I had a dream that Nathan Fillion wanted to use the weight bench and treadmill in my basement, because it was cheaper than a gym membership. He said he wanted to get bulked up like Hugh Jackman did for X-Men Origins. I of course said that he could use the equipment in my basement anytime he wanted. Sometimes I wish my dreams were real.

It's like a confection, but less 'con' and more 'purrrr.' So I don't know if anyone on here reads Peptuck over at fanfiction.net, but I really have to recommend his latest chapter. It's a one-shot, set within the episodic nature of his other chapters, so no worries about reading everything before to make sense of this one... Although I recommend at least trying those, as well. Lots of action and big damn hero moments, if you're into that.

Browncoats, we have finally arrived. This year, the Bedlam Bards are not merely scum-of-the-earth-treat-you-like-fehu-filker guests; we're real live listed-in-the-program-book-with-concerts-on-the-concourse Guests this year. This is a sign of how strong the Browncoats have become! I'll post more info on our schedule later, but we look forward to seeing y'all there. Xie-xie, Cedric

Just read the 'Inara's secret' thread. 'Kay. Now go read the chapter of Tic Tac Tao I posted. And then think about it. I had that storyline plotted out at the time, pr-Crash. I've also always supported the Book as ex-cop theory. And now it's also been confirmed. Add to that, a few of the ideas in 'Zen' regarding River's place in the 'Verse, and I think all the headaches and nosebleeds are now explained. No wonder there's no bloody room in my mind for my original stuff. Except that scary model of the solar system made out of dead people. Nobody else wanted that.

I need a beta. copy that. But how does one get a compatible beta for the story offered? First off, this story is not for the faint of heart. Or the under caffeinated. Or those who prefer linear continuity. Or... This is because it's entirely from the POV of River Tam. Portions of her diary at the Academy, specifically. But before I post it, I need some helpful editing--really a first time author here, and I'd like to iron out some of the usual things--characterization, readability, continuity. Or if it's even working. So, this here's a cattle call (yuk yuk) for somebody who's got a spell in space(or wants to read moonbrain musings) and give critical feedback.

Okay, so I went yesterday (Saturday). Getting up at 4.00 am to get to Milton Keynes by 9.00 am was fine, but the weather wasn't. It was so COLD, and WET, and ... honestly, the best part was getting another autograph off Nathan and then doing the photoshoot. But I am ahead of myself. For those of you that didn't make it, the venue was at the MK Dons hockey stadium, which is open to the elements. And I mean elements. It rained most of the day, and since the only part actually out of the cold was the dealer's area, you can imagine how packed that was. But after I'd make a circuit of the concourse a couple of times, I admit I was bored. Unlike other cons I've been to, the signers (is there a word?) were back in little alcoves, which meant there was little oppportunity to take pictures, at least without getting somebody else's head in the way, so unless you wanted to fork out an average of £20 per autograph, photos were not really an option. Anyway, Nathan was getting through his at a rate of knots, and even though I was no. 237 I was at his table by about 11.20 am. As I was queueing he stood up, stretched, shaking out his hands. It was so cold he had a blanket over his knees! I did take a couple of shots of him from the queue, but they're a bit shaky because I didn't want to use the flash, but I'll upload them into the BSR. Anyway, we shook hands, he asked my name and said it was nice to meet me, and signed the photo (it's the publicity shot from Castle of him standing against a burnt orange background in brown leather jacket, blue shirt and jeans). I said something about how I'd managed to see a couple of episodes of Castle and how I was glad that it had been picked up for a second season, and he said it was nice for actors to have a paying gig. I thanked him for the photo, and that was it. Done. Have to walk away. The photoshoot wasn't until 1.00 pm, so I sat around, writing, drinking coffee to try and warm up, and eventually got into the queue. I have to admit, I don't know how he does it. It's a production line - stand still, smile, snap, check, next. Literally as fast as you've read it. There were four hundred tickets for his photos, and I bet every one got used, so four hundred people in an hour. That is FAST. By then it was around 1.55 pm, so I thought hard about whether to stay for the photo to come back, but that would take at least a couple of hours, and there wasn't anything else for me to do. I couldn't watch him signing autographs (okay, this isn't actually as crazy lady stalker mode as it sounds) because I couldn't see him properly, and two hours of glimpses? No. If the weather had been decent I would probably have sat in the stands and just written, but as it was I decided to get the bus back to the train station and come home. And there it ended. I'm waiting for the photo to arrive, and if it's any good I might scan it and post it here, but if it's the usual of me, I may have to edit that out. I hate seeing myself in pictures! Nathan tweeted on his Twitter page that MK was freezing, and asking where he could get a stiff drink. I hope someone responded, but he was right. As much as I enjoyed myself, and I'm very glad I went, the thing that will stick in my mind the most is seeing him with a blanket over his legs and being cold ...

