30 days left... Again, it's late and I find myself at work. I was at a customer site until 8pm working on a gorram piece of equipment out of commission since I went on vacation last week. I let the customer's guilt trip flow off my back like...well you know. The machine is running fine now, and the customer is placated, at least until next time. Anyway, I came back to the office and called Japan in order to talk about the next four weeks. I thought it might be a good idea to check in and see what plans had been made for my replacement. Imagine my surprise at hearing that there were no plans. Apparently they're just starting to meet in order to discuss this issue and I'll learn more by the end of the week. *sigh* To add insult to injury, they told me that I have to go to Canada in two weeks to troubleshoot a humdinger of a problem that's been waiting for resolution for months now. Our Singapore reps are really supposed to be handling this, but they've decided to shirk it off on the factory because the guy Singapore sent last week got stopped at the Canadian border with visa problems. (We always forget how lucky we are with the little things...) Somehow, someone in Japan figures that it'd be a good idea to send me out instead. They have a wicked sense of humor there in Japan... how do I know? Well, the equipment I need will have to be sent to me and should arrive the day before I leave. It'll have Japanese software so I'll have to fumble through with hand-written instructions. And finally I'll be working on modules that they never trained me on in the eight years I've been with the company. Am I leaving just in time, or what??!! :banghead: Like I said...a wicked sense of humor. Still don't believe me? Think about it this way...if anything goes wrong, I'm the most expendable since I'm out of here in thirty days anyway! To make matters worse, my ability to "adapt-in-the-face-of-interesting-challenges" departed weeks ago... Yup, just up and took off. It was last seen fleeing, hand in hand, with my urge to get to work on time. Somewhere out there, someone is grinning a Cheshire Cat grin. (Cut it out, Rod...) You know, this blogging thing has gotten a bit weird now that I know that a friend of mine actually reads this thing... kinda like I'm in that "naked-on-stage in-front-of-everybody" dream... Is it just me? Then there was last night. I joined some friends for dinner at a nice little Italian place. The food was great and we all had a good time talking about what movies we had seen recently and what was going on in our lives since we'd last broke bread. I left just as the sun was dropping behind the mountains and as I drove, I realized that I wasn't really ready to go home. I rolled down the windows and cranked the Evanesence CD. A warm wind pulled at my sticky shirt and roared loudly in my ears. The light was that perfect blue that makes everything look clearer than it does even in full daylight. As I passed my exit, I listened to the wind and the music while incredible stories played themselves out in my mind. Somewhere in the back of my head I wondered if anyone else listened to the music and saw the same things I did. Amy Lee sang "My Last Breath" and I fell in love as will happen on warm summer nights. By the time the light had completely faded from the sky, I was on the edge of San Francisco with lights spread in front of me like it was christmas. It had felt really good to let everything go for awhile. I had forgotten work, packing, worrying...all of it vanished for as long as there was music and a highway... I didn't feel like driving SF, so I put on some Melissa Ethridge, turned around and found a little more highway to follow home.... I Want to Come Over -Melissa Ethridge

Yes… I am still around, for any of you who may have wondered. I was lurking on the board the other day and it came to me that I hadn’t chatted, posted, blogged, or really done anything but lurk on FFF.net for ages. Work has been taking up a large portion of my time, and not leaving much enthusiasm for anything else. :disappointed: For those of you who had been following my “Second Chances” Fanfic series, I’m sorry to report that it’s hit a huge wall, and I’m not sure when/if there will be another sequel/continuation coming out. :banghead: I have however been ever so slowly working on a sequel to “A Tale Of Werzbowski”, and an original sci-fi short story. But they have been fairly stagnant for the past month, so who knows if/when they’ll be done. :crap: So… to all the folk I usually chat with, and to all my other fellow Browncoats, I just wanted to say… “Ni Hao, how’s it going out there?” ‘Ski

SO I was walking around the block when a ships stopped to ask for directions.... no really, how is everyone doing. I have been busy busy busy...I am student teaching and making films, talk about having no time for yourself....sigh...the choices we make for the love of an artform. anyway I was sad to see no new postings by our beloved members of Serenity :(

Once again, the work dries up around here. The computer store's not picking up as fast as I want, but I just opened it, so it's not a surprise. Any ships about need honest work from an honest merc?

27 days left... So I make my way to the coffee machine this morning and one of the ladies I work with asks me point blank if I'm leaving. I tell her, "Yes, the end of the month is my last day." She was shocked but said she knew something was up when our office manager (Mr.X) asked me what my future plans were at our last luncheon. (We have these any time we lose or gain an employee. By the end of the year, we'll be at a -5 on the gain/loss ratio... Makes me wonder where the jobs reports on the news are really coming from.) My co-worker then confided in me that she was becoming unhappy with this place and wished she could leave, too. Unfortunately she has a husband and two kids so can't really leave unless or until she finds something else, first. (Is it me or is everyone secretly unhappy with their jobs/lives/other?? LOL!) -0- I had dinner last night again with friends. One guy's wife was a little shaken up by a small accident that happened when she brought their new car into the dealership for work. Apparently one of the dealership employees ran into my friend's car just as it was being picked up! Good news is that no one was hurt and the damage is cosmetic. Bad news is that the car is only 2 weeks old! (Of course the dealership is paying for all repairs and gave them a loaner, but what a way to "break" in a new car! I felt so bad for her because you could see she was still shaken up about it.) -0- Last night I also discovered something interesting that I hadn't really noticed before. My relationship with my friends up here has entered a weirdly strained phase. Voices get flat and they'll swap looks with each other when anything relating to my future, hopeful profession comes up in conversation. I don't want to bore anyone, so I avoid the topic unless directly asked. The weird part is that when they do ask about our progress, it feels like they don't really want to hear the answers. I remember my parents would get like this sometimes when I was doing something they didn't approve of. They'd ask a question and listen non-comittally, looking at me sideways as if to say, "You're making bad choices, but I'm not going to interfere because you need to learn these things on your own..." It makes me feel like the crackpot "inventor" relative, whose plans invariably go up in smoke while everyone looks on just shaking their heads saying "I knew that was going to happen." Could it be that my friends just aren't happy for me? That's an odd thing to say, and I'm probably off the mark, but it's there nonetheless. The worst part is, the nonchalance and disinterested nodding really kind of hurt. Still, it's helpful in a way because it makes me even more determined to see this thing through. Wow... too heavy for a Friday. -0- Today I booked my flight for Montreal. I leave Monday at 6am. (Flying on a holiday is going to suck, but I'm travelling one last time on the company's nickle, so how bad can that be? I'll just have to bring scriptwork along with me and remember to take pictures this time so I can remember where I've been. (I'm not a picture-taking kind of person. I've always found that strange considering my affinity for travel and enjoyment of interesting places and interesting moments.) -0- When Rod and I were up at the cabin, we asked ourselves the question about fate, luck and destiny. Both of us have known growing up that we wanted to do something creative with our lives but got sidetracked by life. So the question is, was it just luck or happy coincidence that brought us here, or did fate put this rabbit hole in front of us a long time ago? (You can think like that when it's late at night in the mountains.) One way to look at is is that it was blind luck. Neither one of us was looking for any of this to happen. Only luck could explain how so many random events could line up the right way. Of course then there's the thought that it was inevitable that we'd get to where we are now, but we needed to travel down our respective paths in order to be ready for the opp

