I hav my alarm set on an a.m. radio station - The Answer. Rite Wing propaganda. On Wenzday afternoon I wuz woken up by a gy caracterizing the investigation az "...2-1/2 yirz uv tin foil hat conspirasy theory wackoz..." in a loud authoritativ voise.
I suppoze it wuz vased on Bill Barr'z attempts to set the perspectiv, but I wunder if he will bother to read the report himself.

That decision, though, seemed to leave investigators in a strange spot. Mueller's team wrote that they "determined not to apply an approach that could potentially result in a judgment that the President committed crimes." They seemed to shy from producing even an internal document that alleged the president had done something wrong - deciding, essentially, that they wouldn't decide.

Russian-government connected troll farm know as the Internet Research Agency formed a special US department in the spring of 2014, in order to influence public opinion through social media, the report states (p. 19)
What this department did, exactly, and who it talked to among the Trump campaign remains a mystery. Nearly all of the rest of that section is redacted from the report, citing “Harm to Ongoing Matter.” The “ongoing matter” is likely the ongoing investigation into Trump advisor Roger Stone’s involvement in Russian meddling. Stone goes on trial in November, and the DOJ had said it would redact information related to his case.

1. They coud get away with it at least till the event or interview or wutevr wuz over. The shorter the 'get away with' time period wuz, the less likely they were to lie.
2. The benefit uv the lie woud outway the detriment if or wen it wuz debunked. An important factor iz that the longer they got away with it, the less impact it woud hav - it bekumz stale newz. They woud also hav time to backpedal, downplay, make contradictory statements.
#1 wuz the most important. Totally criticly essential!

I think you need to take a more critical look at who's trying to fool whom.
Starting from a recent example and working backwards. Trump didn't want to send more aid to Puerto Rico because of what he said was a problem of corruption. The democrats said it was all because Trump was just a mean guy.
Then just recently after hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans protested for days, the government resigned because Puerto Ricans were fed up with the long-standing corruption.
Who had the essence of the situation correct?
Trump had often said that we need a wall to control our southern border. (Now, fwiw, most people want controlled borders whether or not they want an actual wall.) Then, after a slow decline in illegal border crossings, a 10-year-record massive wave of would-be border-crossers recently hit the southern border, overwhelming our ability to deal with it.
Who read the situation more right?
Trump and China seem to have entered an uneasy trade-war truce. Trump said he was trying to fight illegal and unfair Chinese trade practices.
But after decades of soto voce whisperings about those practices (such as proven and suspected product dumping on the markets and forced technology transfer), the problem has been 'suddenly' discovered in the media.
Who had a better grasp of the facts?
And then there's the Mueller report. Despite everybody's whinging about how Trump was in cahoots with the Russians, there was no evidence - was there? Who was more right? Trump or 18+ months of media hyperventilation?
I really don't support everything Trump does. I deeply mistrust our intentions, policies, and possible outcomes re Russia, Iran, Syria, and Venezuela - for example. We don't need to be stomping our military into every country we dislike. We don't need to be engaging in brinkmanship with a fully-armed nuclear country. And I think we need to be extreme in our efforts to combat global warming. These I think are 'existential' threats - (by definition) a matter of our very existence.
Even more, while I think Trump may be identifying problems DEMOCRATS want to slide past, I don't always agree with his solutions. Nor do I support his position of making allies of brutal places like Saudi Arabia, or places run by people who look like they've committed war crimes, like Israel.
But people, except Trump's base and the never-Trumpers, don't care about the back-and-forth minutia. Instead, people give credit to Trump for getting things more right than anybody else.
And if democrats don't do anything different, how are they any better?tic tac
