North Korea

Trump's failure to reach a deal with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at their second summit in Vietnam last month dealt a blow to the President's most important foreign policy venture. The White House has rejected criticism of the lack of progress at the two meetings by arguing that the halt to North Korean nuclear and missile tests has been an important victory in itself.
But warnings by analysts based on satellite images that Pyongyang could be preparing to launch a missile or space rocket soon, threatened to undermine even that narrative of limited success.
Trump said last week that he would be "very disappointed if that were happening," while stressing the report was very early assessment.
The restoration work at the launch site could be just a negotiating ploy by Kim after the failure of the summit and just the latest round of decades-long brinkmanship by the North Koreans. But it does show the perils in investing so much political and electoral capital in a diplomatic initiative with the unpredictable North Koreans.

Trump surprises by revoking North Korea sanctions immediately after Treasury imposes them. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said: “President Trump likes Chairman Kim and he doesn’t think these sanctions will be necessary.”

In what had been a move to ratchet up pressure further, the Treasury Department on Thursday had imposed the sanctions on two Chinese-based companies to highlight “the deceptive methods that the North Korean regime uses to circumvent international and U.S. sanctions, as well as the U.S. Government’s commitment to implement existing UN Security Council resolutions.”
Said Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin in a statement Thursday, “Treasury will continue to enforce our sanctions, and we are making it explicitly clear that shipping companies employing deceptive tactics to mask illicit trade with North Korea expose themselves to great risk.”
It is okay with Trump if North Korea continues to smuggle goods with the help of China. Trump won't discuss the smuggling or why he did not tell Mnuchin until a day too late. Probably because Trump only heard on FOX News about what the Treasury Secretary was doing after it was done.

The media is the enemy of the state, right?
Depends who's in the WH > When Obama was president it was "the government controls the media." She's so full of sh*t she needs to start a sh*t business.
I know, it's proof positive she is nuts.

Trump built a nuke to kill Kim. Kim didn’t hear about it from Woodward. Kim heard from Popular Mechanics. The result is that the Kim/Trump disarmament talks in Hanoi failed Feb 27–28, 2019.

Popular Mechanics mistakenly assumed the nuke was for Russia. Anybody who knows Trump knows Putin is the least likely target for that nuke. Kim is the most likely.

North Korea probably won’t be happy with Bob Woodward’s explosive new book about the Trump presidency — and it could hurt the administration’s effort to convince North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons.
Woodward reports that Trump asked Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to come up with a plan to preemptively attack North Korea. That’s consistent with previous reporting indicating the administration considered a so-called “bloody nose” strike, meant to compel Pyongyang to give up its nuclear weapons.
Also, Woodward recounts an exchange between President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis. Trump calls for killing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. “Let’s fucking kill him! Let’s go in. Let’s kill the fucking lot of them,” Trump told Mattis, referring to Assad and his forces.
Experts worry that these two revelations could hurt America’s nuclear negotiations with North Korea by convincing leader Kim Jong Un that Trump would be willing to order an assassination strike against him — which is a really strong reason for Kim to hold onto his nuclear bombs and missiles.

Quote:North Korea was going to stop making plutonium for atom bombs if and only if the "Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization" provided electricity. The Republican Congress under Bush would not pay the $billions negotiated by Bill Clinton to the "Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization", so North Korea kept on making more plutonium. That unwillingness to pay 15 years ago is why Trump is negotiating about atom bombs today. Republican Senators decided payment = "appeasement".

North Korea has executed five officials for their part in the failed second summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, according to a South Korean newspaper.
Citing the newspaper, Bloomberg News reported that Kim Hyok Chol, North Korea's special envoy to the U.S., was executed by firing squad in March for being "won over by the American imperialists to betray the supreme leader."
The paper also claimed that four other North Korean Foreign Ministry officials were executed that same month because of the breakdown of the February summit in Hanoi, Vietnam, but did not provide details.

Maybe Trump will execute National Security Advisor John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Would that be tragic? Not so much.

Some day maybe soon, someone's going to take him out. Maybe we need to raise the bounty? He pretty much holds that entire nation hostage.

Quote:The cheapest way (fewest deaths and property destruction) to handle North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is to buy his loyalty. But Kim can't trust Trump to keep his word on anything, so there will be no deals with Trump. Kim knows that Trump already has "secret" plans to kill Kim:

Park Chung-hee, who was the dictator of South Korea, was assassinated. He was so crazy his regime made North Korea look soft. So crazy that his own security chief eventually assassinated him. It was the last of several assassination attempts on Park Chung Hee, one of which was caught on tape.
