Yay, I own a new computer! Though I'm actually not writing on the new one since it's not hooked up to the Internet yet, but still, yay! No bugs messing up the computer until I get hooked up to the Internet and start downloading things. It's got a shiny flat screen and I can watch DVDs on it. Sadly, no DVD-ROM drive so I can't access any of the DVD-ROM stuff on some of the Buffy DVDs. Whatever. It's a new computer and I'm happy. Also, the comp has Windows XP so you can have different accounts and for the first time I can actually customize my background and anything else I want. And we all know what that means: Firefly background! I know everyone has submitted a bunch in the Blue Sun Room and I'm excited to look through and see which ones I like. I also recall someone creating Firefly themed start-up screens for XP. I much rather see a picture of Serenity while I'm booting up then some boring black background. The possibilities are endless. But first, a connection to the Internet so I can actually look at these things on the right computer.

Well, I found out a week or so ago that the long-awaited film version of Firefly -- hence titled Serenity -- will be out September 30 in lieu of April 25 (I think that was the original release date). I am curious...why was the date changed??? Are they behind on post-production schedule??? Just curious... Todd a.k.a. Nightseeking Bear

So I had a rather creepifying end to 2004. The wife and I had our best friends over for New Year's and we come across the International Federation of Competitive Eating's 2001 Glutton Bowl on the local sports network. Okay, exactly when did America accept its slumminess and start to revel in it!? I mean, the audience was getting about as amped up for this as they would for a WWE match! There were kids in the audience cheering and chanting and shouting for their favorite person to eat the most sushi or eggs or rocky mountain oysters or cow brains!! Am I the only one who sees something terribly wrong with this?! When did eating become a competition? Yes, let's celebrate the fact that you can pack away 128oz. of mayo when there are so many people just here in the States who go without food daily! It's disgusting and I only hope that the people who put this on and compete in it go to that very special place in Hell with the empty fridge! -Taylor

Well, thats not ENTIRELY true. But for those with the backstory, its a shocker. (The backstory is all all my previous blogs, for those that care) So, remember foot rub guy? ("This blog has nothing to do with firefly.") AKA "Hey, you two girls should kiss" guy. ("Question that I have for men while not sleeping.") In a strange, twisty curvy turn of events filled with narrow alley ways and cul-de-sacs, he asked me out. And he's bringing me ice cream tomorow  (he works at Cold Stone SCORE!) I like ice cream. Men, remember this: The way to Ebo's heart is through ice cream. And cheese. Probably i should go to sleep. The room is doing that wierd spinny thing again... Wow, this is a boring blog huh. Congradulations to those who read all the way to this point. Here, you can have this shiny pencil of achievement.

I hate my teeth. My teeth were a bad idea, and a genetic embarrassment. Taking lots of antibiotics because of tonsilitis when I was three (just the right time to destroy the enamel on my adult teeth, thanks ever so much) hasn't helped. Further evidence that there is no God, because if He existed, surely he would've sorted out the whole tooth thing much better. Ow. Ow. Ow. Owie. Ow. Ouch. Ow.

Sorry about the terrible pun. I just think that everyone should at least attempt some sort of cleverness in every post, otherwise the entire strange irony of blogging is just lost. First blog post, mainly because my empty page made me look like a total loser. So in an attempt to avoid making a very true first impression, I'll pretend I have brilliant shiny things to say and post lots of writing that no one will read very closely because we're all more concerned with either a) what we're writing and how we look, or b) what the latest theory/news/post was concerning this great television show that we all love so much. Which makes sense, as that's why we're here after all. I mean, it's sure not to get dates. Enough with the rambling. I'll probably be posting primarily in Reviews and other Episode threads at first, until I have established myself more. It's where I feel more comfortable. If anyone's got anything they think I'd like taking a look at, send it my way and I'd love to read up on stuff. I tend to get a little bogged down in forums some, because I like to focus on the show itself, on the facts of it, and less on sidebar issues or theories. But I'll be around, I'm here because I love the show just as much as anyone else. There's no other show I could sit and watch over and over, no other series where every episode is worth (at the very least) five repeated showings, one right after another. And that's why I'm here.

Well with the crazy month that is december, there come far too many excuses as to why nothing has been added to the script... "Out busying presents for family" "Entertaining family and friends" "Trip to Brussels" "Moving into a new flat" "Tired" "Uninspired" "Lacking talent" (This last one wont stop me, given the current TV fair these days, lack of talent seems the last thing to worry about....) However it was really far too busy a time for myself and my two writing partners to add anything meaningful to the Script. So, for my part I shall return to writing later this month when things have calmed down. Meantime hope everyone has had a fair break over christmas. Cheers TheSomnambulist.

Wei, wei and a ni haody to all! As some of you might recall (and some of you have playtested!), I was working on a Firefly cardgame based off the daVinci Games/Mayfair Games cardgame called BANG! Well, I've finished it. It is called BWAH! and it is a ruttin' good time! So much so, I plan to do an expansion...someday. First I have to do some promised expansions for my BDHs game. I had planned to release this just before Serenity came out, but now it will be even sooner! Perhaps if people like it enough, I'll do an expansion based off the Big Damn Movie. Anyway, I've digressed. I am going to have a "prototype" deck printed, complete with a box. I am going to see how much it costs, and I am planning to sell them AT COST (including s&h), partially because it is complicated to print cards off the internet that have backs, partially because legally I can not profit off the use of copyrighted images, and partly because they will be mailed *uncut* (scissors or bowie knife not included), thus reducing the cost to the fans. I expect it will be under $10 alltogether. Game will include: 67 action cards 18 character cards 9 profession cards 5 quick reference cards ----------------------- 99 cards total! Rules Box (some assembly required) I suspect when I get ready to do this, I will start a thread for preorders and give an email address that people can do so with. So, again, the hard work is done and the game is coming soon. Very soon... CILANTR:smile:! TCM P.S. If you haven't seen Firefly: Big Damn Heroes, go to

I can't think of a title for this. Oh well. Seems I've learned some things today. 1) Always trust your instincts. No, not the ones you start to hear after you've jumped head first into the mess. The ones that were telling to not to jump in the first place. 2) There is NO girl IN THE ENTIRE GORRAM 'VERSE who is willing to be faithful AND be with me at the same time. 3) I'm an idiot. I'm an idiot because nice guys always finish last. And almost entirely because they are so hated and shat on by the entire gorram 'verse, I continue to be one. I refuse to change the way I love because I still firmly believe it is the right way. 4) I still hate being single. 5) Ow?