Wow, never have made it to one of these 'till this weekend. There is so much STUFF to see. I'm a bit overwhelmed. I wish I had been able to get there earlier on Fri Night and seen the BDH's. Sounds like it was a fun time. However, seeing them Sat morning was a BLAST! It's clear that they really do dig making Firefly. Nathan, Jewel and Adam were fantastic. Told stories that made me laugh and tear up some, sang a bit of the theme song...it was great. The story about the big red button REALLY had me close to cry'n. (Alan took the big red button from OoG and gave it Joss as Firefly was done filming. Alan told Joss that when he needed them again, just hit it and they'd all come running back...) The room was PACKED too, folks were standing up along the walls it was so jammed. I'm sure that made the BDH's feel all that more appreciated. Heh, Nathan dubbed himself the biggest Fireflyfan in the world. I might have to agree w/ him there. He woulnd't shut up! Heh heh. He was crackin jokes about the trailer ( which I've not seen )and how it would sound if the voice over guy mispronounced everyone's name. Had to be there. Some neat confessions about Jewel and Morena that Jewel told us. Jewel is so not Kaylee, in that she is such a 'girlie girl'. Jewel can't fix much of anything and seldom knows what to do w/ a set of tools. To contrats, Morena is more of a tomboy, prefers jeans and a t-shirt to fancy outfits. So when she gets all made up for Inara, it's as much as a role reversal for her as when Jewel gets all dirty faced for Kaylee. Jewel says she was fascinated w/ the role of River, and that was her 1st choice. Curious to think about, Jewel playing the part of River. Glad Joss decided to go another way. Gonna head on back to the Con in a while. This should be fun.

This dragoncon weekend was great, thanks to Nathan, Jewel, and Adam. We had so much fun in our big Firefly group. It was the most amazing feeling to meet Nathan and have him JUMP up when seeing us and be like "OH MAN!!! I WISH I HAD MY CAMERA!!! THATS GREAT!" to all of us in costume. i will also be pasting the picture of me and him together on my forehead permenently. heres some pictures of all of us. yes, we know we look NOTHING like the actors. but then, how could we fill such fabulous shoes?

Until last night I could only claim one convert to the 'verse, that being my son. But...last night I invited a friend and his gf over for dinner and a movie, Firefly style. No, we didn't have protein in all the colors of the rainbow. We had some of my dynamite lasagna, but later we sat down to view "Serenity." I had told him a bit about it before, and he had heard about it but never saw it, and she had never even heard about it. Needless to say, they both enjoyed it a lot. We talked about it for at least an hour afterwards and they will be coming over to see some more eps as soon as our schedules permit. They both work weird hours so I don't know when that will be. Neither of them have a dvd player so probably won't be buying Firefly for a while, but after I told them how good all the other eps were, and the fact there are extra features and good Joss and cast commentaries on many of them, they kept looking at each other and saying "We've got to get a dvd player soon, don't you think?" Also, I'm still waiting to hear from an internet friend in Australia, who I finally convinced to get the dvds. Last time I heard he had watched the first two discs, but said he did not want to comment on it until he had watched the rest.

Just joined today after hearing about you at DragonCon (Thanks, Rich!)...I am glad to be here!

That could be me...really, it could. However, I guess I should tell people a little about me as I have spent the last month and a half, posting images and on threads as if I owned the joint. Mostly I keep to myself outside any circle of interest. For example, I roleplay, and the people I roleplay with, I get to know very well and spend alot of time with them. This led to my discovery of Firefly back in July. Wow! It was as if Joss Whedon had read my mind and made a show just for me. (Okay, I am a bit egocentric, but then again, who ain't? LOL) So now Firefly, and soon Serenity, is my newest circle, and on September 25th I will begin to meet with other fans at our Cincinnati Shindig, which if your in the area, send me a wave, and I'll get you the coordinates! Like Gojiro, he'll be there, and I suspect he and I will be discussing the nuances of manipulating images with Paint/Photo Shop! I am constantly amazed by his work, so check it out if you haven't yet. I am also dumbfounded and almost flabbergasted by the number of Firefly fans, not only here, but around the Earth-that-was! Firefly fans, for a large percentage of you, put other Sci-Fi fans to shame. That inspired me to do what I do here. Everyone is respectful, yet honest, and pretty much intelligent (I can not say the same for many of my former Trekker aquaintences) and everyone of you should take pride in being the best gorram bunch of fans in the 'Verse...bar none! Thanks for being loyal, and thanks for making me feel a part of something special...especially you, Joss Whedon, without whom, the rest of us Sci-Fi geeks might still be lost in a galaxy far far away or stuck on a 5 year mission. Kudos! John (a.k.a. Tenth Crew Member)

I'm sitting here watching the episode again, and there comes a point where I say...." hey, wait just a minute". While I'm sure many smarter folk than I figured this out LONG ago, it just dawned on me. Duh. The plan was simple. Mal and Zoe get aboard the train, work their way back to the 5th car, find the cargo, lower Jayne down onto the train for some thrilling heroics, and as Kaylee puts it... " we bundle up the booty, and haul'em all back up." Simple. Only 1 small problem. Why leave the door to the luggage car cracked open and rigged w/ a smoke screen canister if you're not planning to go back out that way? Doors that are left open generaly signal something is a miss. If an Fed comes back and sees the door closed... no big deal - it's a closed door to a luggage car. If he see's it cracked open and can hear a ruckus going on inside.... that's a clue that something's up. Here's an idea. Close the door and THEN rig it w/ the smoke screen canister! Now, I understand some minor flaws in the story line are sometimes needed to advance the rest of the story. Before B,C,and D occur, A must happen. And granted, per the commentary, this is the ep that they had to write over just 1 WEEKEND and have it ready by the time the suits come in Monday morning. So, I guess I could cut them SOME slack. I mean, why quibble about such small things as that when a better question would be..how'd they clean Crow out from the engine intake before they left the world ? Blech!

A story a friend sent me: T. Bechtol, part - time City Councilman from Pensacola, Florida, was asked on a local live radio talk show the other day just what he thought of the allegations of torture of the Iraqi prisoners. His reply prompted his ejection from the studio, but a thunderous applause from the audience. "If hooking up an Iraqi prisoner's scrotum to a car's battery cables will save one American GI's life, then I have just two things to say: "Red is positive" "Black is negative" ________________ So many things about this are bad. I know a city council man isnt exactly a pillar in our government, but its enough to make a headline that one of my friends would read (and trust me, my friends dont read...you have to glue their eyelids open to get them to read news). May we all live in interesting times....

I'm putting together a little shindig over in the clubhouse Friday. I've asked the Fireflies to perform. There will be food and drinks. We have lots of pillow seating and hammocks. I wanted to get the word out a few days early so you can make plans to log in, raise a glass, and listen to a few rocked-out cartoon themes. Could be fun. A special invite to all the newbies that have joined since con. You're welcome too of course. With school starting I know many of you are busy with work or class, but I hope you can make it. Stop by the clubhouse anytime, we'd be glad to show you around. We are still taking applications for minions, cabana boys, and handymen/women.

Yes, it's true! Hurricane Frances decided to visit Orlando at the same time I was supposed to be there for a Huge Martial Arts Convention (complete with semenars... ouch!). :fork: That darned system then moved northward into my backyard and caused much rain and flooding. Basically my vacation was washed out... And so I put all my free time to gooduse (well, not all of it, just some of it) and wrote my first Firefly Fanfic. I'm hoping to have the 6th and final chapter up by Sunday night.

Just a reminder that voting for the Strawberries ends on Friday. No one participated in the poll to see if it should be delayed, so I'm assuming that almost everyone who will vote has. To those of you catching up because of late conversion or busy lives, hope you enjoy reading all the nominees regardless. Our website coordinator lives in Florida, so I can't guarantee speedy announcement of the winners. Polls are programmed to close automatically though on friday at midnight. It's been fun. Most likely will be reprised again next year following the movie's exit from theaters.

