Why give him the benefit of a doubt ? He saw a photo of young girls and automatically went to a joke about rating them based on looks. Isn't that EXACTLY the embodiment of everything we're told by Joss and the Left we should NOT do ? Treat women and girls as objects ? I gave him the benefit of the doubt because in that situation I would give anybody the benefit of the doubt (about the girls being cancer survivors).

You're right about the rest though. Had that comment not been about cancer survivors there would have been a lot of laughing from a large section of the New Left because of it. There's a hierarchy of hate that "Trumps" their values and makes things okay in the right context. Had these women been standing next to Hillary and somebody said something like that they'd be misogynist monsters, but because it was a shot at conservatives it would not have had a bad reaction overall.

Joss was never particularly pro-women. He was okay considering a lot of alternatives and at least let the women in his stories do something, but that's a pretty low bar. Dollhouse was just gross in a lot of ways. He's been seeming more and more misogynistic in recent years, one of the reasons I've kinda turned off on firefly. The whole thing about companions and how he had the focus character act towards the concept with all the judgment and slut shaming was a warning sign for how low he can sink. I'll take that lesson I learned with me - if you hear someone talk that way about someone, they can talk that way about anyone.

Going back and watching some of the scenes where he did sex/bathing scenes with the women or made them cry on camera feels pretty icky now. And then they joke about how they shot the scene with Morena in the pilot three times, hahaha how funnyyyy that was. I hear that was the first scene she filmed on set and she'd never done nudes before. -_- Then there's how all his action girls seem to get punched by their love interests, and we're still supposed to cheer for the relationship. I've been feeling like this for a few years now.

Joss was never particularly pro-women. He was okay considering a lot of alternatives and at least let the women in his stories do something, but that's a pretty low bar. Dollhouse was just gross in a lot of ways. He's been seeming more and more misogynistic in recent years, one of the reasons I've kinda turned off on firefly. The whole thing about companions and how he had the focus character act towards the concept with all the judgment and slut shaming was a warning sign for how low he can sink. I'll take that lesson I learned with me - if you hear someone talk that way about someone, they can talk that way about anyone.

Where I feel duped is how Joss was willing to show both sides of certain issues.

Mal's " quaint " notions of chivalry and respecting the virtue of women is ' old fashion ', and a shadow of views of Earth-that-was.

See, I thought it was just him showing how wrong most men were, so as to contrast the good in Mal, and a few others. Pretty clear he's kinda getting off on it, and not for the altruistic, for-the-greater-good reasons.

I don't agree with the political posturing by celebrity's like Joss, but I also don't agree with you guys attacking his art now. I've never met a creative person in my life that didn't have their share of demons. What a boring world we would live in if the only art we experienced was of the perfect SJW variety...

Anybody who says that though just doesn't understand tech. The only way you could "take away Trump's twatter device" would be to have the Secret Service on babysitting detail 24-7 keeping him away from all computers. I know I'm not the easiest person to get along with when I'm sober. That was before I did any drugs or anything too. None of this is diagnosed, but I believe that I'm OCD and there's no doubt I'm a perfectionist. It's hard to deal with other people in general, let alone a mate. When you hold everything you do to such high extremes, you tend to hold everybody else to them too and are let down nearly 100% of the time. I do everything in excess when I do it. The good things too. When I was working out in my early 20's I put on over 75lbs in 2 years. I was spending 20-40 hours a week at the gym.

I can understand Joss's alleged "Workaholism". When I'm sober, I live it everyday in one form or another.

Sex has never been that important to me... at least, let's just say that when the occasional fling turns into something more serious it's never been worth all of the other crap that comes with a real relationship. I'd never make a good husband, but I'm not a bad friend with benefits. I'd never make a good father, but I'm a great uncle. I'm alright with that.

You really need to take a look at the people on your "side" around here. Wish seems to have done quite a bit of reading on the subject. My guess is that she was self diagnosing her own mental illnesses and though she may not have chosen Narcissism as her own label, she did spend quite a bit of time researching it because she exhibits quite a few of the traits herself.

A lack of empathy and a very high propensity to judge others being the most obvious to anybody who knows her.

I don't deny that it might be a good label for me, though I don't fall into all of the categories. I certainly don't lack in empathy and I'm highly self critical to a fault, but many of the other descriptions fit me well, particularly ritualistic self-destructive behavior and not being very good in relationships.

I take back what I said about her own marriage. I don't envy her position. I'm a narcissist that never inflicted my illness on anybody long term or ended up stuck somewhere I didn't want to be. I think this might be why Wish's marriage is so difficult for her. She would probably be much happier as a spinster with some cats.

Not sure what cats have to do with anything. I wasn't paying attention, obviously. I just know that if your cat was as big as a mountain lion or larger, well... you'd be dead. The only thing keeping house cats from stalking their humans is size.
