Yeah, the story is that Trump asked McConnell why he didn't intervene in the Russia investigation. Apparently he wanted McConnell to dismantle the Judiciary and Intelligence Committees regarding the Russia probe.
They're laying the blame at Trump's doorstep, and Mueller may call McConnell, and others, to testify as to the particulars of the phone call by Trump to McConnell. Apparently it was a profanity laden temper tantrum by Trump pressuring McConnell.
Oh, and this little leak was produced by McConnell's staff. McConnell is a shrewd operator, he will not publicly shame Trump, but will submit a threat to his political career. Obstruction of justice in regards to the Senate Majority leader, both houses are protected under the law. If it's true and Mueller investigates - all the rallies in the world won't help Trump.

If only Trump could buy Senators McConnell and McCain's loyalty with money, as Trump could do in real estate, but his standard operating procedure in business would look like bribing a Congressman, which is a crime.
It must be very frustrating for Trump to operate for the first time in an environment where every move is scrutinized by hostile lawyers. President Truman warned Trump if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Trump must not have paid attention because he was always talking, never listening.

I see why Trump does not learn when Senator McConnell tells him a fact: Researchers tested to see whether politicians changed their prior beliefs in the face of overwhelming evidence, and the results were pretty depressing.
The study, published in the British Journal of Political Science, set out to answer two questions: Does evidence help politicians make informed decisions, even if it challenges their beliefs? And does providing more evidence increase the likelihood of politicians accepting that evidence?
Julian Christensen, a political science researcher at Aarhus University in Denmark, wasn’t particularly surprised to find that a politician’s prior belief affects how they interpret factual information — that much has been shown before. But he was taken back when he saw that politicians doubled down when they were given even more evidence that goes against their prior beliefs. “That was a surprise for us,” he says, adding, “It’s also kind of depressing.”

Here's another little morsel from the Judiciary Committee:
After hours of grueling testimony, the Judiciary Committee is contemplating releasing the Dossier compiled by the British Intelligence spy. Apparently there are a number of factual points that have been verified with more to come.
The attorneys for the British Spy have given the okay to release the Dossier to the public, as requested at a Town Hall meeting with Senator Grassly. He did not oppose releasing said documents, pending legal clearance.
This is getting more and more interesting. Well, I look at it this way, Trump can say, with all conviction, that he is the biggest liar and crook in these here United States. He will live in infamy. Nixon will have to step aside as the biggest crook.
Make way for his royal blubberness!

Even funnier, and even more clueless, is Trump saying that digging into his finances would be a "violation" of the Mueller investigation's limits. Every single time Trump says this, he is screaming to high heaven "I Am A Tax Cheater!"
"If you're looking at Russian collusion, the president’s tax returns would be outside that investigation," an adviser to the president told the Post.
But legal experts say Trump's financial history and business dealings are properly within the scope of the probe.

That's all subjective. You nor I nor anybody involved in writing that story or the supposed legal experts can comment on it at this point.
It likely will be an issue to be brought up in courts, and then it will be decided.

Nielsen held the title of senior director for preparedness and response at the White House Security Council.
The Senate report “Hurricane Katrina: A Nation Still Unprepared” names Nielsen as among the key administration figures who failed to act on early warnings about the storm. A related bipartisan report from the House of Representatives on the government’s botched response to Katrina, “A Failure of Initiative,” similarly criticized Nielsen.
While serving in the Bush White House, the Senate report notes, Nielsen received an email from emergency planning officials six months before the storm in February 2005 warning that flooding in New Orleans “could cause similar devastation” as the tsunami that had devastated Southeast Asia the previous year.
Throughout August 27 and August 28, before the storm made landfall, Nielsen and other senior Bush aides received a flow of reports from DHS about the growing strength of Katrina, including a warning that floodwaters could overtop New Orleans’ levees. “Any storm rated Category 4 or greater,” one email from the Homeland Security Operations Center sent on August 28 warned, “will likely lead to severe flooding and/or levee breaching. This could leave the New Orleans area being submerged for weeks or months. … The magnitude of this storm is expected to cause massive flooding.”
Nielsen, the House report points out, headed Bush’s Homeland Security Council for Prevention, Preparedness and Response directorate, a team designed to relay information from disaster response agencies to the president.
Bush and his senior aides did not act on the warnings. On Saturday, August 27, Bush spent the day vacationing at his Crawford, Texas ranch. The following Monday, August 29, the president attended events in Arizona and California as the storm reached U.S. shores, joining Arizona Senator John McCain for McCain’s birthday celebration.
“Despite the clear warnings before landfall that Katrina would be catastrophic, the President and the White House staff were not sufficiently engaged and failed to initiate a sufficiently strong and proactive response,” the Senate report concluded.

Evidence shows that every $1 spent on disaster mitigation can save $4 in post-disaster recovery and rebuilding costs. This is just another example of Trump undoing everything Obama did.

Why would recipients of Federal Funds be planning building anything, let alone something on a flood plain? That doesn't even seem like an executive order with a purpose.
I'd get behind one stating that construction of new homes should not be allowed on flood plains. Period. Many local and state laws have already been enacted and are enforced regarding that.
One of the homes I was looking at in the Chicagoland area was like that. I was told by the realtor that the reason the house was so cheap for the area was because it was deemed a flood zone and it needed extensive work. It was legal to put money into restoring the home on the current foundation, but it would have been against the law to knock the house down and build another one.
I know all about planning for the future Second. More than most. That's how I got into the position I'm in now with very limited resources.
Maybe Trump could have spent his day more productively than playing golf, but I don't know what you expect him to personally do about a hurricane.
Chances are it won't be much of an event anyway. Katrina was a tragedy and an anomaly.
All that article was is another hit piece that was targeted to the demographic that already hates Trump and wants something else to bitch about. Mission accomplished, so it would seem.