Ah... so this is my first blog entry here. I've decided to start today since it is my first day of school (in about 8 hours - I should probably be asleep right now. Ooops.) It's weird, I've been looking forward to starting again since about June when I realized I was sick of my retail job and needed to get my degree finished so I can get a job that does not involve the phrase "customer service." But now, I'm not so ready. It's like I've been standing in line for ages, hoping to get to the end but when I finally get near to the front I realize that I like the familiarity of the line. At least when I'm in the line, I know where I am. I don't know what I've lined up for. I don't know what is at the front. (end long winded metaphor ) So basically tomorrow signifies for me a fresh start, a new beginning. Maybe this will be the year things finally change. Two years ago I was a university freshman wondering the same things. I guess the only way to find out is to get ready to start the day, to see where the (academic) year will lead. What's at the head of the line is anyone's guess.

Mine is "reverie"... Anyways... It's been a while since I've blogged (that a word?) and I guess I should update... College: So far So good. I've been having a blast. It's so much better than high school was for me and I just really like it... so far... TV: Monk and Dead Zone came and went. Now it's time for the Fall Lineup, sadly and reluctantly without a Whedon show... (Still grudging on that) Hawaii looks fun and Las Vegas (Yes, I like it, so what?) is returning... I just recently began watching X-Files reruns and it's nearing the end of the 9th season and I'm kinda pissed because just as I'm getting invested in Doggett and Reyes, it's gonna end... dammit... The Sit:Com thing, is not going so well... I think I'll blame it on severe writers block... I may need a better muse... Other than all that, I'm still alive so that's always a good thing... Although, if I happen to die before I get to see "Serenity" I'm asking for a reprieve...

Had some Firefly/Serenity cards that I picked up from the Browncoat table a DragonCon. Not the downloadable kinds, but the 'things to do' business card types. I should have taken more, but ...anyway. I swooped into Target. Looking for Firefly Box set - nodda. So I decided to leave a calling card or 2. The DVD area is pretty limited and unorganized, but I found an Angeldvd, and left one card there. Then at Blockbuster, I left a few cards....one in front of a Trekies dvd, another buy an XBox Riddick game, and I forget where else. I'll use some of the downloadable flyers that I snagged. Prob try those at Best Buy or maybe at a coffee joint. Oh, per the discussion that there will likely be an animated version ( please ) of Serentiy, I finally checked out AniMatrix and Chronicles of Riddick : Dark Fury. Just gonna try to get a feel for how those are and see what might be in store for us Browncoats.

I'm a fanfic writer. I'll admit to that. I wrote my first Buffy fic back in the third season and a friend of mine actually said it was good. Now that caught me by surprise. First off, I hadn't told her where the find the story, but secondly, I hadn't really considered the story to be all that good. I still don't when I find myself visiting the website where it's posted. I just like to write. Most times I think my stuff is crap and I don't end up finishing it but sometimes, by some freak miracle, I do complete something that doesn't make me cringe and I find the guts to post it. Right now I'm writing a Firefly fic, for no apparent reason, and I can't stop. It's weird, having this constant flow of ideas. Usually with a Buffy or Angel fic of mine, I have this initial burst of inspiration but it quickly wears off and I end up with a section of story that's going nowhere. I'm entering about the middle of the Firefly fic and I don't hate it. I know, I'm shocked my own self. Okay, so I'm worried about characterization and whether I'm using too many Chinese phrases in one part of the story, but I haven't had any thoughts about giving up. That's inspiration for ya. Maybe when I'm done writing, I'll post it here. Of course, that’s after a beta reader has seen it. Anyone?

Keeps what away, I wonder? Well, maybe I'll find out. Never tried this blogging stuff before. It's late-- though not for me-- and I'm tired, and cranky, and I should go to bed, but I don't want to, so I'm finding things to do with myself in the meantime. Mostly, I'm trying to find a house to live in. God, but I would like to have a house, and not be renting anymore. Soon, soon, soon. Today I went and saw my parents for the first time in a long time. This would be why I am tired and cranky now. :banghead: We don't get along. At least things were mostly civil this evening. Well, enough whining for now I guess. Hopefully tomorrow will be easier. Okay, I feel the need to blog. I need some sort of platform from which to share these next two weeks of anticipation, aprehension and a lot of stress. On September 24 at 6:30 in the evening, I will watch my bride-to-be come walking down the aisle to become my wife. Now that thought brings all sorts of good feelings while at the same time making my think "just what in the hell am I doing?" I've had some commitment issues for a long while (revealing time here, folks) due to my heart being very viciously broken in the past by a girl that I thought loved me. Now don't get me wrong; I love my fiance, and I'm looking forward to the "Do you Aaron take Nicole...", but it took me a long time to get to the point where I could open up again without having to constantly fear that I would get my heart stomped on again. Hell, I broke up with her twice, not because I stopped loving her or because she stopped loving me, but because I was afraid of getting close to someone again. She took me back both times, though, and somehow restored my faith in that not everyone is out to ruin my life. She's good for me, and good to me. Better than I'm worthy of, believe me. So for now, I'll deal with the jitters and put together more furniture in our apartment (typical male here: before any other furniture was in the apartment, I had the entertainment center built with the TV all hooked up and working). If anyone has any advice for me these next 2 weeks, PLEASE GIVE IT!! This is Soul, signing off. Until next time, folks.

Ni Hao, Browncoats! It's been a while since I made a Blog entry about the development of this board game. If you have no clue what I'm talking about... Firefly: The Board Game is a game for one to nine people ages 10 and up. It is played co-operatively, meaning all of the players compete against the "game" to win collectively. It can be played in 1 - 2 hours depending on the luck and experience level of the players. Further instructions on how to assemble the game can be found in the link below.

18 days... I had fallen asleep somewhere over Wichita with my headphones on using my rolled up sweater as a lumpy pillow. (Take it from me, if you aren't flying first class, the window seat is the only seat for sleeping on a plane because you can rest against the bulkhead. If you're a 'coat, you can almost feel Serenity cradling you in her arms.) In my dream the ground was covered by a thin fog but I could barely make out any details in the fading light of an almost spent day. I felt the rush of wind in my hair but couldn’t hear it in my ears. Then I saw lights go on far below and for some reason, I dove, plunging like a stone. Vertigo gripped my gut in a fist and stretched my insides like a rubber band. I felt like I was a child again on the big kids’ swing with my eyes closed daring myself not to make a sound. I don’t know how the dream ended. I kind of just found myself focusing with eyes that burned some from lack of sleep and seeing the screens flip down to show the in-flight movie. When I dream of flying there’s always the dizzying sensation of falling, but it's not real. It's just the memory of vertigo. Most people don’t like those dreams, but I really enjoy them. The thought that my mind has convinced my body that I’m falling to the point that I feel the sudden drop and dizzying fear-excitement fascinates me. I watched the movie and polished off a seven-dollar sandwich (you have to pay for the food on-board now) and a diet Pepsi. Abandoning all hope of falling back asleep, I pulled out my computer and finished typing up my report about the customer visit. I’d already told my contact in Japan about the issue over the phone, but after a week of travel there's always someone who wants to see a written record of what you did. When I spoke to him, Ken congratulated me on my “last, successful mission” for the company and told me to take myself out to dinner to celebrate. He’s always been a great guy and it was kind of sad to think “last mission” thoughts. Lack of planning aside, it felt really good to rush to a crisis with confidence in myself and my ability. You know, I know what I'm doing isn't exactly a matter of life or death. I mean, it really pales in comparison to the worries and suffering in a lot of other people's lives. All I’m doing is becoming unemployed and moving to a new town. It's not as if people aren't doing this everyday. (Actually I won’t be “unemployed”, I’ll just be “unpaid”. Well, unpaid in money, anyway…) Still, it’s fascinating that the “worker bee” programming is so strong that it sometimes feels as if there's a knife blade pressed against the meat of my soul telling me to rethink my decision. Fear is still trying to hold me hostage. That's kind of funny to realize. I’ve packed up the kitchen and bathroom. The clothes I don’t wear regularly are in suitcases and duffle bags. My desk is empty and my bookcases are bare. I’m not close to being done yet, though. Lots of stuff shoved into closets needs to be dragged out into the light of day and I’ve yet to begin the cleanup. But the progress is still enough that I almost feel as if I’m in the apartment of a stranger. Bare patches and empty corners are starting to speculate in whispers about who the next tenant might be. My world is changing even as I watch, and if I close my eyes, I can feel the motion of the swing, the giant arc, and the sensation of flight. Like the memory of vertigo… These Dreams -Heart

