A/N: Well, I've done it again, woke up after a bender with a fully fledged fic in my mind. And of course, that fic involves alcohol. Dear dear.
I'm really happy with this, so I'd really appreciate comments. And also, I know I should probably get myself a beta, but what can I say, I'm lazy.
PLEASE comment
Self Restraint, Self Destruction
It was one of the hardest things he’d ever done, but he did it. He gripped her trembling shoulders firmly, pushed her warm body away from his, dragged her soft lips off his own, parted them. Even as he released a soft groan at the sensations she was causing, he stopped her. He had to.
Kaylee’s confused eyes blinked open. “Simon…”
“We can’t,” he told her, slurring slightly. Realising that some of the effectiveness may therefore have been lost, he repeated himself. “We can’t,” he said more firmly.
Her small, seductive smile had already crept back onto her face, weakening his resolve, but even as she moved in she swayed a little. “Course we can,” she cooed, planting a light kiss on his neck.
His eyes fluttering despite themselves, he reclaimed his grip on her shoulders, but didn’t move her. Her lips were dancing over his skin, setting him on fire, making his head spin. Or was that the alcohol?
Oh, right. The alcohol. Simon forced his eyes back open, basked in the Kaylee-induced ecstasy for a moment longer, before pulling them apart once more. “N…no, we can’t,” he stammered insistently.
She pouted, running her deft fingers down his chest, flicking over the bare skin revealed by his open collar. He suppressed a moan.
“Why can’t we?” she asked softly, sulkily, eyes wide and bright. Stepping towards him once more, she stumbled, and he grabbed her to stop her from falling, from banging her head on her ladder, from anything.
Simon looked at her pointedly, as if she’d answered her own question, but she didn’t appear to click, instead using her regained proximity to shift suggestively against him. She smiled as she felt
Really great ending too - sweet and hot with almost nothing graphic!
Excellent job balancing the "properness" that pisses Kaylee off vs. the constant overreactions she has to Simon trying to treat her "right".
I'm not sure I agree with Kaylee going as far as she did with Jayne. I tend to think thoughts of Simon would intrude and not let her get that far, even if she wanted to do it to spite him. But it was an ok plot device anyway.
And, Simon, oh, I'd have let him punish Kaylee a bit more. But, love won out and he forgave her quickly . . .
The below, however, made me gigle out loud because I can just see Simon saying it:
>He grinned wickedly up at her. “Relationships are all about compromise.”
And the end, nice and hot without being too graphic. Though, I wouldn't have complained if you'd added a bit more - detail . . . :)
You've right about Kaylee being sensitive to things Simon says and does because she likes him. And ends up overreacting to a lot of things that if she didn't have those feelings for him, would matter very little.
You can't take the sky from me
Seriously, I gotta give you props for what you've post here. No one featured in this chapter gets off cleanly here...and so they shouldn't. Kaylee and Simon are both stuck too much in the cultures of their birth when it comes to how a person shows attraction/interest/love to someone, and it bites them in their asses...Jayne takes advantage of a drunken Kaylee because he's been pining for her and thought Kaylee had finally come to her senses...Simon and Kaylee basically ending their relationship in separate moments when the other partner has done something they classify as colossally stupid...nobody is deserving of peace when the critiques come out. And so it should be.
