I only checkout cnn & msnbc in terms of MSM, and cnn was transparent with additional videos - they didn't hide from the entire roller coaster of opinions, like real journalists reporting the news would. I haven't watched msnbc much since this happened, so I have no idea what they said if anything.

The only person who seems to know what happened and says it like it is was Phillips himself. Quote from the video about "mocking": "I realized I had put myself in a really dangerous situation, yanno. Here's a group of people who are angry at somebody else. I put myself in front of that. All of the sudden, I'm the one who's all that anger and all that wanting to have the freedom to rip me apart, yanno, that was scary."
It shouldn't have to be said again, but these were just kids. Sure, they were white, and there were a lot of them, but they were the only kids in the situation. They were being harassed by black MEN, likely because of the hats their parents chose to send them out the door with that day.
They come from Park Hills, KY, which according to Wikipedia is 96.94% white, and only 1.65% black and 0.77% Native American.* For many of them, they probably saw more blacks and Native Americans on that day than they'd ever seen in their lives. And, yes, a lot of their parents probably still do go around saying racist things and making racist jokes when their particular area hasn't been forced diversified like a lot of other areas have been.
So THIS was destined to be one of their earliest memories about meeting large groups of other ethnic cultures. They get verbally harassed by a bunch of black men who should have known better, then harassed online by every SJW idiot out there including celebrities calling for their expulsion and doxxing them?
Way to prove their ignorant parents right, everyone. Swell job.