Lets see... all told, this would make... five. Five blogs/livejournals/opendiarys etcs. Do I really need five? Heh, probably not, though counting this one only two are active. I've been a Firefly fan since the series first aired on that channel that starts with F that shall never be named (bastards). And have continued to spread the love since I picked up my DVD set the day it came out. (Total browncoat converts currently totals 10.) That said I've never been a huge fansite reader, I keep tabs on things, and whatnot. I have yet to choose a favorite episode, but currently its a toss-up between Out of Gas (proof that Kaylee isn't as innocent as she seems) and Serenity 1 and 2. Other then that, I'll probably just post random things here as I continue to work on my fanfic/episode for Firefly. (I love writing, and people occasionally think I'm good at it, and since I'm a Firefly fan I figured it was high time I did some writing in the 'verse. The working title is "Salvage Rights" But if someone else is already using that, please yell at me so I can change it ;) And just so you know. Ya'll are welcome in my Sky. ;) Til later. ~FS "Engines make her hot" - Random quote of the day

Wow, I really like that show, but I can understand why it was cancelled. An incredibly expensive format, and a rather unorthodox plot line for the cartoon genre. But, I still wish they made more episodes. maybe we can get Matt and Trey to make a southpark-esque version with the same writers. Besides, is there anyone in the world that believes there shouldn't be more characters in TV shows with the name "snack".

Ok, I can't answer that, but I'll say that I am now 'connected' and it's a blast! Started out in HALO2, and have quickly displayed my novice status. Gets frustrating when you get killed by a group of 12 yr olds, but that's the nature of the game....die and learn. As for my Gametag, it took me a while to find one I felt comfortable with. I wanted it to be original, I wanted it to be fun, and I didn't want to be 'number'... such as StormTrooper145. Initially, I was going to go w/ a Tolkien themed name, but I didn't want to make it TOO obvious. So, after some some rejected names, I changed my tactic. I then decided something Firefly-ish would work. Something obscure enough to the general XBox public, but still cool sounding... I ran through a quick list... Captain Mal, Hands of blue, Firefly, Jayne Cobb, Serenity... even Black Market Beagle. All workable names, but still... And then it hit me... HEROofCANTON . Frankly, I was surprised that name wasn't already taken, so I grabbed it. I've only had XBox Live a couple of days, but it seems every time somone feels the need to say hi to 'Hero' prior to the game starting. No one's asked me about Firefly yet, but who knows?

I'm having a pretty good day despite the dismal weather. I watched the Alias season 4 premiere last night and it rocked. I bought Shaun of the Dead on dvd and I finished reading that trashy romantic thriller I was working on. I love not being in school. Alas, my bliss will not last much longer. School starts later this month. I'm a little nervous. Also, my birthday is coming up in March. I'm going to be 27. Urgh. The young'uns out there may be apalled at this while the others are wondering what I'm bitching about. I'm not really too worried. I still got carded at the liquor store yesterday. This new year seems to be promising. I continue to wait for September with bated breath. Oh, and in case you're wondering. The title of this blog represents the obsession I have with brownies and how I'm fighting an inner war between myself and my new diet. To JuJu: Ashampbanyanya

Thanks guys(and girls) for responding so that I would know I was still here. For a minute there I was scared that I had become invisible. Although now that I think about it that would be kind of cool. Think of all the fun I could have .... Hmm, ok who has the invisibility spray?

[edited] in just one week, I will be my work leaving FOR EVER. Plus moving out my flat. Plus leaving town. In fact, moving to an entirely different region. Why do things by halves? If you’d spent the last six months trapped in Filemaker Pro I bet you’d do the same. So I might not be around till I sort out an ‘alternative internet solution’. In the meantime, will you please keep my space for me?

I really love to watch them roll.
Saturday, 08 January 2005 01:27:11
So I was watching Troy today, mostly for the eye candy (Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, and Peter O'Toole, yes I said Peter O'Toole), and I was struck by the similarities between Hektor and Faramir in LotR (the book, not the movie). They are both exceptional warriors and great leaders (their men love them and follow them because of that love, not fear), but only fight to defend their country and their family. They do not enjoy fighting in and of itself and would be happier if they never had to draw sword again and could live in peace. I can easily hear Hektor saying "...I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend..." which is my favorite quote of Faramir's. Granted, I'm only halfway through The Iliad so I don't know if the character of Hektor is the same in the poem as in the movie. We all know how completely things can get changed around in the transition from the page to the screen (Exhibit A being what happend to Faramir's character in the movies), but at least between the Hektor of the movie and the Faramir of the book, there seem to be many parallels. No wonder I love them both.

"Just once, I'd like things to go according to the gorram plan." Okay, I got good news and bad news. Good news: I am going to make BWAH! available for download in the very near future! This means it is free! Bad news: The reason being is I can not find a competent local printer :disappointed: to do what I'd like, sooo fans will have to accept whatever quality they can print themselves, most likely with no printed backs on the cards. This means that you will have to keep seperate the (now 4) different types of cards (character, profession, action and health) :banghead:, which isn't a big deal, I guess. Also, it means I need to find webspace to host the game so it can be downloaded, as well as convert the rules into an easily printable downloadable document such as a .pdf file. I will, however, post the card backing as well, so anyone who is savvy enough and wants to try can print them that way. I do recommend that if you have access to color laser printer and glossy cardstock, that is the way to go. The cards are so very pretty when printed that way. It just makes me sad I can't provide the product as I envisioned it. :crap: Que sera, life is a tchen wah and then she steals your ship. :blast: Any questions or comments, feel free to email me at tenthcrewmember@gmail.com and put BWAH! in the subject header. Thanks! Just hang on a little longer... TCM

*thumps head against wall repeatedly* Somtimes spam filtering can be a bad thing. The reminder to renew my domain was sent to my trash. So I forgot that it was that time of year. My domain registration expired, taking my site and email with it. *thumps head a few more times* I caught it pretty quick, but the damage is done. it'll be a few days before it gets back out there. hope no one emails me anything important. stupid, stupid, girl!