Hi everyone. I'm the writer of a fanfic called "River's Run" whch left off more than a month ago with the crew ready to fight off an Alliance boarding party. I haven't gotten back to it since because I've been so overwhelmed with work at the small college where I teach plus I'm also taking care of writing jobs that actually pay me money. Soon, I hope I have more time to continue the next part. It is about half done, so should be up soon. Sorry to those loyal people who have continued to read my stuff. Take care and have a wonderful summer.

Cat is finished for a time, though I know not many liked how it ended...the sequel will explain her reasons as it is posted sometime in the coming months. Do look out for a few single shots from the world, one that are funny and ones that are not so. As for Angelle, with Cat on the back burner, I will be able to fill her story out some more and get more chapters posted. There is still quite a lot of adventure left as they make their way back to the Bayou, face an Alliance threat, and just maybe....have a wedding in the future...not saying whose just yet.....all the while still heading for Patience.....tune in and keep riding....lots of love y'all Angellemarcs

Thanks for the Bday wishes. So where is a good place to get english to chinese translations. The ones i use are from the Serenity RPG apendix and the random tidbits of mandrin i learned taking Kung Fu classes and the rosetta stone mandrin classes. Is there a website i can go to that will give a phoenetic translation instead of characters?

Hi! Thank you to everyone who has been posting in the BSR. However over the past few weeks, there have been a lot of people posting multiple items per day. I'm sure most of you who have been doing this are relatively new to the community, so I'll explain. Some time ago (maybe a year?) there were a lot of multiple postings of things in the BSR per day by one or two people, and it pushed the single posts of others off of the homepage so they received less hits than they normally would. It upset those people, so we made a rule (albeit unofficial) that no one should post more than two items per day. I'm not going to point fingers at anyone, and I don't mean to sound rude or upsetting. I'm just asking for a little common courtesy in this community. Thank you, PhyreLight

When my firend first told me about Firefly, I told him that I would never watch it. Little did I know that 3 weeks later I would be under my covers at 11 0'Clock at night with my ipod gripped in my hand as I watched the original pilot "Serenity". I am now an official Browncoat and I am proud. I LOVE FIREFLY I can't put my ipod down and I have asked for the DVD set for my birthday. Firefly is awesome!

...when it can pour? Well, not really, but why are there so many stories that involve River and Jayne getting together?! I'm trying to understand people's fascination with putting those two as a couple. Is it a case of "If you ain't with the one you love, love the one you're with" or is there some kind of deep psychological meaning behind putting a psychic teenager with a late-thirties/early-forties mercenary? I can kinda see that it's sorta funny to put somone who can hear all of a person's thoughts with someone whose thoughts no one would want to hear. But seriously....WHY?!