How many times can you listen to the Ballad of Serenity in a constant loop? I think I'm working on over an hour now. . . . . I think I'm gonna be dreaming to this song. . . . Yet I can't shut it off. My friends and I are all plannin' our Browncoat costumes for this Halloween. We've already got a Wash and a Jayne, with another friend being either Kaylee or Zoe and me being either Kaylee or Inara. I need to think of a costume I could pull together for Inara, though. Hmmmmm. . . . Maybe I could go thrift store shopping. . . . see if there are any dresses I could alter to get an Inara look. . . . possibly. I'll have to go study my DVDs for ideas. But for now, I am off to go write. I have a book re-write that I need to finish soon, or it will drive me and my awaiting readers nuts! Sings: "Have No Place I Can Be Since I Found Serenity!" Peace out Browncoats.

All very much introductory stuff about the movie and characters, till the very last line , about the crew.....Hunted by vastly different enemies, they begin to discover that the greatest danger to them may be on board "Serenity" herself. This clearly is a comment about River, isn't it ? Why would River be a danger to the crew? Beyond making them all fugitives, is River capable of hurting any of them? (Besies Jayne, I mean.) CAN she really kill anyone w/her brain? It would seem so. I get a small twinge of 'ut oh .. cheese factor ' here when my mind starts to wander on about these things..then I remember what Jewel said at DragonCon ... " Trust Joss. He KNOWS what he's doing. " Anyway, it seems that this is some how related to the meeting the crew had in OiS. Is River MORE crazy in the movie ? Does she make progress, then something happens to make her revert to CRAZY River? Man, I'm asking too many questions here. :crap: But what if it's NOT about River? Could it be some one else ? Book, perhaps? Or maybe Jubal Early is stowed away somewhere ? What if it's Inara ? Ahhh! Killer Companions from outter space!! I'll just have to wait...grrr.

a judge of character? I watched 'the message' earlier tonight. I'm watching 'Jaynestown' now. I asked a family member to watch the show earlier tonight. I wanted them to "weigh in on what they saw on the show". I didn't specify any episode to watch. I just wanted an opinion. So....can we judge someone by there opinion of firefly? does it say something about their character? Because I like good discussion......so please let me know what you think!

Gorram thesis has eaten all my brain and all I can think of is "I still have those DVDs to watch for the fourth time!". Also, how can an use Firefly slang when I speak French? Aaaaargh!

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.... hmmm...so THAT's what it looks like typed out....sonuvagun... some things you just have to see for yourself... You know, I've spent so much time dwelling on the aspect of life changes that I need to go someplace else tonight. So I've put on a little mood music, made myself a sandwich, poured a glass of water and one of white wine and decided to visit a fonder place. The movie that Rod and I are working on is a Romantic Comedy called "Finding Love for Annie". I don't want to go into too much at the moment, but suffice it to say, I'm really happy with our progress so far. But thinking about how to express yourself in a story requires at least a little dredging of the past if only to bring up feelings to work with. To that end, awhile back, I wrote about someone I haven't thought of in years who brings me back to the first time I fell in love. They say that you never forget it, and I haven't, nor have I quite gotten over her despite the fact that I have not seen her for a quarter of a century. (I love how that sounds...) Anyway, I beg patience in this indulgence. I'll get back on track with goings on later. It was the summer of 1981 and I had just turned 14. I had finished freshman year and starting what looked to be a fantastically long summer spent playing sandlot baseball and listening to music. I had discovered music the year before and I was the proud owner of a slightly used portable radio with headphones along with a brand new turntable that I had gotten that Christmas. It was a cheap, off-brand, but I didn't care. It played music beautifully and it was mine. Besides, at the time I only had two albums to play, otherwise I had to borrow my parents music. I had the Car’s “Cars” album, which I had bought with my own money. (And would have sent my parents into apoplectic fits if they'd heard it despite it's being tame in comparison to most pop-music of today.) And I had the Star Wars soundtrack that my parents could accept (dark and menacing as it looked) mainly because it was symphonic. But I also had my radio. The first time you become aware of music, it's like you finally learned to see. Oh, I'd always heard it, sang in church and on the holidays, but prior to the year before, I never gave conscious thought to turning on the radio and choosing it! After I learned that little magic spell, I would spend hours at night listening to Blondie, Billy Joel, Sheena Easton, Pablo Cruz, Journey and on and on. But music wasn't the only great thing about that year. My best friend, Louie, had moved into the neighborhood not long before from LA. Louie's dad was the first divorced guy I knew and Louie was his first son by his ex-wife. Louie was a strange kid. Having lived in the gang area of LA, he had a reckless streak that came out at the worst times occasionally getting us into trouble. (One night when we were fifteen, we took my father’s car out for a drive even though neither of us really knew how. Fortunately it was an automatic. We even bought gas to replace what we’d used and were scared out of our minds the whole time we were on the road.) I would never have dreamed of trying that myself, but Louie could make an outrageous suggestion, follow it up with his devil-may-care, lop-sided grin and make it seem like the most reasonable idea in the world. Of course, being what everyone considered a "good kid" maybe I was a bit too trusting. We became pals that summer and, though I’d been friends with the other kids, Louie and I were tight. But as much as I quietly worshipped the guy's “crazy vato” act, the best part of that year began in mid-summer when Jenny moved into the neighborhood. Jenny had arrived after the start of summer with her parents and sister. Her parents were former counter-culture hippies who'd gone on to bigger things, but would never be able to shake the echoes of their youth. They were firm, but easy-going and always great adults to have around. Barbara was a big woman full of bright laughter like her daughter. Stro

