Let Her Live

Just something that comes out of my twisted mind at intervals (No more writers block, yay!!!! Niska, Kaylee, Simon, a gun... can this be any good? Short, but potent.

Kaylee held the gun to Simon's head. Around her, Niska's bodyguards had their rifles trained on her, ready to gin her down if she did anything not according to plan. Simon was breathing heavily, his breath ragged from the torture he had gone through. And that she had witnessed. Whatever pain he felt, she felt just as potently in her heart. Her gift and her curse. The light that had formerly inhabited his eyes was gone.

Kaylee had tears streaming down her face, saying "No, no, no," over and over and over again. Behind her, Niska spoke up, looking greedily on the young couple, like some prive collector finding some valuable oddities at auction. "Now, we shall meet the real you. No need to mess up such beauty as yours, my pretty flower. The soul is more potent. Now, you must shoot him. It has been a long, long time since there has been one such as you in here. I will... enjoy meeting the real you." The memories of Simon being held down and tortured were seared into her mind. Every time she had screamed for him, Niska had laughed.

Now, they expected her to kill the one she loved. If she did... then she would go free. She had Niska's word on that.

A single shot. She wasn't Mal; she couldn't save herself now. Only Simon could save her... in death.

She looked into simon's eyes, deep windows of blue. Slowly, he nodded once. Yes. Lether live. Do what will to me, but let her live.

Let her live. Kaylee closed her eyes and, slowly, pressed down on the trigger. To heal all Simons wounds. All is forgiven in death.

That was so sad!

I half expected her to turn the gun on herself, not wanting to live if she couldn't be with him.

you are twisted

I'm afraid Mal understands Kaylee too much to let her get into such a situation without getting he himself killed.

Good writing.