I don't know, I was bored and felt the need to write! Anyway, I just started going, and it's really short, cause I got writer's block like crazy, but I don't know if I'll take it anywhere. I want opinions, I guess. (Though I doubt anyone will see this.) Eh, oh well. Anywho, here it is. No title, no plot, no nothing. Takes place after BDM, Wash and Shep are still dead. “Ain’t no ruttin’ way I’m steppin’ on that rock.” Jayne glared at Mal. Mal looked at him, angry. “I don’t care what you say. We gotta. We do the job, an’ this is part of it.” “My muscular buttocks we gotta. I don’t give a 咒 what you say. I mean it, Mal. I ain’t goin’. Take Zoe.” Jayne was now standing, face to face with Mal. “You givin’ me orders on my boat?” “If you wanna see it in that light, yeah.” The two men looked at each other for a long time. Everyone else was silent, looking down. “Zoe, get ready to go.” Immediately, the first mate jumped up and left the room. Mal turned his attention back to Jayne. “You ever pull somethin’ like this again, I will shoot you.” With that, the captain turned and left to the cargo hold, silently fuming. Soon, the crew was down in the hold, doing their last minute preparations. Mal and Zoe each took a hold of a sack, full of the goods. “Alright. Jayne, open it.” He watched as Jayne pressed the button to open the air lock door. Once it was open, Ariel, in all her beautiful emptiness appeared. The once bustling planet was not so anymore due to the crew’s signal of truth from Miranda. Sure, the video was only put up on 30 worlds, and about 50 moons, but it spread. Like a plague, it infected every screen in the ‘verse. It spread by every means; by folk and by itself. The little crew of Serenity knew it would have an impact, but nothing like this. Immediately, the outer planets, and even groups of people in the Core, started rioting. They banded together. And the Alliance was completely thrown for a loop. They never expected it. Central planets became less active, way less. People only went out when they had to. Whole businesses closed altogether. Meanwhile, the one’s on the rim were busier then ever. Needless to say, it was starting to look a whole lot like another war was coming. Fast. And what has the crew who caused it all been doing? What they’ve always done: kept flying. The jobs now had a more ‘war-effort’ feel to them, but, they were still jobs. Though they could walk around on Ariel nearly as easy as they could on any outer-rim moon, they were still cautious. Mal and Zoe took in the view for a moment before continuing on. “I don’t like this, sir.” Zoe commented, observing the barren streets. “Jus’ keep walkin’. We’re nearly there.” And, sure enough, after a few more minutes, they reached their destination. Oh, and the little Chinese character emans 'damn'... I think.

Friends! Browncoats! Supporters of Whedon! Lend me your ears (and rip off the Bard ) so that I may tell you of something glorious! I wish to spread news of Toronto's Can't Stop the Serenity charity screening and auction so that any Browncoats visiting our fair city - or new recruits - may join us in celebrating the wonder that is "Serenity" and helping to raise a Firefly's worth (in cargo space, not material value) of coin for Equality Now! Below are the pertinent details as to our event: WHO: Toronto Browncoats (which is kind of a misnomer since there's a couple of us n'er-do-wells are from outside the city, but hey...it works!) WHAT: Can't Stop the Serenity 2009 charity screening of the Big Damn Movie & auction! WHERE: The Bloor Cinema, 506 Bloor Street West, Toronto ON (across the street from the Pauper's Pub) HOW MUCH: $12 for pre-ordered tickets (visit