One of my favorite memories of Jenny had to do with a game the neighborhood kids played. We lived in a community where the grounds were patrolled every evening by a guard who would drive up and down the streets and carports. Sometimes we would play “ditch the guard”, teasing him by flitting in the space between houses, dancing on the edge of his perception like ghosts as he cruised slowly by. We’d race ahead of him waiting for him to almost pass then make enough noise or movement to pique his interest enough for him to stop and turn on the big Delco searchlight mounted to the side of his car. Once Louie chucked a washer from behind a hedge at the patrol car that spanged off the hood. We must have spent a half hour that night making our way back to our houses, and even then the guard circled the area long afterwards like a tiger with a smarting tail. In today’s world of Terrorist Alerts and heightened security awareness this kind of game would be considered extremely foolish and possibly even dangerous. A neighbor might come out with a gun, or an overly aggressive guard might persue until he could take a bad day out on his quarry, but that world was slightly less scary that close to home. One night, five of us were hanging out in the carports, talking endlessly about nothing we would ever remember. The night was warm and the moon was barely visible and no one heard when the security guard's car quietly and unexpectedly rolled into the drive leading to the carports. Without warning the harsh white beam from the searchlight blazed to life and swept the carports a few rows over. Most of us broke for safety, scattering like mice, knowing we had bare seconds to ditch or just give it up and answer banal adult questions. I was already breaking for a route to safety when I heard Jenny let out a strangled little scream behind me. Looking back, I saw her with her arms pulled in close, her hands partly raised as if keeping a ghost at bay. Her eyes were huge and locked on to the swiftly moving light. She had never done this before and didn’t know how to react. “Jenny, Come ON!” I whispered as loudly and urgently as I could. “Let’s GO!” She turned her head in my direction, but her eyes were wide and wild and she was frozen in place. In what I would consider one of the true highlights of my admittedly young life, I ran the five steps back to her and grabbed ahold of her hand just as the searchlight reached out to her. One quick tug broke the spell and we flew down the hedge-lined walkway between houses, her hand tightly clenching mine. The car behind us lept forward like a predator, it’s engine loud and throaty and headed our way. The hedgerow was too long and it seemed for a moment as if we were caught, but we slid sideways into a bare spot where it had been partly cut away the week before for workers to get at some piping. Almost before the leaves stopped moving around us, the car pulled up even with the walkway, it's bright eye flooding the path in front of us, so white it bleached the color out of the dark green leaves. We pushed as deeply into the hedge as possible and I held her tightly to me hoping that we were safe. Much later, my brother would remark at the long scratches on my back made by the branches we’d backed into. He teased me, saying that I should get a girlfriend with shorter fingernails, but at the time I hadn’t noticed. Of course you probably could have openly scourged me at that moment and I wouldn't have felt it, because that’s when I really became aware of Jenny. In that way that boys have of not paying attention to what’s in front of them, I never really saw Jenny before. She was almost a year-and-a-half younger than I was which, by adult standards, means almost nothing but I was headed into my sophomore year in high school and she was still in Jr. High making the gulf huge and distinct like the opposite shores of a wide river. She was pretty enough, but I was already looking forwards to seeing a couple of other girls from my class that fall. Yet, there we were, our hearts b

I have not been on in a while, and it has been even longer since I submitted anything. The reason for this is (cue trumpets) my parents are divorcing, and I am currently with the parent whos does not have a computer. I'm using the schools to type this, but I must leave soon. I will submit a new story once I get a new computer.

Launched site and have an item up on www.fandone.com. I've had the idea for that kind of Web site for a while, but have not been actively involved in a fandom until I found Firefly. And now I'm thoroughly obsessed, so I figured it was time it became a reality. Eventually will have more Firefly/Serenity items up, but I just got own Alpha Tee last night and it was very cool. Had a lot of fun making the pictures for the Web sites, and I look forward to getting pictures of other fans' Alpha Tee creations. It'll could also be a useful trivia question for our Browncoats table in the dealer's room of the Dallas Comic Con (

13 days remaining... Getting a little prolific here, but as time grows short, I keep wanting to write stuff down someplace. What a great Friday! I had lunch with the two ladies in our office as a kind of going-away lunch. We decided to make the company pay and went to a great restaurant called Pappillon, a marvelous little French Restaurant. The ambiance was "vrai fantastique!" and the food... Lobster dumplings in a lobster cream sauce... a buttery tenderloin and a Romaine salad with a light vinegrette dressing and walnuts that had been sugar coated and caramelized... whoa! I better enjoy being spoiled while I still can... Still, the best part wasn't the food or the ambiance... it was being able to sit down with these two ladies and gripe! Typically we're in separate sections of the office and don't get a chance to just chat much, so it was a lot of fun swapping stories and talking about what we saw as the company flaws (many) and the possibilites looking forward (few). We also discussed my reasons for leaving which dovetailed into their reasons for not wanting to stay. Both were actually thinking about their options for leaving in the 2005 timeframe. Unlike true gossiping though, it had nothing to do with bashing anyone or saying anything bad about anyone in the company. It was more talking about a company that has great people, but doesn't seem to be able to find it's butt with both hands! Also, I finally told someone in our company what I'm really leaving the company to do! As predicted, they were tremendously surprised. Who the hell leaves a good job to do something crazy like making a movie? But they were very happy that I was going to start doing what I loved. Just the thought of getting started is enough to give me a charge nowadays. Rod and I must have spent at least half-an-hour talking about equipment and budgets and schedules just this morning. Even more good news today! (Today is really making up for what's been a so-so week emotionally.) I was told about my severence package today and it's about as good as I could hope for! If the company had been laying me off instead of having me leave, I probably would have done a lot better, but I'm not complaining! It'll make a big difference when it comes to what I'm able to devote to the movie's budget. (With everything we can muster going into the production, we're literally betting our futures on whether or not we can do this. New motto: "Faith is Really Diet Food.") So why am I so doggoned happy? :stupid: I AM THE ONE AND ONLY!! -Chesney Hawks (Lost song from the 80's...I feel old just listing it!!) Lyrics Call me. Call me by my name or, Call me by my number. Put me through it. I'll still be doing it the way I do it And yet, You try to make me forget Who I really am Don't tell me, I know best, I'm not the same as all the rest! I am the one and only! Nobody I'd rather be. I am the one and only! Can't take that away from me! I've been a player in the crowd scene A flicker on the big screen. My soul embraces One more in a million faces. High hopes and aspirations Ideas, above my station, maybe. But all this time I've tried to walk with dignity and pride... [Chorus] I can wear this uniform Without some compromises! Because you'll find we come In different shapes and sizes! No one can be myself like I can For this job, I'm the best man And while this may be true- You are the one and only YOU! [Chorus]

So this weekend was amazingly fun! It started Friday night. I saw Sky Captain and thw World of Tomorrow. It was everything I hoped it would be. It captured the look and feel of the serial sci-fi films of the 30's and 40's, and added to them modern fi;m sophistication. The entire cast gave entertaining performances, lending sympathy and caring for the characters they portrayed. It had action, but was light-hearted. Good stuff. And then He rested, and it was the First Day. And then it was Saturday. We had a Royal Court meeting for the Carolina Renaissance Festival (our last Royal Court meeting before the season starts next weekend. YAY!) which is always fun. Because we're all wacky silly people and love to hang out with each other. So the meeting is done and since we're all at Phil's Bunker, well, we slid right on into party/cookout mode! Phil's parties are something of the legnedary ilk. There were tasty steaks and sides for all, plus ridiculous amounts of tasty alcohol. While getting drunk wasn't the goal, (we drink because the drinks are tasty), some of us were inebriated. (aside) Some months back, I was cooking breakfast for dinner and thought to myself, why not cook the bacon in Guiness? And so I did, and it was good. And I cooked the eggs in the Guiness bacon grease and it was good. So. We're making pork 'n' beans, and some of us like to cook up actual bacon to put in the beans. So we cook the bacon in Guiness. Then, while the beans are slow simmering, we put in 2-3 shots of Jameson(damn fine Irish whiskey). Thus, a song was born. Theeeerrrree waaaaaaaaasssss... Beer in the bacon and whiskey in the beans Rum on the pancakes and port in the cream Mead in the muffins, wine and cheese And the Queen cried for more beans please! (/aside) Somewhere betweent he alcohol and the double-apple tobacco in the hooka, we had the brilliantest of ideas. Make a trebuchet. So we planned to do that the next day. Towards the end of the evening, somehow we managed to start watching Univision and Sabado Gigante (Big Saturday) with hoochie makeovers, dancing twats, and lots and lots of really strange things in spanish that we couldn't understand, but were fun to watch. And the commercials for a night-time soap called Rubi. This is important remember it later. And there was hooka and hot tub. And it was good. And it was the evening of the second day, and He rested. Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! Breakfast consisted of thick sliced Guiness bacon, Guiness bacon eggs with shredded extra sharp vermont cheddar, grands and crescent rolls, and much tastiness. And so we built a trebuchet. In the space of an afternoon. And we named her Rubi, after our favorite commercial from the night before. And it was good. And we celebrated with all you can eat chinese after a few test fires.

