Friends! Browncoats! Supporters of Whedon! Lend me your ears (and rip off the Bard
) so that I may tell you of something glorious! I wish to spread news of Toronto's Can't Stop the Serenity charity screening and auction so that any Browncoats visiting our fair city - or new recruits - may join us in celebrating the wonder that is "Serenity" and helping to raise a Firefly's worth (in cargo space, not material value) of coin for Equality Now! Below are the pertinent details as to our event:WHO: Toronto Browncoats (which is kind of a misnomer since there's a couple of us n'er-do-wells are from outside the city, but hey...it works!
)WHAT: Can't Stop the Serenity 2009 charity screening of the Big Damn Movie & auction!
WHERE: The Bloor Cinema, 506 Bloor Street West, Toronto ON (across the street from the Pauper's Pub)
HOW MUCH: $12 for pre-ordered tickets (visit http://torontoserenity.blogspot.com and look on the right-hand side of the page) or $15 if purchased at the screening! And don't forget, since we're selling things like screening t-shirts and other goodies, plus doing an auction, bring some extra coin and see if you can't pick up something nice, huh?
WHEN: Saturday, June 20th, 2009, with doors opening at 12:30 for a TENTATIVE 1:30 PM start and things wrapping up by 5:30 PM. A dinner shindig is being held across the street staring after 5:30 PM.
WHY: Well...isn't it obvious? Raise some $$$$ for Joss' favourite charity (Equality Now), watch the Big Damn Movie with friends and like-minded Browncoats, and throw a shindig to celebrate our continued support of Joss' magnum opus!
As an incentive, I don't think it big or wrong of me to mention that we got a gorram pile of shiny to auction off to help out with the fund raising! We have things like a couple of Sony BluRay players, a glass etching done by the group's own Alex Kung signed by Joss himself, signed copies of the comics and loads more! That and we're gonna be having what's basically a shindig afterward too