Haha, wow, never expected so many people to comment... Thanks, guys. Ok... Valeriebean: Haha, that would be funny... I don't know, though. It just seems extreme for Mal to shoot someone on his own crew that quickly... I don't know. Especially if he knew he was on his way to make a drop for a job and may need back-up... NewOldBrownCoat: I never pictured it as bad as I made it sound... I don't know, I was really disappointed in my "skills" there... I did write a bit more, and their reason for being there is revealed in there. AnotherSky: Haha, did you read my mind? Cause in the next bit they go through an alley to get into the building they need too. Crazy. Zzetta13: Yes, it is due to the PAX that the people are staying indoors. Fear-wise, though. Not, you know, 'Ah! We're all infected!'-wise. The Miranda message did have a different affect then they expected, and it is larger then thought. Something like that is bound to make a big boom in the 'verse, right? Anyway, I did continue it, and here's the continuation: Part 2 of the no title, plotless, potenial fanfic: The duo slipped into the alley next to the white, clean building, making sure to not be seen by the few people on the street. Once behind it, they went through a doorway into the structure. Inside, they found a dark room with a lot of guys who had a lot of guns. All pointed at them. “Well… hello, boys.” Mal anxiously said as he set down the bag and put his hands over his head, Zoe doing the same. Suddenly, a voice came out from the dark. “Check them.” Two men came up and patted them down before taking the bags for inspection. “We’re jus’ here to make the drop. Doin’ good on our end of the deal.” Mal said in the direction of the voice. “Oh, I don’t doubt that, Mr. Reynolds. It’s just, I don’t know you. This is our first time dealing and I don’t know how trust-worthy you are, only what I’m told.” The owner of the voice stepped into the light, revealing a woman in her late twenties, dressed in what would be called a ‘woman’s suit’. She had blonde hair and glasses. “I’m good on my end, Ms. Yin, I can guarantee you that.” She just gave him a small smile. “It’s good, Ma’am.” One of the men who had checked the bags reported. Ms. Yin gestured and a third man placed a bag in her hand, Mal could only guess that it was the money they agreed on. She hesitated. “I’m assumin’ you’ll be good on yours, o’ course.” He gave her a poignant look. “You know, Mr. Reynolds, I’ve been thinking.” She handed the bag back to the man behind her. “Far as I conjure it, thinkin’ can be a dangerous past-time.” She gave him an offended, angry look. “But… in your case, I’m sure it’s completely safe. What ya been thinking of?” “That, maybe, this transaction is… hazardous to our cause and what we want. You see, you have delivered our guns and ammunition-” “Very dutifully at that.” “- but, in doing so, you have learned of what we want, and now, you know where we are.” “And it’s a lovely place, looks just like the rest of the planet, very difficult to find.” She turned and headed for the next room. “Not so difficult. You two,” She pointed at two of the gun-toters. “bring the bags. As for the rest of you, well, you know what to do.” Immediately, the Captain and his first-mate jumped into action, pulling out their guns, and lunging for the small couch next to them. As for the Gun-Toters? They were busy shooting at the small couch. Mal had a tiny problem on his hands. “Never. Again. Never will I ever deal with that Jien huo again!” He bounced up and squeezed off a few rounds, and two men hit the ground. The gunfight ensued and soon Mal was fed up. “Call the ship! Tell Jayne to get his ass out here!” “But, sir, Jayne-” “I don’t care! Tell him he won’t get paid if he don’t.” With that, he bounced up once again and fired. No one fell this time. Zoe, on the other-hand, shot one more time before calling and one man was going to need a preacher. “Serenity!” Soon,

First, thanks to all those Browncoats (and a few non-'coats!) who carried me when I hit rock bottom. Second, I have a new job at DHL and I am excited to have gotten on with such a solid company! Third, as suggested last December, I have dusted off the Tightpants...let the Captions fly! Lastly, I had to move...I live in small town America now...its...quaint. ;) Actually, I am liking it. Folks are very polite and generous here, kinda like Browncoats, so I feel very comfortable...despite the very low concentration of geeks, nerds and dorks I am used to being around. ;) Still flyin'! Thanks!