To spend a couple days at the airport driving the jetway........because I want to be able to say i've driven a building. Fly off in a space ship while screaming over the space-loudspeaker "Damn you devil woman!" (maybe not so do-able yet, but I've already done the one with the driving off in my car screaming at the devil woman, and the space ship one looks a lot more fun) Have a T-shirt that says "I go to sleep at night thankfull the world is unfair, because if it were fair, all the horrible things that happen to us would be deserved." (ok, it may have to be a wierd kind of sweater for that to fit, but its kinda part of a funny story). More to come......

ok people, how much do you realy know about your friends? your family? other browncoats? well here is a little about the quagmire that is glowyrm. I read, if it has words, I read it. I embroider, I sew period costumes (and wear them) I love teddy bears and kittens. Does this change the fact that im also into off-road rally cars, pannel beating and wouldnt be caught dead in a 'fashionable' modern dress or skirt. NO GORRAM WAY!!! I have a fear of needles and yet im proud of my tattoos,Im into Sci-fi and Fantasy yet i can still discuss politics, religion and sex at any family gathering... lol... i have staunch views on terrorism and terrorists and yet by definition i live in a country that OPENLY ENCOURAGES TERRORISTS AND TERRORIST ACTIONS. in the perfect world, i would live with my children because i wouldnt be mentaly ill, and yet one day spent with my kids is far more valuable to them than all the time that we used to have when we all lived together. 'every man is an island' and every woman must also be one, its the bridges we build between these islands that prove who we are and what we are worth. our everchanging contrasts as people and individuals make us who we are. I have a job interview on Wednesday morning. I am excited, but so very nervous! I really need this job. More than that I really want this job. I mean imagine getting paid to play with kids all day long. I know some may think me insane, and it's true, I am very much so... However, I already do this on a part time basis at a day care and love it! So, I have the experience (lots and lots of it), but I always get so freaked out during interviews and I DO NOT want to mess up this opportunity. The best part is if I happen to get it, I can escape this hell that is also known as the graveyard shift. So, I need advice, how can I get through this interview without puking (which I am pretty sure would not be impressive) and generally screwing it all up?
Tuesday, 11 January 2005 06:33:19
Yes, it's nerdy. And yes, most of them suck. And no, mine is probably not a whole damn lot better than that whole school of Terribly Fangrrl Silly Quizzes. But I decided there were not enough, and so I made a selector. This allowed me to not have to put 9 answers to every question in very obvious ways so that you really knew exactly who you were responding as in every individual question, which is the thing that irks me the most about the general population of quizzes. So. Here is my contribution, enjoy.

Hello all! I'm new to fireflyfans.net but I've been a fan of the show since the first episode aired on Fox (the morons who deliberately killed the show). I've known about this site for awhile and periodically check in to find about the movie, so I was saddened to see it pushed back but am still really excited about the fact that it is in fact coming out! But mainly I joined today so I could post a fanfic challenge to all the people who write Firefly fanfics. I don't write anything myself (I wouldn't inflict such horrors on y'all!), but I do love to read it, and I especially enjoy the mental juggling that must occur for a truly good crossover fanfic to really thrive. Some friends of mine over at livejournal who are fans of both Firefly and Smallville and who also enjoy good crossover fanfics think it would be awesome if anyone out there who writes Firefly fanfic who loves Firefly and also the show Smallville would favor us with a crossover fic or three. We've seen (and loved) other crossover fics from Joss-universes with SM but have never heard of one from the Firefly world and think that just needs to be remedied. So what do y'all say? Any brave, intrepid souls out there familiar with both shows who'd be willing to give a crossover fic a whack? Please let me know here or run by and post to me at my livejournal page (go to

Cheers, young lady, for keeping my place. Only three more days of work to go... [edited] then they gave me 800 envelopes to fill and send out, and all that goodwill evaporated. BUT! proof that there is karma [edited] Plus - last night I met 6 new people, who had not only heard of Firefly, but loved it - and also understood the d'Artagnan obsession. It's not often that happens. It would be in my last week in this city though. If I didn't still have 300 of those envelopes to go, things would be going quite well...

I found myself really wanting to write in my blog today. However, due to the complete lack of drama in my life right now, I have nothing to write about. I decided to start watching the Highlander show in its entirety starting with Season 1, disc 1. What can I say? I always was a sucker for Adrian Paul's big brown eyes. He's so dreamy...Not as dreamy as Fillion of course...ahem. Anyway, so now I'm bored. I'm actually looking forward to school starting. To JPT: Ashampbanyanya!

Ok here's the low-down, I play Ragnarok Online, On the Australian servers, less lag, and people who are on at the same time as me. My newest Charter i made (You can have 3 At the moment) is an Acolyte (Healer) called Arc-Angel, I rebuilt him as before, he wasn't that good, wasn't worth Finishing...I Joined a Guild with the Old Arc, and becouse of that i got allowed back in as the new Arc. Everyone else is lvl 70+, I'm lvl 51...The hardest range for my job to level is 51-60, and guess where i am....right at the start of the Hard leveling. Tonight i asked my guild leader, if he could Help me kill a few monsters, when he was free, He would just mostly heal and stop the monster from killing it's self. First he didn't reply, but replyed to a question by another person later on. I asked if he answered my question, to which he simple puts, "NO" I ask, "No To the answering the question, or no to the helping me" He said to both....no Reason for that either...the way he said it made it sound rude. I know he has to level him self, and that i need to level alone, But I am at the stage where leveling alone is not the answer, i've told my guild that and asked for help from EVERYONE in my guild...alas, no one answered me...No simple "No, sorry, busy" just nothing...and contuine what they were doing. I am really feeling left out as Everyone is Leveling together, Killing Boss monsters (MVP's) and i'm left alone, wasting Zeny (The money used in RO) on Healing items so i don't die...If they just get me to lvl 60 i will be happy and i'll be able to level solo, but i can't solo atm...I killed 25ish monsters and only got 12.5% Experance Points...I would party up with some random people around my level but no one wants to party with an Battle Aco ( I'm pre monk, thus my heal is very bad, and Aco's are healers) i just need to let of some steam...

ok, so i was all prepped and ready to do the whole interview this morning. it's a no go. at least until friday. apparently, the interviewer didn't think that i was important enough to risk life and limb to get into town. i mean really what's a little freezing rain and crappy back*ssward roads, really? great now i get to be nervous for another 2 freakin' days. i guess i should just be greatful that i have more time to prepare.... but im not :crap: i just wanted it to be over.

