I just did my new daily ritual of Googling "President of the United States" just to see if anything has changed.
Nothing yet. It still says Donald Trump.
Maybe tomorrow.

Quote:The one weird thing between Trump voters and Trump is his income tax returns. There is no GOOD reason for him to keep them secret, especially after he promised many times he would publicize the returns. The BAD reason is he cheated on his taxes. Now that he is President, he is still keeping his returns secret. That is prima facie evidence he is cheating while in the White House. You should really, really look at all the other Presidents, Vice-Presidents, and candidates making their returns public. Every last one of them dumped their returns for public review. But Not Trump. Trump is a crook.

Perilous times for Trump: By 45%-38%, Americans support impeaching him over Ukraine allegations, poll finds
Americans by a 45%-38% plurality now support a vote by the House of Representatives to impeach President Donald Trump, a USA TODAY/Ipsos Poll finds, as allegations continue to swirl around an embattled White House.
By a similar margin, 44%-35%, those surveyed say the Senate, which would then be charged with holding a trial of the president, should convict Trump and remove him from office.

Statement Regarding Illegal Contributions From Foreign Governments
June 13, 2019
Let me make something 100% clear to the American public and anyone running for public office: It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election.1 This is not a novel concept. Electoral intervention from foreign governments has been considered unacceptable since the beginnings of our nation. Our Founding Fathers sounded the alarm about “foreign Interference, Intrigue, and Influence.” They knew that when foreign governments seek to influence American politics, it is always to advance their own interests, not America’s. Anyone who solicits or accepts foreign assistance risks being on the wrong end of a federal investigation. Any political campaign that receives an offer of a prohibited donation from a foreign source should report that offer to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Going to war with Iraq would mean shouldering all the responsibilities of an occupying power the moment victory was achieved. These would include running the economy, keeping domestic peace, and protecting Iraq's borders—and doing it all for years, or perhaps decades. Are we ready for this long-term relationship?
If I looked around, I could find dozens of articles that say Trump is mentally unfit to be President, but I knew that decades ago because I know how to run a business and Trump has been infamous for decades for being a rotten businessman. He has always been crazy, lazy, and disorganized and he is getting worse.

Trump’s Allies Are Running Out of Excuses
It’s dawning on Republicans that the normal defenses of presidential misconduct won’t work this time, since its the Federal Election Commission, not the GOP controlled Senate, that decides if Trump's mouth broke election laws.

Treasury Inspector General to Review Handling of Trump’s Tax Returns
The inquiry comes amid new concerns about political interference in the handling of Mr. Trump’s tax returns, which — like those of all presidents — are subjected to a mandatory audit. An Internal Revenue Service whistle-blower filed a complaint over the summer claiming that senior Treasury officials tried to exert improper influence over the audit.

For several years there’s been a kind of competition on the right to come up with a coherent intellectual or ideological framework to support Trump’s presidency. Every single one that comes out of the clouds of theory to get close to the reality on the ground has crashed. He’s a nationalist who puts America first but says we’ll await Saudi Arabia’s say-so on a military strike against Iran. He says he wants free trade but also thinks tariffs are good.
Just this week, the same people who insisted that Trump would never collude with a foreign nation for his political interest are now defending collusion with a foreign nation for his political interest. The people who turn crimson with rage when you point out Trump’s decades of corrupt business practices now insist his only interest in the Bidens is his concern about corruption. They say it’s outrageous that Biden’s son sat on the board of a Ukrainian company when Biden was vice president, but they also say it’s fine to have a daughter and son-in-law duo running vast swaths of foreign and domestic policy while also making a fortune from their business interests around the world. Enemies are sinful or decadent when they lie or cheat on their wives, but who are you to judge Comrade Trump?
There’s no halfway defensible ideological, intellectual or moral standard that Trump doesn’t violate, often routinely. A cult of personality that replies “Trump’s right” or “his enemies are worse” before the question is even asked is the only place to hide.

They'll flip on Trump soon I hope. Trump is outing others like Perry, Pence, Barr in order to keep them from bailing. That said, don't you find it telling that all the trolls here who post constantly about our corrupt government, are now upset about whistleblowers exposing corruption in our government? Think about JO.

These Republicans May Not Endorse an Impeachment Inquiry. But They Aren’t Saying No.
As evidence mounts that Mr. Trump engaged in an intensive effort to pressure the leader of Ukraine to investigate a political rival, Mr. Amodei is one of a growing number of Republicans who, while not explicitly endorsing the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, are at least indicating an openness to it. None have said Mr. Trump should be impeached. But neither are they defending him.

