They've got Trump in a strangle hold concerning Russia as they, the republicans, try and get done what they can. Trump is going down. They know it, and will help do so when the time is right.

Mueller Plunges Across Trump's Red Line

Trump has threatened Mueller, trying to keep his investigation confined to the election. He suggested in an interview with The New York Timesthat he might fire Mueller if the probe spread too wide.

If he fires Mueller he's toast. If he doesn't fire Mueller he's toast. By firing Comey and saying on tv that he did it to stop the investigation into his ties with Russia, he's toast. He's likely been laundering money for Russian Mob/Oligarchs. Jr. attempted collusion - we still don't know what was exchanged at that meeting. Them saying "it was nothing," yeah, like we're going to believe that.

It's a mess G. He held a rally in Virginia to show he has enough support to make the lives of the Republicans difficult, to say the least. If he is guilty, he has to fire Mueller. Rallying his base first would be smart.
