If you had an army of people paid just to cover up the shit you do, it would be hard to charge you as well. It's why they went with tax evasion on Al Capone. They'll get around to it with Trump now he's raising such a stink.

The special counsel makes his view plain in a single footnote.
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/04/mueller-report-footnote-10
91-prosecute-trump-obstruction-post-presidency.html
In the report, it’s Footnote 1,091, which appears on Page 178.
The implication of both the passage and the subsequent footnote is clear: If Trump committed obstruction of justice, even through official actions, a prosecutor could charge him after his term has ended.
Further, impeachment would be no “substitute” for eventual criminal charges, and “Congress is not restricted to relying only on impeachment,” which is “a drastic and rarely invoked remedy.” This is pretty strong stuff, and it hasn’t received the attention it deserves.
Like I said, there ARE other battles coming. I keep seeing rumors that he has a couple hundred lawsuits just waiting for him to step out of office. Unfortunately, it means seeing that horrid face in the news for a long time to come...
As for "6ix, you understood nothing."
No kidding, I've been saying that for a while now. That happens when you can't read and research.

I think the Dems should go full steam ahead with impeachment.

Her point is that it would never happen. Even Second knows that and has said it quite a bit in this thread and in others.
I happen to agree with her. The time to impeach is now. After two years of this shit show, not only will Trump be re-elected, but I'd predict that the house swings back the other way and they won't have the opportunity then.

Well, I'm not offering sarcastic advice, I think the Dems should go balls to the wall on impeachment. Take it as far as they can, dig into every last nook and cranny, ferret out every detail. Let us all know what they find. Just wind it up six months before the next election so that they can't keep grandstanding on innuendo.

Prepare the public for impeachment and get on with it

No one can trust the outcome of the next presidential election. Now is the time for impeachment.
Many Democratic Party leaders continue to say they would prefer to wait for the next election, to let the voters oust President Donald Trump in 2020.
Why would anyone believe that Trump would allow himself to be fired by American voters? What evidence is there over the past three years, or the course of his professional career, that suggests he would play by the rules?
Why would anyone who has read the Mueller report, or Trump’s tweets, or listened to the president’s former personal lawyer and co-workers, believe he would voluntarily step aside following an election to face possible criminal prosecution in federal and state courts?
How can anyone state without misgivings that Trump would not subvert the election process to protect his son, daughter and son-in-law?
Democrats, like much of America, seem to minimize the impact of Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election in 2016. But the evidence is abundant that it was a substantial effort and that the Russians are poised once again to interfere in the 2020 U.S. election campaign.

Whatever you think are the real issues, I predict there will be no progress on those for two years. The autopilot, not Trump, will be flying America. I hope there are no mountains to crash into. Trump is like an ordinary bus driver who found himself unexpectedly strapped into the pilot's chair without the sense to change altitude or heading to avoid a crash.
Trump’s longtime friend and former head of Fox News Roger Ailes used to say “if you want a career in television, first run for president.” And that’s just what Trump did, with plans to start a news network and become “the most famous man in the world.” There was nothing about being an effective president, only about being famous.