I believe 6 has said something similar. "Mark my words, the MSM will start to reluctantly embrace Trump."
I think he's toast as well. Republicans will start cracking. A couple here and there, none of any real significance, and then gradually bigger and more respected members will speak up when they see he's a black hole and they need to get some distance.

‘Out on a limb’: Inside the Republican reckoning over Trump’s possible impeachment
A torrent of impeachment developments has triggered a reckoning in the Republican Party, paralyzing many of its officeholders as they weigh their political futures, legacies and, ultimately, their allegiance to a president who has held them captive.

Will they remember Trump's extraordinary claim that any occupant of the White House enjoys absolute immunity from criminal process of any kind? If they don't understand Trump's claim, their minds must be very shallow. If they do understand, they won't forget.
A federal judge on Monday dismissed a lawsuit brought by President Donald Trump in his effort to block a subpoena issued by the Manhattan district attorney's office for eight years of Trump's tax returns, rejecting the President's "extraordinary" claim that any occupant of the White House enjoys "absolute immunity from criminal process of any kind."
Describing Trump's argument as a "categorical and limitless assertion of Presidential immunity," US District Court Judge Victor Marrero wrote in an opinion that it "would constitute an overreach of executive power."

Analysis: Trump loves to tout his base. But a new poll shows increasing GOP support for impeachment — and even removing him.
A new Washington Post-Schar School poll shows support for an impeachment inquiry rising to a new high after Democrats formally launched one. The 58 percent who support the inquiry is higher than in any other poll; the 38 percent who oppose it suggests only Trump’s most devoted base is now opposed.
But even that isn’t quite accurate — because it shows some of Trump’s base does support the inquiry and even his removal.
In fact, 28 percent of Republicans support the impeachment inquiry, and 18 percent say they support removing Trump from office, according to the poll. The rise in GOP support for the impeachment inquiry in the poll is commensurate with the rise in support among other groups, according to The Post’s Dan Balz and Scott Clement:
Since a July poll by The Post and ABC, there has been movement toward an impeachment inquiry among all three groups, with support for the inquiry rising by 25 points among Democrats, 21 points among Republicans and 20 points among independents.

I don't think they're dropping the ball. I think Nancy's playing a game with Trump.
Trump wants impeachment. He's all but begging for it. He's got nothing to lose and everything to gain by it.
I have zero faith that Nancy was ever going to go through with it. She's just letting it hang out there right now, conveniently right before they all went on a two week recess and nothing would be done, just to see what the polling numbers will come back at. And right now, a 58% approval for impeachment proceedings (which includes a LOT of people like me who want it done for a very different reason than you do) is not good enough.
Certainly not when his approval rating hasn't budged at all during the same time frame. And certainly not when Trump still holds too many of the keys to the White House.
There has never been any serious attempt at impeachment yet, JO. At the end of the day that's because after more than 3 years the worst thing the Democrats have on Trump is the Billy Bush tapes that came out before he was elected.

You really have no problem with him using so many gov resources and time trying to dig up dirt on his most likely 2020 opponent? You don't see the problems with him basically saying, "give me dirt on my opponent and I'll give you weapons?" I bet if Obama or Hillary had done this you'd be calling for a hanging.

That's not how the conversation went, for starters.
He also did not bring it up. He was replying honestly to them broaching the subject.
Also, you have to stretch it really far to prove that there was a quid pro quo ultimatum based off of the transcripts. Therein lies the problem here. Never Trumpers automatically see it. Everyone else doesn't see it. At the very least, it would never hold up in a court of law, and there will be zero chance an impeachment could go through based off of this.
On the reverse end, Joe Biden not only did everything you're accusing Trump of doing right now, but he did it in the name of nepotism and there is video proof of him bragging about doing so.
The fact that you can't see how bad a position this puts somebody like you in when trying to argue this point is comical. Anyone you argue this point with has vantage over the hypocrisy hole you're trying to argue from.
Do Right, Be Right. :)

Obviously you haven't been keeping up on current events. There's more than just that conversation pointing directly to quid pro quo.
MORE IMPORTANTLY - who gives a sh*t about QPQ? Using the US government and asking other countries to dig up dirt on a rival is all that's needed, and that's right from Trump big fat mouth.

