I finally reach 1999.

I did something rather wonderful yesterday. I ordered broadband. But Stuart, I hear you all gasp, broadband? Surely an IT guy like yourself would have wanted broadband years ago and would have been a real veteran of the system by now.

I reply with sparks flying from my teeth as I grind them: "Yes, I should have had it years ago but BT..." And then you understand, it is British Telecom who have denied me this dream for so long, taking a decade to do what other countries did in a year.

But now, finally, they have dropped their line limits that they had maintained for six years for no apparent reason and have activated my exchange. Now all I have to do is wait the ten working days that they add on for no good reason and I will have access to online gaming, downloads, having the treehouse thread load in less than a minute, etc, etc, etc.

I'd be crying from happiness if I wasn't dead inside from all the times technology supplied by big corporations has betrayed me. I just wish this had happened 7 years ago.