As most of us loving Browncoats know, our favorite Big Damn Heroes in the ‘verse had their pretty, little show cut before it could really go anywhere. But it did go somewhere. To our hearts. To our lives, and everywhere in-between. The episode that was in the early stages when our fearless leader, Mr. Whedon, found out that Serenity’s flight was over was during “The Message“. Hence the emotional ending. Even the composer for the show, Greg Edmonson said to Joss that the music at the end, titled “The Funeral”, was not made for the character, or the story, but the show itself. He said it was his way of mourning and saying good-bye to the project that had touched everyone who worked on it. From assistant to lead cast member. It’s the idea of mourning that planted this idea in my head. What is my idea? That “The Message” is a kind of metaphor for the show itself. Now, this is going to sound kind of dorky, and cheesy, but stick with me on it. In this metaphor, the show is represented by the character of Tracey and the crew, mainly Mal and Zoe, represents all the great folk who worked hard to make the show. In the episode, Mal and co., take their friend, Tracey, on a journey. Meanwhile, Joss and his co. make the show. And it’s all dandy. Great things happen, and hijinks ensue. But, then, Tracey begins to lose it when he believes that Mal is going to turn him over to the feds, and such begins his downfall. The show, is expensive to make, and not bringing in enough viewers, such begins it’s downfall. Well, one thing leads to another, and Tracey falls. Due to the money, and the low number of viewers, Firefly falls. But, the crew of Serenity has to keep going. They have to get Tracey’s body to home. And they do that. They land in St. Albans and when they open up the air-lock, there stands a group of people. In the metaphor, us, the fans. And, sadly, they deliver the rest of Tracey to the ones who love him. It’s all they had left to give. In the real world, the crew of the show gives us their piece of art, Firefly. They hand it over, and say, "Here. This is yours. We were just bringing it to you." And were forced to walk away from something they love an incredible amount. But, as we know through comics, books, and a movie, Serenity never stopped flying. The cast and crew were ready to fight for the show and any chance of a continuation. And we, the fans, also carried on. I’m probably just looking too deep into it, and being silly, but it was just an idea that occurred to me. Even if I’m wrong or not, I’m going to stick to this way of thinking about the episode, makes it run even more deep, and me love it more(if possible). I don’t really know if I voiced my ideas in the way I wanted, I guess I’ll figure that out through your guys’ comments. That’s if anyone finds this worthwhile. Let me know what you think. Opinions, everything. Oh, and thanks for reading it all… it was a lot.

Hoban "Wash" Washburne playing with toy dinosaurs: We will rule over all this land! And we will call it... this land! Wash as T-Rex: I think we should call it your grave! Wash as, uh, the other dinosaur: Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Wash: Well, I've been sane too long anyway. Wash: OH NO! We're all doomed!!! Who's flying this thing!?! Oh, that would be me. Kaylee: Look at the pretties! Wash: What am I looking at? The girls or the clothes? Jayne: The girls. Zoë: The clothes, please. Kaylee: Say, look at the fluffy one! Zoë: Too much foofarah. If I'm gonna wear a dress I want something with some slink. Wash: You want a slinky dress? I can buy you a slinky dress. Captain, can I have money for a slinky dress? Jayne: I'll chip in. Zoë: I can hurt you. Zoë: Next time we smuggle livestock let's make it something smaller. Wash: Yeah, we should start dealing in those black market beagles. Wash: Every planet has its own weird customs. About a year before we met I spent six months on a moon where the principle form of recreation was juggling geese. Hand to God. Baby geese—goslings. They were juggled. Wash about Jayne's statue: I think they captured him though. Captured his essence. Kaylee: Looks sorta angry, don't he? Wash: Kinda what I meant. Wash: We gotta go to the crappy town where I'm a hero. Wash: You know, it's all very sweet—stealing from the rich, selling to the poor... Wash: Police procedure has changed since I was little. Mal: He calls back, you keep him occupied. Wash: What do I do? Shadow puppets? Wash: You know River just gets more colorful by the moment. What'll she do next. Zoë: Either blow us all up or rub soup in our hair. It's a toss up. Wash: I hope she does the soup thing. It's always a hoot and we don't all die from it. Mal: I find River pleasant enough myself. But she does have an oddness to her. And I ain't just talkin' about her proficiency with firearms. Girl knows things. Things she shouldn't. Things she couldn't. Jayne: Are you, are you saying she's a witch? Wash: Yes Jayne. She's a witch. She has had congress with the Beast. Jayne: She's in congress? Wash: How did your brain even learn human speech? Zoë: Where's River at now? Mal: In her room, which I'm thinking of bolting the outside from now on. Wash: That's a little extreme, isn't it? Jayne: Anybody remembering her coming at me with a butcher's knife? Wash: Wacky fun. Jayne: You want to go, little man? Wash: Only if it's someplace with candlelight. Zoë: Sir, I know she's unpredictable but I don't think she'd harm anyone. Jayne: Butcher's knife! Zoë: Anyone we can't spare.:smokin::smile::wink::evil::naughty::tongue:

I took a big step today when posting my latest chapter of Quest. She went out in a blaze of glory though and had a proper goodbye. Also, I planted the seed in earlier "Allanverse" stories that there was another Firefly in storage for Mal to use whenever he needed it. Time to play that card.... Now that I'm rolling here. New Blood and Rebirth will take a bit of a backseat until Mal has his revenge. That's it for now. Brian

It's been a while since I've posted fic, but it's not because my interest has waned. My computer has been acting very oddly as of late and I pulled everything of value off of my computer and saved it to an external drive. My computer has been reformatted, but it's still acting up and I don't want to risk losing anything by moving stuff back over. When my computer issues are resolved, I'll be back to posting again. - GG

I can't believe we're actually doing the Christmas crossover episode! It's already fun, mixing crews and having everyone be in a happy mood for once. We've had enough tradgedy and whatnot (and laughs!) it's time for JUST laughs.. and maybe a little Awwww... Can you believe Zeke and Tawny? A wedding TOO!?!? It's... well, It'd prolly kill a good series like Firefly, lol, it's so corny, but it's fun for us, and that's what's most important. It's closing on September... five years? Really? I love my crew!

Different from my recent tridecennial, anyway, but not too different from something I've oft blogged about before. And I'm not discussing matters of the heart, even though I have reason to obsess mildly over one. 'Where They Don't Follow' has been bugging me for the last two or three chapters. I'm not really satisfied with where it is or where it's headed, to the point that I haven't yet posted the latest chapter on LiveJournal. I kicked around the idea of throwing a dustcover over it and moving ahead to 'Love & War', with whose content and direction I'm quite satisfied, but there's a subplot in both stories that'll suffer from being skipped. I had the same problem with 'Guns', and in fact, when it came up, I just tore down the three chapters I'd posted thus, and went a year without reposting until I'd thought of something better to write. As much as I would like to avoid doing the same thing with WTDF (or at least avoid going that long until the repost), I may have to hiatus it for a little while until I can superdetail the first few chapters. I don't think they have to be torn down, torn up, rewritten and reposted, they just have to be refined a little. So, if you're following it, I'm hopeful you won't give up on me - considering that I posted Chapter 5 over a week ago and no one has yet commented. After all, four out of five doctors agree that feedback is a quintessential supplement to the heart and soul.

I just heard that ITV is planning to make a film based on the science fiction TV show, UFO, produced in the United Kingdom in 1970. This is going to be interesting when you consider the difference in special effects over the last 40 years. They used large models that hung by strings when creating this show. CGI is going to make this look very different. About the only thing that will remain the same is the purple wigs worn by the women who were based on the Moon. We'll see if anyone can replace the gorgeous Ms Drake as Lt. Ellis from the original series.

my boyfriend broke up with me... i am devistated... its been almost a month... i cant take the pain... :hanged: its like my heart is in a million different pieces... and they are all his... i need him and want to be with him always. it just kinda came from now where... he said he cant fall in love... like he incapable because of all the heartbreak hes been through and that he is afraid that if we stayed together that i would fall deeper in love with him and if he still didnt feel anything for me that it would be worse... i just wish he had said something... and we are staying friends. he means the world to me and i never want to loose him... but things arent the same and its killing me inside... he doesnt hug right anymore... its always feels like it has no heart in it. idk, i guess i just dont want to face the facts and deal. help!