Ok, I'm bored today, so I thought I'd hang out with my computer. Even better, talk to myself here. ( It's OK you can listen) To set the scene, I'm a work at home mom, baby is nearly 1 year old. "We" are watching TV, rather he is watching, and my brain is slowly numbing. It's Miffy, Maisy, The Wiggles, Roli Polie Olie, and then Blues Clues. My thoughts wander. I think how much better Blue's Clues was with Steve. That RPOlie is so much more interesting than other cartoons because even the furniture are characters. I get a Wiggles song stuck in my head. NOOOooooo! I hear Dorothy the Dinosaur is mowing the lawn! :{ My mind is slipping into a mire of Elvis impersonating Australians, dancing pirates, and cartoon furniture and appliances with eyeballs. So before I lost what was left of "me",I took a part time job so I could talk to grown-ups, or anyone over the age of say 10? I was never so happy to go get a job, and to be at work. Guess I just had to say so. (I would have been committed already had it not been for the OB, FFF.net. and our BDH's. )

Okay, well it's been several weeks now, and people have purchased some of my T-shirts and posters from Zazzle, and this makes me happy. That being said, however, I sit here and wonder if no news is good news. What I mean, exactly, is everyone happy with their purchases and therefore no complaints or is everyone unhappy and afraid to speak up? If anyone out there on Earth-that-was, has purchased one of my products, please send me an email ( TenthCrewMember@fuse.net ), or use this site's Message Me feature, and let me know what you think of your purchase because I'd really like to know. I am not making things for profit (though I won't deny I get a small percentage for contributing the designs) but for the enjoyment of knowing I am providing something to Firefly fans that, well, frankly just does not exist outside of fan-created enterprises (like GwynethH's Serenity patches, of which I recently purchased two! Thanks, Gwyneth, shiny job!) I would like to believe everyone is happy, but if not, tell me. Tell me what you'd like to see me do differently (but know that I will not use actual images from the show, mostly to avoid legal issues; besides, time spent gaining permission would be time not spent on creating new stuff!). I want to make the best stuff I can, so that people can be proud to show off, and let the world know that Firefly (and soon Serenity!) is the best Sci-Fi in the 'verse! Take care and keep flyin'!

I've decided that i spend entirely too much time on the internet, and that i'm gonna do something about it. I was thinking about starting a support group, but the only other people i know who are as addicted as me are on the internet, and if we were to have meetings, it would be ON THE INTERNET. kinda a catch 22, dontcha think? So, just to prove to myself that i can, I'm swearing off the internet for a week. A whole week of no e-mail, no IMing, and no FFF.net. Wish me luck!

I want to vote in the upcoming US presidential election, but I have a problem with an ex-girlfriend stalker issue and I want to hide my address. I'm hesitant to re-register because I don't want my new address to be public knowledge. My phone number is unlisted. My question is this: How private is my voting registration record? Is it public knowledge? How can personal information on a voter be obtained by a third party? I'd like some answers, because I have about a week or two left to re-register, then it's too late to vote. Oh, and I live in Utah. Beautiful mountians, crazy Mormons, clean streets. Utah women are extremely pretty and they all wear giant belt buckles that say "Do Not Touch." I'm not kidding.

I can hardly wait to get off work today. Which is not that different from any other work day, but this one is extra special. The last book in Stephen King's epic Dark Tower saga, The Dark Tower, comes out today. I will be flying over to costco as soon as I get off work. Anybody else on this board as excited about this as myself?
Wednesday, 22 September 2004 00:58:07
Ok. Maybe not just yet, but soon. Very soon. Which has me wondering..how will the rest of the 'verse react to our lil movie? Soon it won't be just 'ours' anymore. And I say 'ours' for obvious reasons...we fell in love w/ the BDH's from the 1st time we saw them. We suffered at the loss of Firefly and the big "C" word by the suits at They-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, then rejoyced mightily when the DVD's came out. Then we got the best news...unexpected, unbelivable.... the BDM was going to be made! Interest spiked again, DVD sales shot up, word spread that Serenity was on her way! This must be a little like what a parent feels when their beloved child goes out in the world. On the one hand, you WANT everyone to see, meet and love that what you've come to care about so much. But on the other hand, once it takes off, (and it will ), it'll never be like it is now. Just for us. Our PRECIOUS! We have 7 months and 1 day till the premier of Serenity. Between now and then, spoilers will leak out, trailers will be viewed, and a ground swell of opinion will herald its arrival. How much will be known about the movie, and what those charming, smart, and good looking critics  will say, only time can tell. Will our BDM be a sleeper ? or will it be over hyped ? Will it take a hit for coming out prior to SW - Revenge of the Jedi? Or will that only cause more interest ? Questions and more questions. I don't know how it'll all play out, but I do know a few things. I know I'll enjoy these few months. And I know I'll continue to spread the good word to those that need it.(everyone)If I think of anything else......

my profiles said I was still 22 that changed in January! so somehow smurging Firefly, Black Books, Stargate Atlantis magazine articles and FPC and FA2 exams with impending divorce (not mine) serious pet parasite issues and new potential roomies oh its a crazy world but my ID hasn't had this much fun since - well this morning, hero of canton, grinning like an idiot on the bus and singing the theme to my cat (she normally hates my singing) she blinked acceptably - getting excited cos its halloween soon! minus point losing dad tho. must make the most of this now, stupid exams that I'm going to fail anyway are getting in the way! oh bleh.

Ok, so I just watched Ariel last night and my overwhelming dislike for Jayne has returned. I can't help it but the 'hero of canton' can be a right git at times. I mean sure he's funny but some part of me just wishes that Mal had had Jayne sucked off the ship and into space. Anywho, I'm off to watch more firefly.

As most who are interested will have heard, there are two games based around FFVII coming out, as well as the movie. The movie, Advent Children, set two years after the end of the game, has been previewed at Venice, and should (hopefully) be out by this time next year. The first game, Before Crisis is a prequel starring the Turks. So far, it has only been announced for mobile phones. The second game, Dirge of Cerberus has you playing as Vincent. It is supposedly set after Advent Children. Now; is this a good thing? Ever since it's release, FFVII has been considered one of the best of the Final Fantasy series. In fact, most people were expecting bits out of FFVII in the original FF movie, The Spirits Within. The problem with any sequel or prequel is will it detract from the original? If so, then obviously it's best not to release it. To be honest, I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst... Keep on flyin'. -Mantichorus.

Hail the Autmnal Equinox! Today is my 5th wedding anniversary! Yippee! Can I brag about my husband? Talk about the nicest most level headed guy. He is definitely keeper quality, and he's mine. I count myself lucky and hope that any soon to be married Browncoats are as happy as I am! If I could give any advice, I guess I'd say this. - Don't sweat the small stuff. If your sweetie hogs the remote or won't get off the computer, so what. Everybody has annoying habits, it's a fact. If you've married someone, don't think that you can change those little nuances, because thats what makes them the wonderful person you chose to be with. - Little tiffs are a waste of energy. If something is upsetting step back for a few minutes and think about what you want to say. Never lace it with not nice names and past "you did this's ". Try not to raise your voice. ( Verbal abuse is just as bad as physical, and shouldn't be part of anyone's life.) - There are just somethings that really don't warrant a comment; roll your eyes if it will make you feel better. If your sweetie has weird or "difficult" relatives, don't make comments about them. See previous comment. Curious? The weirdness is all on my side. Hubby is so kind as to smile and say nothing. - Love everyday you have with this person, stuff happens that you can never predict. I almost bit it once, and it really changed my perspective. ( Shoot, just knowing my hubby changed it as well.) You don't have to have a big " oh, how I love my sweetie" moment everyday... well you can if you want. Just give it a second when you wake up and think... here I am and things are good with this person... YEA! - This part may be more for the guys. Children. I know some fellas may hesitate and say "NOOoooo!" and avoid the topic all together. Just think, more Browncoats. No really, babies/kids aside from being cute, are really pretty cool, fun, and more entertaining than primetime TV. So your life will revolve around them for at least 18 more years( more like 30). It will be worth it. Just wait til they share a soggy Cheeri-O out of their drooly mouth with you. :D Yummy! Tonight we will partake of tasty enchiladas and sopapillas at El Chico. :D It's the little things that are fun, y'know.

