Where the River Flows pt 3: The Evil That Men Can Do

Thursday, June 1, 2006

Hey guys, I'm REALLY sorry it took so long to post this, but I just started my new work schedule right after I posted the last installment of Where the River Flows, so I've been too tired mostly to get on the puter. Anyways, this is basically after Jayne's capture, WARNING: Mild torture, some violence, and detailed gore (no blood and guts, but descriptions of violence-inflicted wounds). River, Mal and Zoe go in to save the day.

CATEGORY: FICTION    TIMES READ: 3797    RATING: 9.0 (NC17)    SERIES: FIREFLY

"Oh, God! Cap'n! You're all tore up!" Kaylee ran to the open cargo bay door to Mal, who was dripping blood on the cold metal floor. His nose was broken, and he had several deep slashes along his torso and arms.

Zoe was also wounded fairly badly. Simon noticed her limping as she walked off the mule, her hip obviously dislocated, while her torso sported roughly the same damage Mal's had.

River was still curled up on the cargo bay floor, completely oblivious to the activity going on around her. She had no tears left, and was simply rocking back and forth, whispering strange words to herself.

Simon looked around nervously. "Where's Jayne?"

Mal looked over at Simon, his face fierce with anger at what they had just gone through. "Jayne got took. There was about ten men near the bog we got lost at. Two was in fancy suits." He looked over at River quickly before looking back at Simon. "Blue gloves."

"Two by two! I told you. I explained all the math, all the math in the 'Verse, and I said . I said blue." River looked around frantically. "Two times two is four , times blue... times..."

Simon looked nervously at River, then back at Mal. "Why don't you and Zoe wait for me in the infirmary?"

Mal nodded, tight-lipped and turned to Zoe to help her.

"Mei mei, let Kaylee take you to your bunk so you can rest okay?" Simon leaned down to lift his sister from the floor as Kaylee walked toward them, but instead River flinched and stood up suddenly.

"No! We go now. They're going to hurt him. Bits and pieces lying on an operating table while his body comes back. Now! I need Jayne, now!" River started toward the mule, expecting everyone to follow. Instead, Mal stopped her gently, resting his strong hands on her shoulders while looking River in the eye.

"Listen to me, lil 'Tross. We need a plan. You know what happens when we go off all half-cocked. We end up gettin' hurt, and there's always a chance we fail, and Jayne gets hurt even worse." Mal wiped the single tear that rand

DAMN...awesome. SO totally worth the wait. Can't really think of much coherent stuff to say...so glad Jayne is safe...or, as safe as any of them can be...I hope...

More SOON? Puh-leeeze?

YAY!! I love your fanfics and was getting antsy as the days turned to weeks. BUT, this one more than makes up for it. My only critism is that it's "passed out" not "past out." Tiny thing which doesn't change my opinion an ounce. Great stuff! Just don't go so long without posting the next one.

Thank goodness they got Jayne out. River was awesome and pretty much unstoppable. If that isn't a warning to everyone in the 'verse to leave her man alone I don't know what is! Ali D :~) You can't take the sky from me

Wonderfully done. Always fun to let River kick some Alliance ass! Now she gets to nurse her man back to health . . . :)

And since Simon is there while Jayne tells River she 'gave' him something . . . is he going to know about Jayne's new 'gift'?

Looking forward to more as always! So write faster:)

"Good. I'm going to kill them."

And it had better be slow and mercilessly.

"You're going to get us as far through the retinal scans as you can. If you don't, you'll watch as I gut your wife and three year old son, dong ma?"

Ai-ya tien-ah, this is good stuff.

At this point I have come to the end of your writings, so I will make you the same offer I have made to other people. I will make you cookies and send them to you if it will help to inspire/motivate you to post another chapter of this wonderful story. Think about it. :)