i think i had noticed before but forgot. husband pointed out last time we watched that the mud planet... jaynes town, everything, including the guitar was clay. very cool. this past weekend i did the third weekend of beta at guild wars. that was fun. but i didn't really like doing it alone. almost made it to lvl 6. right now i'm actually listening to some classical music on the radio. catching stuff up on the web. (updating logs, public calendars, checking email) it's weird how sort of dependent you get on tv. before, to waste time i could pop on the tube and catch some news. but when you have no reception on the tv. your options are radio, which just isn't the same, there's no cnn. or i can pop in a dvd. i luv firefly, but damn, i'm gunna know it word for word if i keep watching it. i've watched most of my kung fu movies. last night i was watching the extras on the HERO dvd. watched kill bill 2 (saw the first, but don't have it on dvd yet), and the extras...twice. i'd like to watch lilo and stitch again, but i am so sappy right now, i think the ohauna part would make me cry. on top of all this i am sorta quiting cigarettes. so i'm almost a basket case. message me if anyone likes to waste time at yahoo playing literati. if you have gaim- try conejaesposa . my yahoo id isn't seeming to work, prob, a firwall tweak i don't feel like screwing with....enchantedsarda on yahoo.

i've been eatting real mre's while my husband is gone. i felt the one i ate yesterday, a little. today, i am feeling this tohher one more. sure hope i am not poisoned. there was not a noticable date of expiration on the packages. i bought them a coupl years ago but i dunno how old they were when i bought them. oh well. have one more to eat tomorrow evening. should i or shouldn't i? there's only about 3 servings of special instant coffee left, 2 cocoas. almost 4 full days before he returns. don't want to drive his car to the store, it just feels very uncomfortable to drive. not to mention it hasn't been changed over to the new state tag, so i am concerned about getting stopped. had a freaky phone call this evening. i said hello and no one answered. said hello again and it sounded like they said it at the same time. then said hello again and it again sounded like they said it at the same time. but it also sounded like it was a recording of me. earlier someone called asking if i had called about buying land. yesterday someone called from an animal shelter insisting i'd adopted a dog. W - E - I - R -D i'm just not convinced everything is clay. (in the jaynestown episode) i don't see what my husband saw in the guitar. but yeah, it looked like bottles and cups were clay. my eyes were getting too fuzzy to be sure of anything else.

Writing a good and honest thread subject may take you a few seconds more, but saves lots of time for all the flans who read this site. Also, it'll saves Haken bandwidth (money). All I'm asking for is some common sense and decency, see

Okay, so I haven't posted in a long time. Had other things going on (like looking for work). But, that was then, and this is now. I picked up a 10 day job, and this is good, and it towards my box office fund so I can pay for a ticket to "Serenity". A certain Carley Simon song keeps running through my head, "Anticipation! Making me wait!" Overall, I would like to see a delay and have a quality movie rather then a rush job just to make an early release date.

I did something rather wonderful yesterday. I ordered broadband. But Stuart, I hear you all gasp, broadband? Surely an IT guy like yourself would have wanted broadband years ago and would have been a real veteran of the system by now. I reply with sparks flying from my teeth as I grind them: "Yes, I should have had it years ago but BT..." And then you understand, it is British Telecom who have denied me this dream for so long, taking a decade to do what other countries did in a year. But now, finally, they have dropped their line limits that they had maintained for six years for no apparent reason and have activated my exchange. Now all I have to do is wait the ten working days that they add on for no good reason and I will have access to online gaming, downloads, having the treehouse thread load in less than a minute, etc, etc, etc. I'd be crying from happiness if I wasn't dead inside from all the times technology supplied by big corporations has betrayed me. I just wish this had happened 7 years ago.

i can't do it cap't. i was churning and stuff last night. not gunna do the last one. haven't thrown it away yet. thank you so much for keeping me company...rat, chosen1, ebo. i know it doesn't seem like much...but when you're in a town where you know absolutely no one...being able to read a few comments is not so lonely. i made cookies today, with mini m&m's and walnuts. they are so good. i am so glad at the very least, i can cook, not burn things. when i was a teenager, i forgot about some hotdog water i left to boil once. it boiled dry. my parents got home, stepfather bitched me out about how i coulda burnt the house down. i still forget about boiling water. yes, with all the times i have watched ff i really SHOULD know all the words. it really isn't as much fun watching by myself(for me). i never realised that until yesterday. i mean i will probably pop in a dvd within the next hour to bide some more time. last night i handwashed socks and other underwear...that's how bored i am. i couldn't play at yahoo because the mre had me making too many trips to the bathroom. oh, and i had one cigarette for the evening (for the whole day). i think that's pretty good.

ALRIGHT! A consulting company I've worked with in the past confirmed that I am on a 10 day software install, that probably will be extended to a month! And it pays more than unemployment insurance!!!!! Thank you St. Jude. Now, if I can parlay it into something more perm like, that would be great!. Well, 6 1/2 hours before I have to make a good impression. I'm going to have to run someclothes through the laundry. Speaking of which, is there a washer/dryer on Serenity? Hum....

i figured it'd be easier to get another messenger acct than to have to put people through typing 'conejaesposa'. so, it's syrynmuerte and i have a firefly peep catagory. had the safer meal, pork and gravy atop no-egg egg noodles. reminded of OIS: no egg in it, is it still considered an egg noodle made hot cocoa last night from dove dark promises and some hershey's dark chips. it was so dark i swear, it ate through my throat. contemplating. do i make the last batch of cookies. (oatmeal, choc chip and walnut) today or wait til sunday to make them. yeah, think i'll wait. tomorrow will be my busy day, at an all day meeting. can't believe i finally move out here and patiently anticipate a balloon festival(hot air), it comes and i can't go because i don't have my car. and congrats to the saturn probe(cassini/hugyen), it made it! listening to the classical music that comes on after npr. had gotten to where i looked forward to the newspaper i never ordered being plopped on my front yard. didn't get it today :-( have a log elsewhere but i think i'll take a break from it the next few days. and have a local log for where i live, but no one seems to be on in this area. (they mostly just use on-line for email and research)

I have to preface this by saying that until this moment, I didn't actually own Firefly. I only saw it for the first time in late October after a friend had sent me his DVDs to watch. Then when my brother asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I said Firefly! I prepared to patiently wait until Christmas, knowing that Firefly was on its way and I would be able to watch it over and over and over soon. It started getting close to Christmas, but no package arrived. I figured that he had probably had it delivered to home, since I go home for Christmas every year. I go home, but still no package. I talked to my sister-in-law on Christmas Eve, and she said they had ordered my present a while ago and had had it shipped to Mom and Dad's address because that's where I would be. I pass a couple more days at home before I have to go back, but it never arrives. So I go back to Bozeman disappointed. A week after Christmas my mom calls to tell me that a package from Amazon just arrived. Since I was planning on going home the next week anyway, I told her to just hang onto it rather than make them pay to have to send it down to me. Now we're coming up on the me being stupid part. Montana got one heck of a winter storm on Wednesday and Thursday. I had planned on leaving Thursday after work, but Mom vetoed that and made me wait to come by daylight. So today I leave Bozeman to go home. It's about 160 mile drive. The roads are not the greatest, to put it mildly. About a half dozen times along the way, I say to myself, "This is ridiculous. I should turn around and go back before I end up in the ditch." But then the devil (or angel, or River) on my other shoulder reminds me that Firefly is waiting for me at home. And like a carrot dangled before the mule, the idea of watching Firefly tonight is enough to keep me going. To make a long story short (too late!), my ferret and I made it home in one piece, and I opened my package to find that not only did my brother get me Firefly, he also got Shaun of the Dead too! This is going to be a great weekend.

