A group of nearly 500 healthcare workers is slated to receive a $10 million payout in a first-of-its-kind settlement challenging their hospital's COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
The coalition of workers at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Illinois filed their suit in October 2021, alleging the healthcare facility was illegally refusing to grant religious exemptions to the mandate. The July 29 settlement agreement by the state's Northern District Court means 473 current and former healthcare workers are soon to receive compensation for being denied religious exemptions from the healthcare system's vaccine requirement.
Liberty Counsel, the legal group representing 13 plaintiffs, said the settlement should "serve as a strong warning to employers across the nation that they cannot refuse to accommodate those with sincere religious objections to forced vaccination mandates,” according to a statement from Horatio Mihet, vice president of legal affairs at the group.
Anyone who lost a job due to their inability to comply with the mandate is eligible to receive $25,000, and any of the 13 plaintiffs involved in the suit are eligible for an additional $20,000, meaning they would receive $45,000 in total, said Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel.
Workers who eventually received the vaccine despite raising religious objections would be eligible for around $3,000 in compensation. Final payouts will be dependent on how many workers apply for the money. Additionally, anyone who was fired because of their refusal to get vaccinated based on sincerely held religious beliefs will be eligible for reemployment by the healthcare system.
The agreement also sets aside $2 million for attorneys fees.
U.S. District Judge John Kness, an appointee of former President Donald Trump who presided over the case, was asked to approve the proposed settlement.
The judge appeared to side with the legal group's claims that the healthcare administration violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act when they denied religious accommodations.
Staver signaled in an interview with the Washington Examiner that his legal group's litigation battles over employees who were denied vaccine exemptions in the private sector are far from over, saying, "We have been working with thousands of employees across the country," including airline industries and other types of healthcare and private employers.
"Many of them face the same jab-or-job mandate that is that issue in NorthShore," Staver said.
"Let this case be a warning to employers that violated Title VII. It is especially significant and gratifying that this first classwide COVID settlement protects healthcare workers," Staver added.

(Reuters Health) - Voters in counties where life expectancy has stagnated and declined in recent years were more likely to abandon the Democratic Party to help elect U.S. President Donald Trump, a new study suggests.
The study examined county-level data on voting patterns from the 2008 and 2016 presidential elections and on life expectancy for people born from 1980 to 2014.
Nationally, life expectancy increased by an average 5.3 years during the study period, researchers report in the American Journal of Public Health, online August 17.
In counties with below-average gains in life expectancy or declines, a majority of voters chose Trump, the Republican nominee. But in counties with above-average gains in life expectancy, most voters chose the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
“Although economic marginalization has been cited as a reason for shifting voting patterns, the relationship between changes in life expectancy and the 2016 election results had not been previously documented,” said study author Jacob Bor of the Boston University School of Public Health.
“The very strong association is striking and suggests that the large divergence in health fortunes has mirrored the divergence in politics,” Bor said by email.
To assess the connection between survival odds and political participation, Bor looked at changes in the Republican share of votes between 2008 and 2016 as well as shifts in the absolute numbers of votes won by each of the two major political parties.
Overall, Republicans lost 67,000 votes from 2008 to 2016 in counties with above-average gains in life expectancy but gained 3.1 million votes in counties with below-average life expectancy trends.
During the same period, Democrats gained 1.4 million votes in counties with above-average life expectancy gains but lost 5 million votes in counties with below-average gains.
Counties where life expectancy stagnated or declined saw a 10-percentage-point increase in the Republican vote share between 2008 and 2016, the study found.
In counties where life expectancy increased by less than 3 years over the study period, the Republican vote share increased on average by 9.1 percentage points.
For each additional year of life expectancy gain, the change in Republican vote share was 2.3 percentage points lower.
Democrats, meanwhile, saw an average 3.5-percentage-point increase in vote share in counties where life expectancy gains exceeded 7 years.
The study wasn’t a controlled experiment designed to prove whether or how life expectancy might directly influence voting.
But Bor notes that since coming to power, the Trump administration has proposed cuts to health insurance for the poor, social programs, health research, and environmental worker protections that are all key determinants of health at the population level and might influence life expectancy in the future.
“This study confirms what we already know,” said Dr. Vicente Navarro, a health policy researcher at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. “The standard of living and quality of life of the majority of the working class of the U.S. has been declining.”

