Oh that's neat. I love world building. This 'verse has such potential for mix and match or using actual culture. Good for also highlighting little known problems and issues people face.

ZM, glad you liked Jayne's song. The entire version of it can be found on YouTube. With my luck in adding links, I'm just going to say, Look it up. Personally, that song has me ROTLF, and even if its style is not exactly the kind of music I envision Jayne listening to, its substance is just so appropriate that I couldn't resist. Nutluck, on account of this segment being so SHORT (a mere 3300 words), I will post Part 7 one day early!

Also, Mal trying to make friends with an untrusting lot of folk. Things can get ruff in the verse. Enjoyed this chapter…..

The post a comment box was missing when I read the previous chapter (5) so want to say how much I **loved** it! Everything was brilliant, you have River to a tee and her interaction with Mal when they were outside the ship was lovely. My favourite bit though is right at the end where Simon demands answers from Ip about Blue Sun and it looks like he is actually going to give them. Hooray, at last! Off now to read this part then I'll post another commnent. This story rocks. Ali D :~)

Thanks, everyone, for comments. Glad you appreciated the background info on my fictional world of Bandiagara. Ali D, so nice to see you back again. I'm glad you liked Part 5. We'll eventually find out more about what Ip told Simon. Title of the story--it's significant. The local people--they're so used to outsiders coming in to exploit, it's no wonder they're a bit suspicious. But Mal finally figured out the right calling card. BPZ, ZM, Byte--I always thought Juggling Geese would make a good name for a rock group, or the 26th c equivalent thereof. (Hey, by that time, rock music might be considered "early classical music"--like the pop music of the Renaissance is now.) Anyway, I've been waiting a long time to put forward my alternative view on the whole "juggling geese" issue. :-) Jayne will definitely get his T-shirt.

Jayne's favourite sports team is "The Fighting Elves," so somehow "Juggling Geese" doesn't surprise me.

Maybe the people of Bandiagara will cajole him into playing a few songs on his guitar.
