The marketing and Brie Larson are definitely a different story. I'm just saying the movie itself was fine. It wasn't a great movie by any means but it was entertaining. The most ridiculous part of it was playing "I'm just a girl" during the big final fight scene. That was cheesy as hell.

It will be interesting to see how Marvel handles the character now. I don't think the character is very popular. She's got the superman problem that was already mentioned. However, Disney pinned a lot of hype on her being their first female hero to get her own movie. So, they can't abandon her without taking some heat. So, they're going to have to figure out a strategic way to keep her around but not to the point where people walk away.

Kinda like how Disney gave Kathleen Kennedy a contract extension right in the middle of her destroying a multibillion dollar franchise. They are trying to keep up a public stance that everything is fine. I almost guarantee she'll "step down" after Episode IX before the next movie starts filming. She'll be able to claim that she accomplished what she set out to do and blah blah. Everybody saves face and Disney doesn't admit they torched billions of dollars.

I do like how they tried to make fun of themselves a bit and the character when Rocket snarked at Danvers by asking if she's goanna get another haircut. It fit his character in saying something like that, and it also spoke to the running commentary by fans of her changing look in the comics. Harmless fun.

I'd say Marvel has its problems going forwards, but it looks like the DCEU isn't one of them, if the rumors of how bad Wonder Woman 1984 are true. But that's another thread.

All said, I think the general consensus is that the movie , on its own, isn't so utterly horrible. It's just unnecessarily bad, and add to the fact that Brie Larson is so disconnected w/ reality and insists on shooting off her mouth. It's no secret that Avengers co-stars didn't warm up to her. None of the women would go do interviews with her, and the men barely endured her presence. All that added to the negative press, I'm sure.

DCU could just die and they should build a new one around Joker. They're already talking about a sequel to it, and it is so far removed from everything else out there that it hasn't been tainted. Nobody wants to see Ben Affleck on the screen with Phoenix.

All of the major players that were involved in all of DCEU's missteps so far are gone. The only thing that could kill the new guy in charge is if Birds of Pray fails miserably. WW isn't his fault. If the rumors are true and that ends up bombing, he can point out that it was left in his lap when he took over and also point out that he greenlit the most profitable comic book movie ever as his first move.

I'm hoping that Birds of Prey fails miserably too though, but that it doesn't get him kicked out for greenlighting it. I just want everything from the first attempt at the DCEU to die off and get rebooted around Joker. Nobody is going to want to watch a 55 year old Harley Quinne when Batman is old enough to wear the suit anyhow.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

If a TV show is produced but nobody sees it, was it ever even created at all?

Yeah, Batwhaman is horribly written and pretty much a dumpster fire all around.

The folks I usually go to for reviews on such things have stopped reviewing it, because there's just no reason. It's beyond ' woke ' and more like an extremely unfunny version of the Scary Movie franchise. Like a parody of wokieness w/ out trying to BE a parody.

I wouldn't know. It wasn't made for me. I'm never going to watch it. I've never watched a single episode of a single DC show on their network dating back to Smallville.

All I know about it was the cringiest radio ad I've ever heard in my life. I hope somebody got fired over that one.

IT WASN'T MADE FOR YOU !

You know , goddammit, that's EXACTLY what the fans need to say to the SJW snowflakes who are destroying decades old franchises, just so they can instill their woke agenda and overwrite MALE characters w/ lesser , undeserving female ones.

I just looked at that link.

She got a Dishonorable Discharge from Military School? That is a total loser, right there. Thousands graduate every week from Military Basic Training alone. Considered the more exclusive, Martine Corps Boot Camp is something like 13 weeks, and pumps out a hundreds each week. Little under a hundred per platoon, 3 platoons per company, times 2 Recruit Depots. And she can't even muster enough competence to achieve the basics. Sheesh. Bruce Wayne would be ashamed.