I could never get into the old one, but the new one has sucked me in. I tried watching "Lost," I tried watching, I dunno, whatever else has popped up this season (the 'Stargate' series) and I just can't get into it. Plot points fly by for no reason, characters come and go for no reason........ it's like watching "Enterprise." I don't care that stuff blows up; the story is lame. "BSG" impressed me with the pilot, the two regular-series episodes tonight seemed to hold together as well. The second was directed by Marita Grabiak, who also directed the Firefly episode "Jaynestown." The sense of paranoia hangs around the edges, and there's a definite structure, so you know who has to make the decisions, and you recognize who to watch out for. We're only just now getting to the mechanical Cylons... and they're freakin' scary. The writing (and the acting) aren't QUITE what "Firefly" was/is... there is only one Joss Whedon, and the creators of "BSG: The Remake" aren't that. But Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell are so very good, and Katee Sackhoff is so very blah, it kind of evens out. Worth watching, SO far, but I'll keep my eye on it. Even a hit like "Desperate Housewives" started to fuzz its characters by the first half-dozen episodes, and I got lost on "Lost" by episode two, because it was unreasonable of the show to not introduce EVERY survivor during episode one. That's sloppy. "BSG" is neat. Far far better than the "Dune" miniseries(es), and worth getting into, 'specially cuz it seems it's going to run a few episodes longer than "Firefly" (blah). (qs)

....What about that which hurts like a tamahde!!! Good gawd, my right hand's pinky is still in incredible amounts of pain! I was workin' on my VW bus this morning in about 43 degree weather (mistake one) and I was trying to knock the ball joint's bolt out so I could adjust it. When it broke loose, my hand slammed into the frame, brusing the crap out of my pinky and cutting it slightly. Wow, there just are words to describe the pain I felt. All I remember in hindsight was a loud clunk and yelling OW followed by imaginary Chinese swear words (I kid you not...this is how Firefly has influenced my life!). Two hours later, some Neosporin, and a band aid later the adjustment's been made and I'm sitting at home typing up this blog and it still hurts. Oh my gawd does it hurt! I don't think it's broken; I can bend it. But it almost makes me shiver when it throbs! If the codes work right...here's a pic of it about 10 minutes after it happened. Sorry for the blurr. And there's also a picture from about three minutes ago.

I've long been lurking the serenity movie site, occasionally posting here & there. I watched Firefly when it was on Fox, what bliss, heh. Mourned its passing, cheered when it came out on DVD, hoorahed when I heard that the movie was coming out. Well, uh, I have my DVD's to carry me till the movie arrives.

couldn't hardly get any sleep last night. noticed i'd probly gotten a little lean while the man was gone (pining) and for the fact that i food poisoned myself this week from stuff. i thought about the food that was on the show (apples, strawberries, everything in shepherds meal, wife soup, protien (including protein cake), canton food, saffron meal, ice planet, good dogs (i got something that looks like that-i'll have ta do up a recipe) -and i looked at the recipe section here, just now). anyways. back when i had tv and watched survivor and bigbrother, i'd always thought, what a great idea for a diet- living off pb and j; or the whole rice, coconut and banana thing. so now i started thinking about a firefly menu until the movie comes out. decidedly salivating for the good dogs now. when we moved, i brought chop sticks for myself and regular silver ware for my man. learned how to use them when i was about 6 or 7. look forward to having a stick collection one day. sad i don't live near a place with a variety of sticks :-(

Quoting Jubal: "with the exception of one deadly and unpredictable midget, this girl is the smallest cargo I've ever had to tranport, yet by far the most troublesome." at this point, he's had to walk around a ship, subdue a preacher, talk about his mom. He has been on the ship for what cant be more than a couple hours. Something tells me that a bounty hunter of Jubal's caliber would run into a lot more dangerous scenarios than this one. I doubt river has even come close to being that big of a nuisance. Of course, he ends up on the drift, so maybe that was just foreshadowing or something.....I just thought it was interesting

Well, let me start by saying the finger is feeling much better. Sorry for the freakout the other day. It's still a little tender, but it didn't end up looking as bad as I expected it would. Now here's an observation from a high school teacher about the need for simple logic classes in school. I gave an assignment for students to observe a location for five days straight at about the same time everyday in hopes they'd start noticing patterns in human behavior and so forth. As we're coming up to the due date, a couple students (without any hesitation) actually ask me point-blank if they can make up some of the information in their observation logs. Okay, now wouldn't it stand to reason that now that you've asked me, even if I say no, that I will be suspect of your work? Kids just don't remember the lessons we learned...don't ask, just do it, and with any luck the teacher won't notice! Heck, I had a paper in 11th grade history that required 10 sources. I made up 5 of them and the teacher never called me on it. Kids, be smart...work the problem out on your own instead of asking the teacher if you can cut corners on your project! *sigh* -Taylor

I had nightmares last night. I couldn't shake them. I got out of bed this morning thankful to be free of them. It was Serenity. Our beloved BDM. It was openig day and I was excited. Each of the dreams had the same set up, I'm at the movie theater, so are lot sof people, and Serenity is making a big show of it. In the first one, the audience was led to the wrong screen and forced to watch Battlefield Earth. The next, had a mad gunman shooting all the popcorn buckets and spraying pop all over the theater. The third one was bizarr to say the least. The bathrooms had been moved into the Serenity theater. People began filing in and urinating on the seats--while we were enjoying the film. The last, was the most disturbing, I was there and I though it was finally going to be okay. I was watching the movie when I notice I was bleeding. I had a stomach wound. No one would help, because all the Browncoats had disappeared to be replaced by folks from my school days. They began to taunt me. Matt LeBlanc locked the doors and wouldn't let me leave. Since they wouldn't let me seek medical help, I hoped to be able to watch the rest of the movie. Alas! I passed out from blood loss with fifteen minutes to go.

