None of them knew just what it was that Simon and Jayne had done to make Kaylee so angry, or what she had threatened to do to either of them if they didn't comply with her variety of punishment, but everyone was present in the cargo bay - no one wanted to miss the grand entrance.

There was a nervous cough, and then all eyes turned to high above where Simon slowly descended the steps, palms sweating, fuzzy pink bunny feet preceding him.

"Oh! Isn't that the most precious thing ever?!" squealed Kaylee in vindictive delight as he came into view, clad head to toe in a bright pink bunny suit.

"He looks like a pink nightmare!!" Mal snorted, trying less than overly hard to contain his amusement.

River burst into giggling laughter and Simon glared at her. "Shut up, River," he grumbled.

"He does look miserable," agreed Zoe, nodded with a grin.

Wash tilted his head, holding his chin as he appraised the giant bunny. "I think the pink really brings out his eyes. And his ears. And that cute little tail," he said facetiously.

"Hey! That tail belongs to me!" Kaylee said, swatting Wash's arm playfully. "The little'uns are gonna love it!" she said, smiling widely. "An' you can wear it for later," she staged whispered making Simon close his eyes with a wince.

"Kaylee—" he pleaded but she cut him off.

"Ah, ah, ah! You know the alternative!" she chastised, and he shut his mouth instantly, sulking.

Mal leaned toward Inara. "Remind me to not ever get her mad at me," he whispered and Inara shook her head in silent agreement.

"You're a hard woman, mei mei," the Companion said as she shook her head with a grin, feeling sorry for the poor d

Your mind works in strange and mysterious ways. Could any two people be as different as Simon and Jayne?

Somehow, I think Jayne's gone round the bend. But I love their reactions.

Augh...and I thought putting Jayne in a dress was bad enough! (which you will remember was your idea)but with the pink bunny suits you upped the ante quite a lot. I think I'm just gonna have to post mine now, share the horror.

I think I must have read this on LJ, but whatever, it's brilliant! I love that Jayne is happy being a six foot four bunny, while Simon can't wait to go and hide! And I wonder what they'd done to Kaylee ...

It makes me wonder, too! It must have been so objectionable that she thought long and hard about what to do to them, and they were so indefensibly in the wrong that they had to agree. Jayne as a gleeful bunny is a very scary notion, indeed.

Or perhaps, rather like a peace offering of a mouthful of whiskey, Jayne decided to show some solidarity...

No. What am I thinking? He's wanted to wear that bunny suit since EASTER. Something about it being soft. On the skin. OMGhesnotwearingUNDAS! D:

Why

Next thing you know Mal will want it for a disguise, or to weird out a customs officer enough that they don't want to look very close at the ship. And we will KNOW THINGS about the bunny suit. Things we SHOULDN'T.

I like the idea of the customs officer. Can you SEE their face?

Maybe Simon and Jayne are long-lost siblings finally reunited (before your very eyes!)...in the outfits they were separated from each other in toddlerhood.

Or are we going for the "crazy cap'n" look instead?

hahaha. most definately non-cannon. But, given the appearance of a fish in tails in Better Days, perhaps we could do it as a fantasy sequence...
