Donald Trump, the tough guy who makes the Hard Decisions, cancels the Congressional Picnic. “It didn’t feel right” while he’s working on “something really important.” But he still has time for rallies and fund-raisers.

On Wednesday morning, White House cooks were flipping steaks and unboxing popcorn machines ahead of the yearly congressional picnic. Within the hour, the picnic was scrubbed, the steaks on ice, and the popcorn machines trucked away.
A day earlier, President Donald Trump enthusiastically told House Republicans in the Capitol basement he was behind them "1,000%" in their attempts to pass an immigration bill. On Friday he dismissed the effort as a waste of time.
Speaking to reporters as the humanitarian crisis worsened, Trump brushed away a question about his options: "You can't do it through an executive order," he said on the North Lawn. Five days later, he sat at his desk in the Oval Office attempting to do just that.
Trump's go-it-alone strategy ends in chaos and confusion. When in danger or in doubt, Trump runs in circles, screams and shouts.

Of course now we know that the “crying girl” story was totally fake news. That girl was never separated from her mother, and they had paid a smuggler six thousand dollars to get them across the border.
This Obama-era pilot program kept asylum-seeking migrant families together. Trump canceled it.
The Family Case Management Program, launched as a pilot in early 2016, aimed to keep asylum seeking kin together, out of detention, and complying with immigration laws. It was praised by immigration advocates for both its high rate of compliance and its ability to help migrants thrive in a new country — right up until the Trump administration shuttered it almost exactly a year ago.

Sarah Sanders is upset a restaurant wouldn’t serve her. She’s OK with it happening to gays.
Restaurant-gate is really about the Trump administration’s commitment to courting divisiveness.

As Trump’s press secretary, Sanders defends his his many lies, his attacks, and his policies. She does her job with a sheen of professionalism, but that’s not the same as respect.
Sanders is fine with a business hanging up a sign ‘we don’t bake cakes for gay weddings’
The irony of restaurant-gate is that Sanders supports the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, Jack Phillips, who refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple in Colorado. The owner of the Red Hen, Stephanie Wilkinson, told the Washington Post one reason she asked Sanders to leave was because of Sanders’ stances on gay rights. The staff includes several gay workers. The staff was also deeply upset about Sanders’ defense of Trump’s family separation policy, she said.
“I would have done the same thing again,” Wilkinson told the Post. “We just felt there are moments in time when people need to live their convictions. This appeared to be one.”
Sanders understands the idea of convictions and business. The owner of the bakery in Colorado opposes same sex marriage on the grounds of his Christian beliefs and so, he argues, baking a wedding cake for two men would infringe on his First Amendment rights. Initially the Colorado Civil Rights Commission sided with the couple, but earlier this month the Supreme Court ruled narrowly on the facts of the case, siding with Phillips 7-2.
In response to the Supreme Court’s decision, Sanders told the press she and the Trump administration “are pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision.”
At this rate, she won't be able to eat anywhere! LOL! BOOM!

There you go, minimizing the horror of our "interventions", which are bloody and painful to the people that we "help".
During the Vietnam War, I saw a movie called "Hearts and Minds" and it made OUR VICTIMS very real to me, not just some colorless abstraction of "body counts" or tallies of "civilians killed", but people who lived, and then suffered and died at our hands. Mothers crying over the bodies of their babies, children crying over the coffins of their fathers.
It took a documentary movie, with none of the gore removed, to wake me up and make me understand what, exactly, we were doing to the people that we were "helping". Well, I can't make you sit down and watch Hearts and Minds; all I can do is post a few pictures and a few descriptions and hope that, somehow, reality will sink in and horror will follow.
What I find so terrible is that all of you people who CLAIM to be such nice, "caring" people can get so very, very tweaked about a child crying or about some concept like "human rights" can somehow ignore the literal mountains of bodies that we leave in our wake. Well, when I hear a child crying I just want to scoop them up and give them a hug. But let's be clear: This child is not dead, and neither are his or her parents. The problem is fixable, and should be fixed. Maybe we should start by NOT KILLING PEOPLE IN FOREIGN LANDS AND MAKING THEIR NATIONS HELLHOLES. Do you think THAT might be a good start? Or is that just too complicated for you?
Where is your sense of proportion, or reality? Don't you have any sorrow, or pity, or shame?
Apparently not! YOUR only reaction to the pictures of our victims is to attack me, personally, so you can once again deny reality, just as GSTRING's reaction is to attack me personally so that he can continue to minimize the awfulness. Why would you do that? Why would HE do that? Why would ANYone do that?

As long as you insist that everything is the Republicans'/ Democrats' fault, then you fail to grasp the REAL problem with American politics.
