Because of a mistake, partly my own, partly the comic book store's, I missed out on all three covers of [i]Serenity[/i] #2. I have the Book cover and the Zoe cover, but I'm missing the Kaylee cover. I asked the comic book store to call me if they do get another copy of it in, but I'm doubtful. Unless Dark Horse plans a re-print of #2, then I'm hopeful. But since I haven't heard any news of that, I'm stuck searching the city, the province, and possibly the United States. I've already popped into the other comic place I sometimes go to at the university but the guys were sold out. There are other comic stores in the city, but they're all nowhere near me so I need time to phone around later. I'm now considering checking out the comic shops in Edmonton, and yes, I'm even considering Warp 1 despite how they treated out Captain. But I'm not sure if it will come down to that. Besides, I have no way of getting to Edmonton. I have thought of bribing my sister, who's heading up next week, but I don't think she would have the time to check for me. So onto our neighbours to the South. I'm Las Vegas bound in under a week and the price of comics in the U.S. is usually cheaper than up here in Canada. With the exchange rate, I'm still saving money. Thanks to some links from the Dark Horse website, I've found a comic store by the hotel I'm staying at. There's no guarantee that the store is going to have it, but I might as well check it out. Can't be gambling the whole time I'm in Las Vegas. :wink: And if none of these works, I guess there's always eBay.

i would like to point a few things out as a southern gal. y'all is a contraction between you and all. two words are not needed in the english language but then the people who use this term on a regular basis (like myself) don't really care about that. basically the 'vous' form in french or well, we won't get into the duplicity of latin. there is a contraction ('yall' would cry itself to sleep at night), and it goes between the y and the a. thank you. . . . now in the wider 'verse i'm sure there is room for interpretation! *wink* i finished "what went wrong: the clash between islam and modernity" (i didn't even know 'modernity' was proper english!) today only because i made up my mind about the pez dispensers. jayne's head is sporting with a certain hat w'all know and love: yellow 'supposed to taste like bananas' (gwen has forever scarred this word for me) kaylee and simon: grape dimatap (did anyone else drink this stuff as a kid?) wash: orange river, book, and inara: cherry mal and zoe: the mixed pack of yellow 'supposed . . .', orange and cherry tonight i think i will meditate on the songs that make me think of firefly. so far i've got *"our time is running out" by muse *"shh" by frou frou *"second sight" by placebo * and in a weird way "judy and the dream of horses" by belle & sebastian all for river. i wonder if "come fly with me" (sinatra or bublé) would be to cliché for wash . . . comments ideas welcome! signing off.

I'm reading a book right now that deals with humanity's first encounter with aliens... in Arizona, in 1881. It has stagecoaches, Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, gunslingers and stagecoaches. It also has alien beings, advanced space humans, all kinds of cool sci-fi stuff. Reading it reminds me a lot of Firefly, but the western stars - Earp and Holliday and the Clantons - don't know about the aliens. If anyone's interested, the book is "Frontier Earth" by Bruce Boxleitner (yes, Captain John "Scarecrow" Sheridan from Babylon 5...) and it's available at Amazon.com for thirty-seven cents. A NEW copy is thity-seven cents. Just thought I'd point it out to the cool peeps here *G*

:biggrin: ok, ok, so i finaly got with it and found me a set of dvd's. within 24 hours of having them i have seen all forur dvd's once but only the episodes. mother told me if i didnt turn the gorram thing off she would light a sacraficial pyre under my butt and toss the dvd's in naptha before adding to the flames. so i havent seen the special features as yet... but tonight im gonna see me some extras... and maybee just one episode. my other half still hasnt seen them, he has been too busy (and i have been procrastinating) so im gonna have the whole series word for word before he ever even hears the theme song. stay shiny people and remember.....they may have taken the show, but they cant take the sky from us!

My lack of sleep isn’t helping my brain. It hurts. I can’t tell if it hurts because of the lack of sleep or because I’ve gone mad. The last few weeks I’ve been thinking about things in a very different way. Odd. Is it the sleep or is it a mental snap? I don’t know. Now then, I have evil yo-yos and I can’t be held responsible for what they may do… (anyone see SimonWho’s stash of amber liquid? Pass it this way if you do)

(This is not really a blog, just a ramble about Firefly). Imagine you're sitting with a group of Buffy fans. To your left, a couple of people are discussing what diabolical plans The Annointed One must have. To your right, someone is showing off his fan made copy of Sid the Dummy. Someone has just been speaking about how Angel will get killed off. There's no mention of Spike or curses, Anya or Dawn, Tara or Faith. Because you're sitting in a parallel universe where Buffy was cancelled after season 1 (damn you WB!) and all they have is the first season to know the show by. Think of how much they missed out on. Granted, they were spared season 6 and 7 but still... no Mayor, no Angelus, no Hush, no Once More With Feeling, heck, no Angel the Series. Now imagine the same group of people doing the same thing in our universe. Would we not be puzzled as to why they were obsessed about the trivial ("No, of course Sid the Dummy isn't coming back") and misguided vision of the future ("Angel was just about to become a regular, they wouldn't kill him off.") I sometimes wonder about this because if there were seven seasons of Firefly, who would have a Jayne hat? Who would be discussing spending thousands of dollars to save a prop seen in one early episode? Would we still be saying Shiny or Big Damn Heroes? Who can say? I just wonder about these things sometimes (then curse the networks that kill our beloveds again and again).
