It belongs to Joss and all those business people. I'm just playing.

Living on Serenity taught a person to maintain a certain attitude in the face of imminent danger. When every day brought hazards in spades, a man had to learn when to let it all go. A breath of clean desert-mountain air, a puff of breeze to lift one’s hair, a peaceful blue sky over a quaint valley of tall pines, gold-green aspen, and solidly build wooden homes: these things Wash could pause to enjoy, though all the hounds of hell may very well be nipping at his heels.
Kaylee also had a talent for basking in a convenient moment. She took to the clean, warm air and cheery, bright sun of Oeneus as if she’d never known anything less. Serenity’s mechanic stood next to Wash at the edge of the fueling station, a wide stony platform carved into the rock at the side of a low valley. Her eyes climbed the show-topped grey mountain peaks to the west before returning to the town before her, and she drank in the scenery as if she was parched for such innocent, natural beauty.
“How d’you think all them rocks got to be how they are?” she asked.

PotemkinVillager - there was a worse typo in Ch 16, but don't look now. I've fixed it!
I'm sorry, I'm too stunned for anything else right now. :O
She'll be fine. They'll come back and she'll have made Reaver stew for them. There won't be hardly any Ginger at all in it.
Might want to buy a mop while they're out, though.
Yeee, update! :)
I wonder, Ells never did confirm Reavers, it was an assumption the crew jumped to. What River says we can only interpret with the information WE have, not yet the information she has. I smell some tricksy.
M4P, you're posting once and sometimes mor than once a week. That isn't limping in my book.
Another wonderful Kaylee! I like how easily you handle her natural charm and bring out the sweetness I enjoy in the series without dragging it into a saccharine exaggeration. Same with Wash, you do a nice job with his particular brand of frustration. Papa Wash, heh.
The Reaver reveal was wonderfully handled. Just that mention of its irregular flight patterns and it's almost like watching the whole thing on screen and realizing along with Zoe. Chilling! Only to be topped again by JAYNE! That's just so harsh. SO harsh. I cannot believe he is that cold. Even if he once dropped a partner out of a flying shuttle.
Mal being all eager to go with Inara.. methinks he was putting on a happy show for some reason. Wanting to talk to her, certainly, but even with Kaylee's intervention he was pretty down last chapter, so I think Inara is in for something unpleasant, whether Mal notices or not. Does he want to get her expert opinion on how to talk to River about what they did? Oh dear. :( Unless Reavers get them first, of course. It's Inara's turn to rescue him again, right? :)
I was extremely pleased with the short wait for this chapter, btw. Very excited for more! Action and suspense ahead!
