Why climate deniers are winning: The twisted psychology that
overwhelms scientific consensus
There's a reason why overwhelming evidence hasn't spurred public
action against global warming
I read over half of the article, tried to understand what it said,
finally gave up.
What I think it said, maybe:
A danger is reported, but it is not 100% certain to occur: It's uncertain.
Most people take UnCertain to mean UnLikely.
If I say, "There is a 84% chance that smog in Los Angeles will get
denser this year," Most would think, "Then it probably won't happen.
I can forget it."
OR -- to make it really simple for myself, Most people who read a
headline on scientific findings think it says the exact opposite of what
it does say.
And the rest of us know we have no idea what it says.
SO, I have an idea.
Never tell the People directly what the science paper said.
Instead, hire a Science Writer who is an expert in Keep It Simple Stupid!
Let him write up what it said. He can start with the above article
about why people don't know what the scientists really said.
Nevermind "The twisted psychology that overwhelms." Speak English!
"Cost of fighting warming 'modest,' says UN panel." <<-= I understand. I like.

Oonj - sorry about that. I was thinking people could pick and choose whatever seemed interesting - like flipping through a magazine. I goofed. Again. Sorry.
OONJERAH - We are too dumb to live and smart enough to wipe ourselves out.
"You, who live in any kind of comfort or convenience, do not know how these people can survive these things, do you? They will endure because there is no immediate escape from endurance. Some will die, the rest must live."

Kiki, I don't think you goofed at all.
It is simply ironic that an article that explains why the Public doesn't
get Global Warming is itself an article that's hard to understand.
In a way, it doubly illustrates the problem.
SO:
1. People don't want to believe in Climate Change, and who can blame them?
2. Denial of AGW in the media & government was & is very heavily funded.
3. Many of the scientists who know the truth are unable to communicate it.
In a rational world, the opposite would be true.
My bro's home in SF bay area is about 50' above sea level.
In a few years, it'll be beach front -- more valuable!

" climate deniers " are winning because more and more people are beginning to realize that AGW is an expensive and silly pile of go-se.

There are absolutely winners here. Insane carbon tax policies that yield zero positive results in lowering co2 or pollution concerns as well as costing us billions or trillions in wasted $ make losers of all of us.
There are better uses of the peoples $ and efforts.