I see why they call him shifty Schiff ...
quotes from various sources
"Have you heard from the whistleblower? Do you want to hear from the whistleblower? What protections could you provide to the whistleblower?" Schiff was asked during a Sept. 17 interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
"We have not spoken directly with the whistleblower. We would like to," replied Schiff, adding "But I am sure the whistleblower has concerns that he has not been advised, as the law requires, by the inspector general or the director of national Intelligence just how he is supposed to communicate with Congress, and so the risk to the whistleblower is retaliation."
After it was revealed that the whistleblower approached Schiff's panel - which then directed him to a Democrat attorney, the Post gave Schiff four Pinocchios for his statement, which they called "Flat-out false."
"Schiff on 'Morning Joe' clearly made a statement that was false," said the fact-checker. "He now says he’s was answering the wrong question, but if that was the case, he should have quickly corrected the record. He compounded his falsehood by telling reporters a few days later that if not for the [inspector general's] office, the committee would not have known about the complaint. That again suggested there had been no prior communication."
"The explanation that Schiff was not sure it was the same whistleblower especially strains credulity," added WaPo. "Schiff earns Four Pinocchios."
The insane never-Trumpers will be driven even more insane in the wash/rinse/spin/repeat/ cycle they mistake for reality.

Giuliani associates arrested while trying to board international flight with one-way tickets, prosecutors say
Two associates of Rudy Giuliani made their initial appearance before a federal judge on Thursday, less than 24 hours after they were arrested on campaign finance violations while trying to board an international flight with one-way tickets at Dulles International Airport outside of Washington D.C.
Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman appeared in federal court in Alexandria, Va. to face a four-count indictment alleging that they, along with two other co-defendants, conspired to violate a ban on foreign donations and contributions in connection with federal and state elections.

Condemnation rained down from both sides of the aisle over Trump’s decision to pull remaining American troops out of northern Syria, opening the door for Turkey to launch a military strike on ethnic Kurds that have been American allies in fighting ISIS. With American forces gone, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stepped through that door Wednesday, launching a military offensive across its border. By way of explanation, Trump defended his reasoning for pulling the plug on American support for the Kurds, saying: “They didn’t help us with Normandy.”
Here’s a fuller version of Trump’s comments at the White House Wednesday:
"The Kurds are fighting for their land, just so you understand. They’re fighting for their land and as someone wrote in a very, very powerful article today: They didn’t help us in the Second World War, they didn’t help us with Normandy, as an example… but they’re there to help us with their land. And that’s a different thing. And in addition that, we’ve spent tremendous amounts of money on helping the Kurds, in terms of ammunition, in terms of weapons, in terms of money, in terms of pay. With all of that being said, we like the Kurds."
Trump’s comments are muddled to the point of incoherence.

The decision is 134 pages long, and took 3 months to write, but this is the only paragraph that counts: "Having considered the weighty interests at stake in this case, we conclude that the subpoena issued by the Committee to Mazars is valid and enforceable. We affirm the district court’s judgment in favor of the Oversight Committee and against the Trump Plaintiffs.
So ordered."
I would expect Trump owes taxes equal to half his net worth. Nixon had to pay half after Congress audited his tax returns for just the years he was President. Read Nixon's story:

Trump Pressed for Ukraine Envoy's Removal, She Tells Lawmakers
Commenting for the first time on what she called a “concerted campaign” against her, Marie Yovanovitch, a career diplomat whom Mr. Trump removed from her post in May, said she didn’t know why she was targeted by Trump allies outside the administration, including his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani. But she drew a link to the two Giuliani associates who were arrested this week on campaign-finance charges in the U.S., saying she suspected the men stood to benefit financially by sidetracking an ambassador who had spoken out against corruption in Ukraine.

Trump decided to pull American troops out of northern Syria, but did it in precisely the way that would cause the most chaos to both the United States and its allies. And that’s what he’s gotten.
And in yet other news, after blowing up negotiations with the Taliban in Afghanistan because he didn’t understand what was going on, Trump is now trying to start them up again. Good luck with that.
Oh, and Trump’s buddy who served as roving ambassador to Ukraine is apparently prepared to testify that the only reason he said there was "no quid pro quo" required for Ukraine to receive its military aid is because Trump told him to say that. He himself has no idea if it was true or not.

Donald Trump has made a lot of exceedingly stupid decisions in the 78,000 dog years he’s been in office, but few compare, in impact and the speed with which they blew up in his face, than the one to withdraw troops from northern Syria, paving the way for Turkey to invade the region and kill our Kurdish allies, leading to one (completely predictable) consequence after the next.
Now that the situation has descended into unstoppable chaos, Trump is naturally acting as though no one could have predicted any of this, and threatening retribution that experts say will do little to stop the unmitigated disaster he set into motion.