On the Rick and Bubba show, they went on criticizing Angelina Jolie for the better part of 10 minutes. Calling her every immoral name there is, they started off by saying she was satan's right hand, and they brought up her adoption of "one of them foreign children". This is why people think of the south as one giant redneck in-bred family. They even went as far as to discredit Billy Bob Thornton because he was married to her. These individuals can probably speak on many subjects with intelligence, but Angelina Jolie? She has done more good with her fame than 2/3's of the rest of hollywood put together. I felt sad, and I had to turn off the TV

Briefly. Middle Son (hereinafter referred to as, "Troy") messed with the 'puter (hereinafter referred to ask "Bobert") this afternoon. He doesn't know what he did, I don't know what he did, the technologically gifted (hereinafter referred to as "Matt") among us doesn't know what he did. But everything was put somewhere and I had no access to anything. I thought everything was gone. Everything I'd been saving for the past ten years, I believed, had gone *poof*. (Except for the bookmarks, which were also gone, but had been rebuilt from the Great Bookmark Loss of '98.) I was angry. I was upset. I was premenstrual. Fortunately, "Matt" was much less emotional about it than I. Of course, his user accont hadn't been nuked, so why should he care? :bash: "A system restore should take care of this!" he said, before leaping from a tall building and flying faster than a speeding locomotive. "I can fix this, no problem!" And he did, the mensch. In other words, before yelling at "Troy," I should not have assumed the worst, but instead had another coupla smokes, heavily medicated myself, and finished reading vol. 2 of The Spirit (by Will Eisner), perhaps moving on to vol. 5, or even sneaking the Book of Magic comic "Matt" has been hiding from me since getting it from the library yesterday. (It's all research, y'know, I'm not now obsessed by comics, I swear.) Then I could've logged back on (after Point Pleasant, of course) and I would not have been blushing from embarrassment for the past three or so hours.

Wow. Can't belive I'm actually blogging. The purpose for me doing so is threefold and mundane: First, I just wanted to do it. I'd close my eyes and just jump in, but I'm not very good at typing so the blog would be even less coherent. And by getting it over with hopefully it will pave the way for more and more meaningfull posts. Secondly, I've been checking out the site for quite some time now and, while I have grown quite fond of it, I cant help feeling like an interloper. So here I am. 28 year old Navy sailor and wannabe pilot (my wife prefers the term aspiring pilot) with my sights on the space program. And, yes, I do have my plastic dinosaurs for that fateful day I get to fly the shuttle and reinact Wash's first seen cause I'm kind of a dork. Last, I was curious if there were any bikers who could give me a pointer or two about how you know when you have a "wobble". This may sound pretty self evident, but as I am new to the two wheelin lifestyle (in hopes to make my wife a rich woman is the joke she hates) I'm not exactly sure the level of "wobble" to be concerned about. I've noticed a slight wobble around 70mph and I don't know if it's the speed, the road, or me freaking out cause I'm a big scaredy cat. Thanks for putting up with my diatribe. I promise to be shorter and more meaningful with my coming blogs. Droppy

You guys who read my blogs regularly know that I'm a science fiction junkie who is also the most sentimental, sappy, vintage-loving guy around. I mean, I hang onto things that the average person would toss after a week or a month. In July of '93 I was part of a People to People trip to New Zealand or Australia. There were, like, 32 high schoolers from Nor Cal and Phoenix on the trip. I'd been out of the state once before going to the other side of the freakin' planet. Well, that trip opened my eyes and wow, it was just amazing. I made some really good friends on that trip and we stayed in close contact for about two years after the trip. Since '95 I've managed to stay in touch regularly with one and intermittently with two others. The rest just got lost in the ether. Fast forward to two days ago. I'm groovin' on this 90s flashback...thanks VH1! And I start wondering what became of these other folks I lost contact with. Enter the power of Google. Within a day, I'd found all but one person! It's incredible to see what all my friends have been up to over the past decade. Two are married, one has a daughter, one works for a major organization in NYC, one was in the Peace Corps. I'm having the biggest head trip over all this. Don't let friends slip away, folks. And if you do, Google the crap out of them!! -Taylor

Ni Hao again, all my fellow Browncoats... First off I just wanted to thank all of you, from myself & my Dad, for all your best wishes & prayers. He really got a kick out of it when I told him who, and from where, they were all coming from. It really made a difference. I ain't got the words to fully express how good it feels to belong to such an outstanding community. Dad had his first chemo session last Friday. The nausea side effects kicked his pigu pretty bad from then until today. At the hospital today they hydrated him intravenously, and gave him some better anti-nausea drugs. He left looking better than I've seen him in weeks. His next session is Monday, but this is supposed to be with some 'friendlier' drugs this time. Then he has a couple weeks off before having to do the 'nasty' ones again. I can report that it seems there are results from the treatment however. The pain has lessened somewhat already, and he is more functional when the nausea isn't gripping him. When they started the first treatment, there was immediately severe pain from the tumour(s) in his lung. Kind of a good news, bad news situation. The drugs definitely went right to work, but he had to suffer through it a bit. It's a long road, but he seems to be well on the path. Hopefully I'll find the time to do more than lurk soon, but until then... thanks so much again for being there for us. -Ski

I am moving out to Ventura, CA near mid August this year. I can't wait. I am going to be studying film at Brooks Institute of Photography. I was thinking of finding out if there was going to be a premiere for Serenity. If there is, I would definitely go and take pictures. I was wondering if anyone possibly knew any info. I think it would be cool if a lot of Firefly fans showed up to support the movie. Stephanie

yes, i have gimp, and am dying to make more firefly stuff, but i can't stick the dvd in my computer at the moment. computer went kerplunk when it was taken out of storage and my video card disc is kinda hard to get in storage. whenever i do get to it (in a couple to a few months, maybe) i can make more original stuff. i love manipulating pictures. i used to fix pictures for people-take their pemples off, and sometimes people would send me a scan of a picture that had been scratched, so i would make it look not scratched. i used to have a ridiculously large personal website, but i went on vacation when geocities decided to clean shop, thankfully i have the whole site on cd for remembrance purposes. well, my spouse made it home from across country with my jeep, and safely at that! we registered the jeeps and i have a shiny new plate and drivers license! found out he'll be going out of town again, but only for 4 days this time. got a park sticker, so i can visit parks in NM for free during the day!!! look forward to bringing my watercolors out and attempting to paint on location. i do henna in my spare time, also...it's been a while since i mixed a batch, but maybe i'll have some mixed by the time of the v shindig. i need to make a cone. all the rest of my mehndi gear is packed in storage, too. :-( we got an antennae for the tv. so now we get 3 stations in, all fuzzy like. so, it may be alladin tonight. i'd rather sleeping beauty for that matter. watched spirited away again, since he brought it back with the jeep. that is such a good movie. funny expressions on faces.. finished the angry cat and chinese calligraphy picture for my mom's tat business (art for her shop)-watercolor. the calligraphy on it just reads : black cat. i hate to part with it actually. maybe i'll get copies made and just send her a copy. sent out all kinds of work apps. nothing i really want to do, though. last day of RC training today, finally i can sleep in on saturdays! shoot, forgot to get 'good dogs' meat fixins. maybe tonight when i get some henna supplies (lemon and lime).

