Reconstructed Pilots License

Friday, April 15, 2005

Reconstructed from a photograph (Thanks Ack!) of the Intergalactic Pilots License that was part of the press kit from way back for the premier of the TV show. And, NO, I have no idea what the Chinese says. Please don't tell me it's something embarassing!

Technically speaking, it should be "Intragalactic", not "Intergalactic". I strongly doubt there's travel between galaxies. ;)

The Chinese came from random selections of Chinese Characters on my Mac OSX Character Palette. What the original designer ment for them to say, I have no idea.

As far as the usage of "Intergalactic" and "Brown" I was just duplicating what the studio furnished on the original press package. If I make one for myself, I'll probably call it something else! Don't know what, though.

It's obviously a fake ID so that Mal can buy beer at the local Blue Sun Emporium!

Yer Welcome, Lurk!

I just obtained the rare, hard-to-find shipping case!

A pictorial of the case and wallet collection is now available at

Nice work there!

>>The Chinese came from random selections of Chinese Characters on my Mac OSX Character Palette. What the original designer ment for them to say, I have no idea.<<

The original designer just went random as well, but with Japanese katakana syllables not Chinese characters.

If you're interested, the original says:

モチリソラリモ スインミラリシト
ニシイミカニカン ア
ワアヤヌウヌワヨワ
トカチカナト ソチセカチニミ
リニソイミトイ ソリチトト フワ
ョパニスイハリンヲ
ソニカニツイミトクニセ
ナミリラミハニスモイシ
トイサ モチリイ シラコ
ヨメフワメフウヤフ
ィンイト コスラテミ クチニス
コスラテミ

Which is just the gobbledly-gook:

mo-chi-ri-so-ra-ri-mo su-i-n-mi-ra-ri-shi-to
ni-shi-i-mi-ka-ni-ka-n a
wa-a-ya-nu-u-nu-wa-yo-wa

ri-ni-so-i-mi-to-i so-ri-chi-to-to fu-wa
(small yo)-pa-ni-su-i-ha-ri-n-wo
so-ni-ka-ni-tsu-i-mi-to-ku-ni-se
na-mi-ri-ra-mi-ha-ni-su-mo-i-shi

...gobbledly-gook or Secret Message? OR, a mystical Ancient Ones chant to awaken the sleeping Cthulhu from R'Yleh beneath the sea?! Now, where's my copy of the Necronomicon... (OOPS! Wrong Fan Base) It's peobably just the words to a rain dance. ;-)

Actually, I was thinking of doing a BabelFish translation of the English for that text.