I am really worried about twinkies. I guess you've heard about their financial troubles? This stupid carb craze may just wipe Twinkies from our supermarket shelves. Stupid carbs. I don't know about you, but I'm going to do my part to make sure my children's children's children will be able to eat fresh--though old is good too--twinkies everyday with their lunch. So get out there and buy some twinkies! We've been discussing the possibility of a live action robotech movie. Wouldn't that be cool! It would need to be set during the Macross era so that we could see Rick, Lisa, and Minmei do their thing. Of course the biggest stars we could find would have to camp it up. Who should we cast?

Why is it so hard for an honest merc to find decent work these days? I'm good at a lot of stuff, and what I don't know I learn fast. And yet, no one wants to hire a smart guy with the experience and drive needed to get the job done. I guess they're afraid they'd have to pay me more than crappo if they hired me. Anyone out there got any job leads in the Charlotte or G'boro/Winston-Salem areas of North Carolina? And I looked into the private military contractor stuff, which would be cool, but they all require previous military experience. What the heck. I guess there's no such thing as an entry-level merc anymore.

Okay, tomorrow is the big day. The day I watch my bride-to-be walk down the aisle and become my wife. While I don't have cold feet, the nervousness is growing. Or the anxiousness. I'm not quite sure, but I suspect that it might be a mixture of both. I really am looking forward to tomorrow, but in the same aspect, I've been waiting for so long that I can't seem to grasp the fact that the day is finally upon me! I wanted to say thank you to all the Browncoats who have supported me and given me enough marriage advice that I could put out a self-help book called: "Marriage, Browncoat Style." I'm tellin' you, it would be a bestseller! Seriously, all of you guys and gals have been a real help, and I appreciate all of you. I'll blog when I'm back from the honeymoon!! _____________________________ Also, for those of you who are reading my "Destiny" series, if I get motivated, I might post another chapter tomorrow before the wedding, but if not...well, let's just say that over the course of next week, it's going to get preempted for "sporting events"! Again, THANK YOU, BROWNCOATS!!!

And just a few days ago, I was ranting to a friend of mine how no good movies have opened since July. What a sad state we're in. With few exceptions, "Shaun of the Dead" is everything we wanted "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" to be, but wasn't. "Shaun of the Dead" had a recognizable plot, characters we cared about, good-looking cinematography, acting, zombies, a soundtrack, and oh yeah, humor. One of the quotes on FFN.net (or was it on a DVD commentary track?) is about how Joss isn't interested in Indiana Jones being a super-human super-hero (I'm paraphrasing), but about the real people and just how much crap they'll take... and how they react when they've been pushed too far. Yeah, DVD commentary track... it was the scene where we first meet Badger, he's essentially stepping on Mal for statement after statement, until Badger takes a verbal swing at his crew. Then it's like, whoa there, cowboy, bring it on back to the stable. And so, we come back to the first thumbs up I can give in weeks, "Shaun of the Dead." Shaun is a WAAAY bigger loser than anyone we meet in "Firefly," but reacts admirably to what can only be described as a Time of Crisis. I couldn't stop thinking about Joss's comment, which I must now go back and listen to. If you're a fan of zombie movies, or if you just hate them, then we have a winner. If you just think violence is not your cup of tea on any day of the week, then a) What are you doing watching Firefly, and b) 'Wimbledon' didn't suck. Oh, and it's very British. That helps.

So anyway, Happy Birthday Static! (if it is your birthday), and many more and happines and stuff and i really didn't get you anything. I just managed to pick up a copy of the Dragon naturally speaking. It's a little hard to get used to, but after a little training, it can be a lot of fun. I wish I had the professional version, because then I could control my computer like on Star Trek. Now, if they can invent the holodeck, I'll be all set !! :).

Well, this weekend has been one I am not likely to forget. Starting with my birthday on the 24th, Dave (Gojiro) posts a great image wishing me a happy birthday, and well, that was plain cool in it's own right, but then others posted replies also wishing me a happy b-day! Now that made it so much shinier. Best fans in the 'verse, I say! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Simon's not the only one with a new family to embarass him! Next came the best birthday present ever, the Shindig! On the 25th the rewards of effort were realized! We had, counting the kids, 20 wonderful fans and family at Woodland Mound Park here in Cincinnati. Some drove up to 2 hours from Lexington,KY and Greenville,OH and Columbus,OH to join us, and that there is devotion. What a huge success this was! I finally got to meet Susie (Flyhead) and got a great pic of her Big Damn Banner (

Computer programming has to be the most boring job in the verse. I spend a good 6-7 hours going through other peoples fucked up code and making logical (at least to me) fixes so that everything works. Simple right?!? :banghead: Then why can't people do it right the FIRST TIME???? Sorry had to get that off my chest. . .

Gawd, some days I just can't TAKE IT! I know that not everyone is a champion speller, but can some of the people on various boards please at least TRY??? I just came from another board and someone had actually spelled spaghetti "spegetti"!!! The other day I saw someone spell peek as peak, and there are dozens, nay, hundreds of examples like this all over the web. I hope this doesn't seem small and petty to you guys, because I just had to vent. I really can't stand it. It's a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I just think there's absolutely no excuse. As far as I know, every computer on the face of the Earth That Is has spellcheck!! Typos are one thing, all of us have typed too fast, or hit the wrong key, but most of these aren't typos. PLEASE people! Take pride in your language skills! Read! Improve yourselves! It can only amount to every kind of good. *Whew* Thanks, Browncoats, for letting me get this off my chest.

Note: This is full of male adolecent agnst. Yes, I am still of the age where I think I am the center of the universe, so proceed with caution. Talking to girls is TOUGH!!! It is aguably one of the toughest things an adolesent male has to do. Sometimes, you spend half your day trying to get the balls to talk to a girl that you like and when you finally do, you sound like a total idiot (you could have sworn that the speech you made up sounded cooler and more manly in your head!) The girl walks away shaking her head :disappointed:, and you are like :bash:. Now, I'm not saying that talking to all girls is tough; on the contrary, my best friends are girls. But they aren't really girls. They're like one one the guys. The girls that I'm talking about are those pretty girls that you've had a crush on for several years but never have the guts to talk to (even though you've had a million and one chances to do so). Sometimes talking to your friends that are girls is as hard as talking to those pretty girls. In fact, I'll say it can be harder. Take for instance an even that happened a few weeks ago at lunch. I was telling one of my friends about my predicament and she said "Well, you are talking to me, so you must be able to talk to girls" Before I had time to think out my words, I blurted out "I have trouble talking to pretty girls" My friend took great offense. She thought that I didn't think she was pretty. I tried to explain that I DID think she was pretty (and the truth is, I do. In fact I think she's beautiful) but it was no use, she walked off and didn't speak to me for the rest of the day. Again I was like :bash: :bash: :bash: (and I finally knew what Simon felt like in nearly every episode where he tried to talk to Kaylee and wound up sounding like a total idiot. It's not that he's terrible at talking to girls, it's that his mouth movies faster than his mind). You really don't want to hurt your friends that are girls' fellings, so when I made a comment like that to her, I felt worse than after one of my speeches (which I'm telling you sounded so good in my head) Why the hell did I act such a :censored:? I've been asking myself this for the past week. My mother says its hormones and my little brother says its because I'm not as suave as him, which I tend to agree with. (As for my father, I get the impression that he thinks I'm gay, so he dosen't get involved in my sorrid affairs. He just cares that I'm happy). I guess when we get to the core of the matter, girls are just strange. They are like another species that adolecent males can't seem to understand. It's not that we aren't able to communicate with them, THEY are unable to communicate with us (because us adolecent males just love to make excuss for reasons why we can't do things). So it's not the fault of the adolecent male, it's the fault of the girl. Now I'll need to figure out how to express that to them (which means talking to them somehow).........DAMN! :banghead:

King Greymong is the king of the trolls in a wonderful comic.(Elfquest) I just read a post from a Troll and man I understand why they are called trolls! Odbit sings *King Greymong had a favorite me! shows his exlenct taste you'll agree. He gave me nice things golden broches and rings. Oh! how I wish I hadn't had to flee. Picknose came and carried me away brave enough to face the light of day. He pledged me a horad, I'd be lady he'd be lord. Picky never found his treasure it's true so what's an improverished girl to do? I trade Picky in on someone new." (ahh the ways trolls think)

Ok I had a blast at DragonCon this year. I am hoping that Nathan, Jewel and Adam will return, but this time bring more cast members with you guys! Since watching Firefly (I saw the original pilot because I stayed home instead of going to my cousin's football game LOL) I've been inspired to write more sci-fi as I have done in the past. I really like the way it's done and especially the use of the Chinese. It's an ingenious piece and I'm angry that SCIFI channel will pick up crap like Kevin Sorbo(sp?) and Andromeda (no offense to it's fans, but I cjust can't get into it), but not a masterpiece like Firefly. DAMN THEM TO HELL!! *giggle*.

Wow. I say to myself as another georgous woman goes walking by. This is why I like large cities. Don't get me wrong there are some hot women in Mobile, but WOW the percentage is amazing here. Got hired to shoot footage of the Dead Sea Scrolls. This event sent my mind spiraling into an oblivion of stories. What if someone stole them? What a caper that would be. What if there are secrets to them that only "gifted" people see? Like a code embeded into them that's only revealed when the genetic tumblers fall into place. How could I set a romantic comedy around the 2200 year old documents? And just who is this beautiful being sitting next to me? Sorry got distracted. I've spent the last 3 days doing nothing but scouting wreckage for this GM advertisment. Corporate monkeys wish to take advantage of those who were hit by the storm. Granted they are going to pay local owners up to $2500, it just doesn't seem right. In the end I took the job, so I should just change my name to Judas. I should sleep. I hate plane rides and now I've got a long one coming up as we prepare to leave for Israel and Egypt for 12 days of filming. I should order a serenity patch...take the show to the middle east. im so judas has

Oh boy. What am I getting into? :) I made a boardgame called Firefly: Big Damn Heroes. Am I crazy? Probably. But I am okay with that. I just hope it is not a big let down and that it meets Fan approval. It is quite a dynamic game and is designed to evolve with each new supplement and never be the same game twice. The one thing I love about doing this is that I am giving it away...literally. With help from Gojiro (Dave, you made another blog!) I am able to make it available for download, and nobody has to feel obligated. They can just try it, and if they like it, they keep it. If not, they can chuck it into the Black. However, I hope in either case I get feedback because I really want this to be something Firefly Fans everywhere not only enjoy, but become an active part in the continuing design of the game. Well, here's to throwing my hat into yet another creative venture...

Did anyone else watch Kevin Hill last night, on I think it was upn, but don't quote me. Did anyone else jump up and go HEY THATS SAFFRON! I don't even know the actress' real name. and of course my sister comes back with "Saffy? Where?" at which point I had to point out that I was talking firefly not abfab. sigh, I can only get her hooked on one show at a time, luckily I think I've got her for firefly now. and if she wasn't before our treck to atlanta she is now. But I digress. Did anyone else notice that she is essentially playing the same role. I don't mean she's infiltrating the law firm by marrying kevin... but that the character tricks her opposistion by being all sweet and nice and then sticks it to em. Was that not Saffron's racket? Oh well, maybe it was just me. I think I might actually watch this show regularly. If only to see the gay nanny slap around Tye Diggs. Kevin's homophobia is utterly hilarious. Another show I might actually watch is Veronica Mars. I don't usually do teeny-bopper type shows (As I puke all over 'Dawson's Creek') but this one is different. I like the main character. I kinda like the premise. The whole thing is shot like it should be sci-fi. Heck add some sci-fi-ish elements and we'd all be talking Cyber punk. gotta go now, breda

First off, it's nice to see you back, Has. Been awhile! Good to see that Ivan didn't getcha. Have fun in Israel. Just remember this bit of wisdom when visiting that part of the world... if in doubt...DUCK! You know, I've really tried to get a couple of entries in this week, but for some reason, I could never get one done. I have three half attempts that I didn't finish and one that would have been posted except that my computer crashed on me before I could hit "Update". (Wouldn't you know that that was the one that I didn't write in Word and cut and paste into the Blog...) It makes you believe that there is a higher power and he's a lot like Mel Brooks. :banghead: It’s D-day. All week my contact from Japan has been here along with the guy who runs the rep company which will be taking over my job. At first I was a little anxious to get things started, but as things got busy, I got focused. It helps that this week has been one mad rush to get things done that they hadn't thought about before. "Who does the web hosting? How about e-mail? What should we do about voicemail?" One of the first things that the rep guy said to me was, “Why did you guys wait so long to do this?” I nearly laughed in his face. When he asked me if I could stay another week, I wasn't completely successful stifling the grin. But today they both went to Couthern California to visit another of our customers and won't be back until about four pm. No one is looking over my shoulder and I'm able to do one thing at a time. One thing at a time until 5:01, then walk away calmly and begin a new life. Tuesday night, the head of the rep company, one of his engineers and my contact took me out for a “celebratory” dinner. Whether the reps were there to celebrate my leaving or their getting control of the North American territory was anybody’s guess. I’m going to miss my Japan contact. He’s a genuinely good guy. Hard worker, mild manner and always friendly. As for the guys who are replacing me… :finger: Let's just say that they're not my favorite people. The boss is the kind of a slimeball. Says one thing and then contradicts himself later. Always pushes for someone else to pay the bill unless there is someone there he wants to impress, then he becomes “Mr. Generosity”. He pats you on the back in public and trashes you as soon as you leave the room. Still, who was I to complain? He’s a good businessman and picked up half the tab. (But not without bitching about it.) I’m just glad I won’t have to deal with those guys anymore. Sushi and saki for three-and-a-half hours is only fun if you enjoy the company. The funny thing is that I left the restaurant feeling full and a little light-headed from the alcohol. Almost three hundred bucks for four of us on sushi and booze, but about two hours after I got home I was hungry again! I couldn't believe it! Here it is, around midnight and I'm making a frozen pizza! For the first time in a long time, I regretted not having a beer to chase it with. Somewhere along my life, I pretty much stopped drinking at home altogether. My liquor cabinet consists of a bottle of scotch, a bottle of sake and bottle of wine. Since neither scotch nor saki goes with pizza, and I hate opening a bottle of wine for one glass, I settled for a diet coke. (Wanna hear something weird? I drink diet sodas because I like the taste.) Then last night I go out for dinner with friends. Muuuuuch more enjoyable. A different sushi restaurant (run by friends of friends) and 10 of us sitting around talking and laughing. Unlike the previous dinner, time flew by and it was nearly closing before we knew it. They all signed my going away card in front of me. (Jokingly telling me where NOT to look when someone else got the card. "Hey, look! Over there! No, Keep looking!") I even got a couple of going away presents from one friend. (Thanks, Yv!) I got some poseable Daredevil action figures to play with (or use for blocking out a scene) and a tiny, personal “zen” rock garden to keep my stress level down. (THAT will get some heavy use over
