the true meaning of y'all

i would like to point a few things out as a southern gal.y'all is a contraction between you and all. two words are not needed in the english language but then the people who use this term on a regular basis (like myself) don't really care about that. basically the 'vous' form in french or well, we won't get into the duplicity of latin. there is a contraction ('yall' would cry itself to sleep at night), and it goes between the y and the a. thank you. . . . now in the wider 'verse i'm sure there is room for interpretation! *wink*
i finished "what went wrong: the clash between islam and modernity" (i didn't even know 'modernity' was proper english!) today only because i made up my mind about the pez dispensers.
jayne's head is sporting with a certain hat w'all know and love: yellow 'supposed to taste like bananas' (gwen has forever scarred this word for me)
kaylee and simon: grape dimatap (did anyone else drink this stuff as a kid?)
wash: orange
river, book, and inara: cherry
mal and zoe: the mixed pack of yellow 'supposed . . .', orange and cherry
tonight i think i will meditate on the songs that make me think of firefly. so far i've got
*"our time is running out" by muse
*"shh" by frou frou
*"second sight" by placebo
* and in a weird way "judy and the dream of horses" by belle & sebastian
all for river. i wonder if "come fly with me" (sinatra or bublé) would be to cliché for wash . . . comments ideas welcome!
signing off.