A comment to another post, but i spent enough time writing it that it deserved a life outside "reply" I myself was a convert, though not the first time, actually. I was a counselor at Space Camp last summer, where a good half of us were scifi fans, and someone tried to get us all to watch Firefly, but we resisted categorically, as it came from a source that had much love for some pretty bad tv scifi (I won't mention names to avoid flame-throwing amongst friends). So when my suitemate suggested Firefly, I refused at first. But she would casually drop it in conversations, "You should watch this show, you'd totally love it," etc, for about two months, until I finally agreed. I fell in love, as should happen, and thus it began. I chose as my first target a girl I knew to be a Whedon fan. We'd had conversations about Buffy many a time, and she watches Angel, too, so I took that approach. I made her watch all of Serenity with me, and she thought it was "pretty good." I moved out at Christmas, to a different state, but my suitemate informs me that said girl is now a complete convert. I have been working on my sister, and am not through yet. She's a fantasy/Star Trek girl, and has sat through many of my shows that she doesn't really like. So I just took my DVDs with me to her apartment, but didn't suggest we watch them. She got to looking at the cover, and asked about who the people were. I explained, giving away just enough plot details to garner interest. She then suggested herself that we watch. She hasn't watched a lot more since then, but she enjoyed it, and I think she'll come around. My parents--oh that's the fun one. My dad is a big action/adventure fan, and also a huge Indiana Jones fan, and the one who got us into Star Trek, so I knew he'd love the show. But he doesn't like suggestions very much of what he'd like. Doesn't take recommendations very well. What he does love, though, is family time. So I casually mention that I'm going to go buy the box set, and I may watch it in the living room, if he wants to come watch with me. I didn't even bother with my mom, cause it didn't seem like her kind of thing. But she walked in and out during the first few episodes. I am proud to say they are both hooked. THEY now ask ME if we can "watch another episode tonight." We're almost done with them all, and my mom is already making plans to start all over and watch them again, and my dad is talking about the commentaries. All of this to say, you have to know your audience. Shouting in the streets helps some, but only calls the ones who actually listen to people who are in the streets shouting. Know who you're talking to and how to approach them. It's all in the marketing. I'm so cynical.

Hi, Lurker coming out of the shadows for a change. Just wanted to say how happy I am that this site exists! I am a huge Whedon fan and am ashamed to say that I didn't get hooked on Firefly until I watched the DVDs. But now I am, so all is well. I'm from the US, currently making my way through university. Right now I'm studying abroad in Sydney, Australia and having a blast, and actually watching Firefly on TV, which I find most fabulous, despite the late-itude of its airtime. I've been here a few weeks and am dying to find some sci-fi/fantasy/comics/Whedonites, etc. I even haven't seen a comic book store in 3 weeks. So if anybody in the Sydney area knows of any good stores or events coming up, Firefly meet-ups or what not, let me know! A portion of my sanity just might be on the line. Anyways, keep up the great site. I enjoy reading all of the messages, blogs, and fanfics on here. Best internet community ever, I must say. Inara223

Or, "spaded" as some speakers of South Eastern Utah Pioneerese would say. My dad insists that he can do it, and he'd only charge $65 (what I've already spent on deductible and pre-op "cleansing" stuff). I iterated that I don't want to be cut open on the kitchen table. He responded that I would be completely unconscious anyway, so why should I care? He has a point. I then mentioned that he couldn't supply me with the subarachnoid morphine drip, but he just said he'd provide me with the pills or shots, so what do I need a hospital for when as a veterinarian he'd not only charge me less, but I wouldn't even have to leave the comfort of my own home? Best answer I could come up with? He's got to take care of my brother, who broke his leg four-wheeling some food out to some old guy who'd been stranded by the floods in South Western Utah. *sigh* It's been the same all my life. Rip a huge gash in my leg, Dad'll sew it up (unless I scream loud enough and long enough that he has to leave me alone, then I end up with a nasty scar). Ears need piercing? Why, Dad's got the equipment right here. Sure, it's a syringe needle, but that just makes it easier to pull the post back through the hole. Need menarche explained? Dad drew me pictures. Anyway, I will be offline for the next few days to a week. Miss me, I know you will.

A few days ago I was flashmobbed by a bunch of Russians on my livejournal (www.livejournal.com/users/maugwai/133344.htm). I never heard of that before. Am I overreacting by being extremely irritated. I might not mind so much if I could actually read their comments, but I feel like it's really rude to highjack someone else's livejournal and write ina forieng tongue for 40 odd entries. It was also annoying to delete them all from my Yahoo inbox. I dunno. Am I wrong? Is this normal blogging behavior?

Okay a year has gone by and I haven't touched Remnants. Probably won't. Chances are the movie will mess up my plans for it anyway. The last season of Angel sure did. I figured the Scoobies would stay together and focus on England. Didn't plan on them breaking up like they did. Xander in Africa. Willow and Kennedy in Rio. Dawn and Buffy in Rome. So I'd have to revisit most scenes I've already written. The idea was to make vignettes that would meld together into an ongoing plot but, it's just more hassle than it's worth. I don't like fanfic that steers too far away from canon, and I was guilty of that myself. Sorry about that. I am working on a Firefly story. Not sure if I'll ever finish but I want to finish it before I post it. It won't have much to do with Remnants. If anyone has any specific questions about Remnants they want me to try to explain, feel free to email me. zachsmind@yahoo.com is the addie.

