more than Episode 9 did when you count the production budgets.

Actually.....
Now that I run the numbers, there's actually a pretty damn good chance that Joker ends up beating Episode 9 at the box office without even taking the production budgets into account.
If Episode 9 follows the trajectory that Joker did after it's first sub Million week, it can't possibly make the 4 Million it needs to beat Joker.
In Week Eleven, Joker made $743,094. In Week Ten, Episode 9 made $762,516.
But from Week Twelve through Week Twenty One (the most up to date figures for Joker), it only pulled in an additional $2,103,000. That also includes a big resurgence in Week Sixteen that was over $550,000 compared to the previous weeks $100,000 due to the Oscar hype, and three weeks after that which saw it higher than Week Sixteen as well. Episode 9 will NOT see this happen.
The best it can hope for is a much slower fall after its first sub million weekend and at least 20 weeks before it is removed from all theaters.
Not. Very. Likely.

Mark the date. Because if I'm right about Joker's Box Office beating Episode 9's, I'm dropping that bomb weeks before the YouTube nerds even had it in their head.

Disney owns 20th Century Fox Animation. Fox made "Spies in Disguise" for $100 million, but worldwide box office is only 1.7 times production budget. It is a stinker.

Disney does not know what will be a good movie when all it has is a script to decide to go ahead and make the movie. Disney should switch to Pixar's method - make the movie then remake if it stinks. Once the smell has been completely dissipated then it is time to release a Pixar movie. Disney doesn't do that. If a Disney movie stinks while it is a script, it will stink when it is released. Disney must believe it can spray Febreze fabric refresher with Lavender and Disney Scent to kill the odor.

2) Months later, after reading the excellent script Disney started preparations to film, then stopped work, I really knew Disney had screwed up:

The Emperor in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Was a Clone, According to the Novelization

When the news broke that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker would feature the return of Emperor Palpatine, it didn’t take long for Star Wars superfans to come up with a plausible backstory to explain how he got there. Here’s the basic timeline: A few years after Palpatine fell down a shaft on the second Death Star during the Battle of Endor at the end of Return of the Jedi, a growing ethnofascist movement on Earth figured out how to harness fan culture and the rise of social media to recruit and train a new generation of Nazi stooges. After honing their powers during Gamergate, this ragtag band of white supremacist morons turned their attention on the Star Wars franchise, and were such relentless shitheads about the whole thing that they convinced senior management at the Walt Disney Company that Star Wars fans were liddle widdle babies who just wanted to be told the exact same stories about the exact same space wizards over and over and over again, which made Emperor Palpatine’s resurrection at the hands of Sith cultists on the planet Exegol more or less inevitable.
The definitive explanation for Sheev Palpatine’s long journey from “middle-aged senator from the Planet Naboo” to “physical embodiment of a corporation that has run out of ideas” is found in Rae Carson’s upcoming novel The Rise of Skywalker: Expanded Edition (Star Wars).

There's is no way this mess can be fixed, it's totaled. It's like Disney Corp dropped a wreaking ball on it. It's likely why Spielberg walked away from Indiana Jones, he didn't want his name connected to that future steaming bucket of puss.

Quote:Will you never stop bitching about female Jedi Knights? Disney had a perfectly good script, Duel_of_the_Fates. They didn't make that version of Star Wars 9 because Carrie Fisher died, but has Disney not heard of recasting a role when an actor is unavailable? Does Disney not know about how to make the replacement actor look like the character? Did Disney really need to wait 8 months to decide what to do about it? The Disney decision-makers are idiots and it is not because they added women warriors to Star Wars. They are idiots because Duel_of_the_Fates was a good script and The Rise of Skywalker was a crap script, but Disney picked the crap script to make -- which makes Disney look like idiots.

And her kiss with Kylo was mere gratitude, not romantical.
FFS, SW is now a dumpster fire.
But Dr Who died worse, imo.