Trump’s explicitly declared position in the scandal consuming his presidency is that pressuring a foreign power to “investigate” a leading domestic political opponent absolutely falls within his rightfully exercised authority. Trump has said this, and so has his White House counsel, making this the White House’s official political, substantive and legal position.
But this defense is cracking up. That’s because we’re now learning, one after another, that all of the people around him knew that it was grievously wrong — that is, all except for those who were carrying out Trump’s corrupt scheme.
As this becomes more public, Trump’s position will grow increasingly unsustainable — not just as a rhetorical matter but also in terms of whether he’ll be able to keep the support of Senate Republicans, his final line of defense.
The latest domino to fall is John Bolton. In July, Bolton grew so alarmed by efforts to pressure Ukraine to launch “investigations” into Joe Biden and his son that he instructed an aide to alert White House lawyers.
That aide is Fiona Hill, a former senior White House adviser on Russia and Europe. Hill testified this week about this exchange to House investigators as part of their impeachment inquiry. Hill told them that Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, Trump lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney had run what The Post calls a “shadow” campaign to pressure Ukraine to do Trump’s political bidding.
“I am not part of whatever drug deal Sondland and Mulvaney are cooking up,” Bolton reportedly told Hill to tell White House lawyers.

NEW YORK (AP) — A Florida man wanted in a campaign finance case involving associates of Rudy Giuliani is in federal custody after flying Wednesday to Kennedy Airport in New York City to turn himself in, federal authorities said.
David Correia was named in an indictment with two Giuliani associates and another man who were all arrested last week on charges they made illegal contributions to politicians and a political action committee supporting President Donald Trump. When a politician is prepared to remove a fundamental underpinning of shame and ethics from his political personality, there's almost no limit to his destructive political behavior.
The President's brazen willingness to do exactly what he wants -- key to his appeal to voters angry with the political establishment in 2016 -- shone through a wild few hours that briefly stole the spotlight from the Democratic impeachment inquiry.
First, Mulvaney blew away the cobwebs in the White House Briefing Room by announcing that the President would hold next year's G7 summit at his Doral resort in Florida.
Even for an administration that has redefined the concept of conflicts of interests, this is a staggering move. Mulvaney insisted with a straight face that Trump would not profit from the summit, even though millions of dollars from foreign delegations will flood into the coffers of the struggling resort and bring a worldwide branding boost.
Then Mulvaney made an even more unabashed declaration, admitting that Trump did freeze nearly $400 million in aid to coerce Ukraine into investigating his Democratic opponents.

Just laughing until 2024 is all.
I'd tell you to keep it up and watch whatever GOP president skate to victory after that, but there's no point in doing so because you're going to do it whether I like it or not.
Maybe a Trump electoral blowout will finally change the political landscape and make the Democrat party finally purge the ballast.

Trump is complaining that the news isn't allowing him to walk off with an extra $7 million in Federal money (He says it's "free"; I say he is full of baloney):
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump tweeted

Doral in Miami would have been the best place to hold the G-7, and free, but too much heat from the Do Nothing Radical Left Democrats & their Partner, the Fake News Media! I’m surprised that they allow me to give up my $400,000 Plus Presidential Salary! We’ll find someplace else!

"It’s overly simplistic to say that older Americans vote Republican, they’re just a lot more likely than younger voters to do so. Exit polls show that in 2012, 56% of voters age 65 and over voted for Republican candidate Mitt Romney compared to just 37% of the youngest voting group, those age 18 to 29.
In the last presidential election, 72% of Americans age 65 and over voted, compared to just 41% of those age 18 to 24. Though that gap in turnout is huge, the fact that it exists is hardly surprising – it’s a pretty well-known fact that the older an American is, the more likely they are to vote.
But that wasn’t always the case – as recently as 1990, Americans age 45 to 64 were as likely to vote as those age 65 and over. And in the elections of 1964 and 1968, Americans who were 25 to 44 years old were slightly more likely to cast a ballot than the oldest voters."

People 65 and older have long been solidly Republican, serving as reliable voters who can be counted on to not only turn out more than other blocs, but also do so with less effort on the part of campaigns. Their support was evident in both the 2010 and the 2014 midterm elections, when the GOP won these voters by 21 and 16 points respectively. So, too, was it visible in the last two presidential elections, as senior voters backed Mitt Romney by 12 and Donald Trump by eight points.
However, in 2018 the GOP managed to win voters 65 and older by just two points.
There are signs that this is not a fluke, and that the Trump era has caused senior citizens to abandon the GOP in numbers big enough that could produce huge electoral consequences for both congressional Republicans and Trump alike.