Okay, I got a new theory. Wash threw the part in the junkyard on Ariel, cuz it reminded him of the trouble they had in Out of Gas. I'll leave the rest below untouched to show my stupidity, but I still think there's a connection between the prop used in one episode and the same looking prop used in a later episode. I just got them reversed. ... I've got a theory. The explosion that happens in the episode "Out of Gas"? It was Wash's fault. I've been rewatching the tv series Firefly again. Found something interesting that may or may not have been intended but it's a working explanation why the ship died in Out of Gas. Malcolm said something to the effect of, "it was the catalyzer. A nothing part until you ain't got one and then apparently it's everything." Kaylee wasn't able to fix it, because the problem with it was something inside the device which rarely ever blows up the way it did. We're led to believe most ships never have a problem. The captain of the ship that comes to Mal's 'rescue' after a fashion didn't readily believe that such a nothing part could be such a problem. That's because most ships don't have a catalyzer that's been thrown across a junkyard to bounce off a derelict ambulance shuttle. In the episode "Ariel" there's a scene where Kaylee and Wash are digging around in the munincipal dump yard that Saint Mary's hospital uses for its mechanical waste disposal. Kaylee's picking up parts that she can use for their planned hospital robbery, but she's also no doubt looking for parts for Serenity herself. "Ooh! Synchronizers!" That's where they find the ambulance shuttle. Wash finds it quite by accident. He picks up some random part, throws it across the junkyard and the thing bounces off the shuttle. Wash then looks back at Kaylee with a stupid grin on his face. We never see it, but it's perfectly plausible that Kaylee later picks up the same object Wash had already thrown, not knowing that its insides just took a tumble. I say this because if you freeze frame this scene in "Ariel," and look closely at the object in Wash's hands before he throws it? It's the same exact prop used in the episode "Out of Gas" when Kaylee is trying to explain to Malcolm why she can't fix the ship. It's the same prop Malcolm later removes to replace it with a new one. We can assume perhaps that a catalyzer can take a tumble down to the floor like the new one did, but a football-like toss across half a football field to slam into the metal hull of a shuttle? Same catalyzer? I can't prove it, but it makes perfect sense. The reason why the ship fails in "Out of Gas" is because of a part that took just enough damage in that throw to be useful for a short time, blowing up a few weeks later long after they'd left Ariel. So the reason why they all almost died was inadvertently and indirectly because of Wash. This makes the shouting match scene between Mal and Wash in Out of Gas even more interesting. Could help to explain why Wash was more stressed out than usual, besides the obvious reasons of course. Although it's doubtful Wash was consciously aware it was all his fault, he may have had some sinking suspicion that he couldn't quanitify. The more I watch this crazy show, the more I see. Lotsa fun on multiple viewings. =)

I was thinking recently about image problems and then it occured to me that Firefly/Serenity might well have one. Not only that, it might be damaging to the chances of the movie succeeding too. Is Firefly seen as a show by rednecks, about rednecks, for rednecks? Think about it. The "Southern" theme tune and musical motifs, the crew from the losing side of a civil war, a lot of the outfits and stylisation of the outworlds. Heck, even Jubal Early was a Confederate General. You can see how those in just vague contact with the show might think it would be angled that way. Undoubtably some of you are thinking "So what if they do, what's wrong with it being Southern?" Well, I'm sure I'm not breaking this to you but for one, the US is fairly bitterly divided at the moment between the red and blue states so that's going to dramatically cut the available audience. For another, the world hates rednecks. Oh yes, we do, the one in the White House in particular. Granted, America is split 50/50 over Bush but the rest of the world is far more decisively against him. Redneck is shorthand for thoughtless, violent, bigotted American, whether that is justified or not, and if Firefly/Serenity is seen as being "on their side", it's not going to attract much of an audience. Now I think this is just an image problem. I don't think Firefly is thoughtless or bigotted but if we're going to attract the mass audience that it needs (remember, a $100m gross requires over 13m people to go see it) then we're going to need it to break out beyond the small circle it's currently sitting in. Of course, this wouldn't have been an issue if Fox had let the show grow over a couple of seasons and spread the word beyond the obvious.

I did it! I finally got my dream job. Somewhere in the course of the next month, I will be moving all of my meager belongings to Houston, Texas. Atlanta has been good to me, but the traffic and the crappy apartment tell me its time to move on (or move back, considering I grew up in Houston). So, if there are any Houston Browncoats around here, give me a shout. Its going to be very cathartic to look at all of my trashy college furniture, and then proceed to chuck it in the nearest dumpster.

Okay, so Part 9 is done - bet you all thought I forgot about it, didn't cha? Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm pretty good as fan fic writers go, but I'm pretty darn slow when it comes to wanting to get the thing RIGHT I have a Beta Troupe to send it to yet, and then it should be posted in the next couple of weeks... unless anyone out there would like to give it a quick read-through and get it up sooner. Sad to say, I'm not willing to trust my own proofing abilities right now. I've been staring at this piece WAY too long. Before you answer, I have to have your Promise that you'll keep the ending to yourselves, until I post. The Promise has to come first. Any takers? Send me your e-mail at channain@yahoo.com.

I try to pop in on Fridays specifically for this, and some have taken it upon themselves to carry on the celebration in my absence. And then there's those who haven't been around to hear the definition and are likely asking something like: "POET's Day? What the heck is that?" It all started in the small town of Starbuck, Minnesota - yup, that's my home town, although not where the coffee comes from, sad to say. Dr. Mark Zempel - gem of a man - used to throw parties on Friday nights. My folks were always invited because my Mom worked with "Dr. Z" at the teeny 19-bed hospital in town. From what they've been willing to share, these were quite the shindigs in their day. Dad said once that it was a good thing they lived down the hill, just a couple of blocks from Zempel's and could walk home, because there's no way they should have been driving. So, everybody hoist up a glass of really fresh wine, or your tasty beverage of choice - here's what it stands for:

Today is my birthday, and was feeling a little let down because I hadn't gotten any cards or calls from friends, so my husband decided to take me out for brunch at a restaurant within walking distance from our house. On the way there, we walked past a small theater where they show second-run movies. Lo and behold, there is a "Firefly" poster in the "Now Playing" window of the theater. My husband rented the entire theater and invited all our friends for a surprise birthday/DVD viewing party! We got to watch 2 episodes and the gag reel on the big screen. He even had a cake with a picture of Serenity on it. I am the happiest 41 year old geek in the world!

This may seem very un-Firefly for us Firefly fans, but what on earth has happened to Ice Cube? He was one of the OG Gangstas! There were people who down right feared him! Today he can be seen in the brainless comedy Are We There Yet? where he plays a stereotypical tough guy and second fiddle to a couple punkass kids and he gets beaten up by a deer! Oh, Ice Cube, I pour my forty on the ground for you. :( -Taylor
