I like the Bandiagarans and am sure Kaylee will be able to get their big monstrosity of a machine working again for them, perhaps make a modification so they can get to the parts that get clogged up and stop the workings. Had to smile at the end with all that match making - Mal and Inara getting wed there? Juju is such an optimist but you never do know... Ali D :~)

Kaylee with her rim-world sensibility will have been a godsend for these people. I think the old generator might be good and done for, and even if it could be fixed, it'd break again in a week. But, something tells me that Kaylee might work her magic on the new generator that can take rugged environments again, and maybe stretch it to provide electricity to the whole village.

Thanks for the comments. Glad you liked the part about the filthy lucre, ZM--that's one of the dramatic highlights for me in this segment. To those who are wondering if there will be a Bandiagaran wedding: we shall see. Though I don't think it'll involve a hat made out of a tree. And to those who are thinking that something bad is bound to happen: remember that 2-ton metal-spike-covered shoe that Nutluck felt was looming in the offing a few chapters ago? Well, it's still looming, and it WILL be dropping. But probably not quite in the way you imagine it will. After all, Nutluck is quite correct in pointing out that, strangely enough, no one has actually been shot since the slave break-out on Ni Qiu many, many weeks ago. Seems almost unnatural, for Firefly.

Hello ebfiddler,
So the folk on that little transport vessel aren’t so bad once the people of Fajara get to know them a little better. That community is just as I picture what a small village or town would be. Not so trusting of outsiders when you don’t come across that many.
I’d kinda like to see Serenity’s crew do more for the folk, yet I think Mal and his crew shouldn’t drop their guard completely. I mean after all they do seem a bit like the folk on Triumph that time.
Seems some of the folk in that village might be a little jealous of the freedom Serenity provides the crew of that Firefly? They are able to break atmo and move on to other things, while if you’re a Fajaraian you’re stuck within the small confines of the world you find yourself in. Maybe I’m looking at it wrong, and maybe without the experience, the people don’t know what they’re missing….. Be interesting to find out more about this world.
