The sound echoed off the walls of the cargo hold as though it would never stop. The roar was somehow more than bestial but undeniably had its origins in a man. A large man, in fact. A large man, broad in muscle and rather scruffy in appearance, hunched over a crate that had nearly fallen on his booted toes. So heavy was the crate, in fact, that strapping Jayne Cobb was unable to move it more than a few yards before something egregious went wrong in his body and he dropped it.

Wash, wearing an aberrantly concerned look on his otherwise jovial face, was immediately beside Jayne, a hand on his arm. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” he grunted, shaking Wash off. Jayne straightened up very slowly, his right hand pressed against the crease that joined leg, hip and abdomen. He winced.

“Um, no, I don’t think you are.”

“I’m thinkin’ maybe I pulled somethin’.” Jayne began moving awkwardly away from the boxes. Wash stayed close to him, hands floating near Jayne’s body, hesitant to anger the mercenary by touching him out of an unmanly sense of concern.

“Do you want me to help you to the infirmary, have Simon look at you?”

“No, gorram it!” He swung an arm wildly to his side to shoo Wash away. “I’m fine. I’m just gonna go lay out for a while.” Jayne continued to grumble as he limped out of the cargo hold. Once he was in the corridor, and out of Wash’s earshot, he groaned loudly through gnashed teeth, “Liu kou shui de biaozi he houzi de erzi”. {“son of a drooling whore and a monkey”} It suddenly seemed like a very long trek from the common room to his bunk nearest the bridge. He didn’t even want to think about the ladder.

It would turn out that the walk was nearly tolerable but the ladder was sheer torture. Jayne felt as though he were being stabbed each time he extended his leg even slightly, and he knew of stabbing from personal experience. By some luck he could not reconcile, he was finally on his bunk. Jayne drew his knees up to his chest and locked them there with muscular arms. If not

ok. I think Simon most certainly is "sly." And I liked how you handled them both. I've always had a love/hate thing for Jayne and you played that for me very well. I like your style and your way with slash. Nice job capturing both men's personalities. If Josh likes slash, he'd LOVE this one of yours. Thanks!

LOL. Sorry, but it's masked woman. :0) Just a roving eye and mind loving all of Firefly and desperate to see more of my characters--in any light. And if the light they're displayed in happens to be a lamp shaded with a dark red scarf of NC17, well....I get side benefits! Or would that be bottom benefits? Well, anyhow. Loving your work. Please please please keep it up. :0)

Oh, my!

That's not a coupling I would have put together on my own, but very nicely done!

Thanks ;)

One point: Simon's medical bag is RED. Remember--"my room, red bag" in Serenity, and he carries it toward the derelict in Bushwhacked.

Also SerentysMyBoat, if there's no stigma when Enara takes a female client, why should anyone care when two men get together? The concept of "situational homosexuality", wherein folk in a single-sex living situation (prison, military, non-coed boarding school) pair up is well documented. In Out of Gas we see that Jayne moved over from an all male crew on another boat. I'm sure he's spent a fair part of his career deprived of female companionship. It can't have been his first time.

"Thankfully for Jayne, he never applied thought of any caliber to free offers of rumpy-pumpy." LO Friggin' L! I believe that line alone should quell any confusion on whether Jayne minds some Tab A into Slot B with a man or not! This fic is so much fun and so much moisture that I feel like I'm on gorram slip n slide. And that's a good thing. The only let down, if it really even could be called one, is when it turned out the action was only a liquor soaked dream of Jayne's. But then you got my heart rate up again by Jayne asking Kaylee to send Simon to his cabin. LOL! Loved that, loved this. You done the pairing good.

Hmm, I actually like them together. Quick, show me a pick of Jewel!

mmmm I loved that fic! Especially the supirse ending, also I loved the- son of a drooling whore and monkey oath. Although I don't take to kindly to the idea of Jayne being called "scruffy" Have you seen the guy? He is too good looking to be called "scruffy"

Wow, I just read a Simon/Jayne fic and I didn't die. That's a-m-a-zing. Seriously. It takes incredible talent to make me like a story with this pairing, and you've made me LOVE it.

Now I pose a question.

Can we have a fic like this where an intimate examination of Kaylee leads to glorious, brilliant sex?

Darn it, forgot to sign in.

That up there was me, the last comment!

Once again, awesome!

I agree with Wanmei. Can we? Please?! A nice, thorough examination?

And I never thought I would EVER admit this but damn, this story was good...and the punchline...laugh...it was Jayne dreaming! ROTFL

I read this ages ago, but I failed to say how much I loved it. It is hilarious! And I have recommended it to friends before because I think it is one of the funniest Firefly fan fics ever written.