Weak and defenseless, Trump bows down in the face of ‘Crazed and Irrational Hostility’
Like most other old trolls, it’s easy to tell when tweeter Trump is whipped: “Based on both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility, we will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020. We will begin the search for another site, including the possibility of Camp David, immediately.” - https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1185735579327193093
The problem with Trump’s explanation is that if he really believed that all he was up against was crazed and irrational hostility, why would he back down? What happened to his famous counter-punch?
It turns out that the president who never tires of expressing his contempt for alliances, is becoming increasingly aware that if he loses his GOP allies on Capitol Hill, he’s advancing towards impeachment.
In that event, he probably won’t receive Nixon’s fig leaf of an honorable departure: a red carpet to the presidential helicopter, followed by a final Air Force One trip back to his family home.
The reason Trump dropped his Florida resort as the next G7 venue is the opposite to the one he tweeted. The switch was actually prompted by irate Republicans.

It's not about page counts JO. It's about posting what I see as pertinent information that's being reported. On topics I deem relevant. Facts that show what the trolls are posting here is bullshit.
That said, I'm not getting into a back and forth with the trolls. It's very rare that I respond to anything they post. It's been year after year with nothing but bullshit posts from them. I already know what they'll say because I've heard it all before. I post updated facts that are in the news. Truths that expose their aversion to posting the truth.
I rarely go to threads created by trolls because I don't wish to engage with them. Why would I. All they do is lie and troll.
When I see you or G start a thread I try to stop by. I try and post something supportive of you and move on. It appears for the most part both you a G do the same. Only SECOND shows a real interest in going back and forth with them consistently.

U.S. diplomat who questioned 'crazy' Ukraine policy to testify in Trump probe
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. lawmakers conducting an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump will hear on Tuesday from the top U.S. official in Ukraine, who once said it was "crazy" to withhold military aid for the country for domestic political reasons.

The desire of House Democrats to avoid confusing the issue by turning their impeachment inquiry into a sprawling investigation or a comprehensive accounting of Donald Trump’s crimes is understandable. And certainly if Senate Republicans indicate that they are prepared to hold Trump accountable in exchange for Democrats agreeing to act swiftly so that the country can move on, Democrats should do the responsible thing and remove Trump from office ASAP.
But there’s no indication that’s happening. Instead, among Republicans, only Sen. Mitt Romney has spoken about Trump’s misconduct with any degree of clarity, and even Romney hasn’t said he deems the total subversion of American foreign policy to necessarily be an impeachable offense.
If Republicans are going to stand by Trump regardless, there is absolutely no reason to cut the impeachment inquiry short or artificially limit its scope. The volume of leaks coming out of the Trump White House sometimes creates the impression that we have visibility into what’s really happening there. The moral of the Ukraine story is that isn’t true. A whistleblower’s memo brought new facts to light that were previously being covered-up. And the memo itself was nearly covered up. The launching of the formal inquiry has brought forth fruitful testimony from government officials who were apparently planning to stay silent otherwise.
It’s certainly possible that Trump’s corrupt dealings with Ukraine is the only example of him attempting dirty deals with foreign leaders. But it’s also quite possible it’s just the only example we happen to know about.
What we know for sure is that there are other call records that have been inappropriately kept on a super-classified server in order to shield their contents from other people in the government. Unless Republicans start showing some immediate interest in removal over Ukraine it would be political malpractice to not look into what’s happening during Trump’s calls with leaders of countries like Turkey, Russia, and Saudi Arabia.

Trump keeps breaking with bipartisan sentiment in Congress to defend Saudi Arabia — three of his four vetoes as president have been about this. The public message on this is that he does it for the sake of American defense contractors whose Saudi contracts he doesn’t want to imperil.
And maybe that’s all there is to it, but we’ve also known for a long time now that Trump conducts diplomacy with Saudi Arabia through irregular channels overseen by his son-in-law. There’s no particularly clear reason why you would do things that way, and Congress should ask whether Trump is really the selfless defender of arms dealers’ profits that he portrays himself as or is he cutting himself in on the deal.

Trump frustrated as White House effort to defy impeachment inquiry fails to halt witness testimony, advisers say
After weeks of dismissing the impeachment inquiry as a hollow partisan attack, President Trump and his closest advisers now recognize that the snowballing probe poses a serious threat to the president — and that they have little power to block it, according to multiple aides and advisers.

This isn't just about Trump being corrupt. It's also about his putting this countries security at risk for personal gain. It's about collaborating with foreign entities to corrupt our elections.
No, it isn't just about Trump. It's also about the republicans assisting and enabling him to do so.