Americans living in counties that voted Republican during presidential elections from 2000 to 2016 experienced higher death rates than those who lived in Democratic counties, according to a new British Medical Journal study, which researchers said added to a growing body of evidence that liberal policies may lead to better health outcomes.
Key Facts
Mortality rates dropped 22% in Democratic counties compared to 11% in Republican counties from 2001 to 2019, according to the study, which used data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention linked to county-level presidential election data.
Between 2001 and 2019, the gap in death rates between Democratic and Republican counties also grew by more than 500%, driven largely by deaths from heart disease; cancer; chronic lung disease; unintentional injuries, including drug overdoses; and suicide.
Black and Hispanic residents experienced similar improvements in mortality rates in Democratic and Republican counties, while white residents in Democratic counties saw 15% lower mortality rates than their white counterparts in Republican counties in 2019, compared to a 3% gap in death rates in 2001.
Black Americans saw higher mortality rates in both Democratic and Republican counties compared to white and Hispanic Americans from 2001 to 2019, although Black residents in both Democratic and Republican residents experienced substantial improvements in mortality rates since 2001.
Rural Republican counties experienced the highest mortality rates out of all groups and saw the smallest improvement in death rates over time, suggesting political environments play a crucial role in the widening mortality gap between urban and rural areas, according to the researchers.
What We Don’t Know
Exactly how and what local policies may have affected health outcomes. Researchers studied mortality rates based on whether counties voted for Democratic or Republican presidential candidates, but they did not study specific factors linking political environment and mortality.
Key Background
Previous research has shown counties that elect Republicans tend to see worse health outcomes, including fewer improvements in life expectancy and higher rates of deaths from suicide, drugs and alcohol. The new research comes a day after a study published in Health Affairs showed people living in counties that voted Republican in the 2020 presidential election were more likely to die from Covid-19 than those in counties that voted for Democrats. Researchers have found more liberal policies such as labor, immigration and environmental protections are linked with better life expectancy, while more conservative policies like abortion restrictions and lax gun control laws are associated with lower life expectancy. More liberal states are also more likely to implement welfare policies that act as a safety net for vulnerable populations, such as Medicaid expansion, which has led to better health care and reductions in mortality, while Republican-led states are more likely to have higher rates of uninsured people, according to the researchers. The BMJ study is the first to include data from after the 2016 presidential election as well as a breakdown of mortality rates by sex, race, ethnicity and location.
Researchers suggested further studies should focus on the factors causing a growing difference in mortality rates between Republican and Democratic counties.

I was prepared to disagree with Russel Brand bc I expected another woo-woo "the vaccine will kill you" scare-story-around-the-campfire, but I actually agree with everything he said.
BTW I did try and track down those "excess death" stories and so far I haven't found that statistics that prove the point. That's partly bc I haven't found a breakdown of excess deaths "before and after" widespread vaccination, and also I would actually like to see a breakdown of what actually DID kill people... was it the effects of lockdown or something else? Been too busy to try and find useful stats but hope to get to that again some day.

It's a stupid study. Correlation does not prove causation. In this case, there are too many confounding factors that the authors didn't take into account/ correct for. One of them is wealth ... since the DNC sees its voter base as guilty but relatively wealthy white sub/urbanites, Democrat counties may be overall wealthier. Did they correct for wealth?
Another factor may be trend in unemployment. The (former) working class derives much of its self-esteem and feelings of agency from having a job. Take that away and you get the diseases of despair, including alcoholism, (other) drug addiction, and suicide. Also, stress overeating. Did they correct for trends in joblessness?
I've seen these studies before, and the conclusion usually drawn from them has nothing to do with "Democrat v Republican" but that the decline in lifespan is mostly attributable to stress and "diseases of despair", and that is caused by factors mostly outside of individuals' control.

There tend to be many Americans who have the mental glitch "You can't tell me what to do" but the heaviest concentration of Americans with that glitch are the Trumptards. I've seen these studies before, and the conclusion usually drawn from them has nothing to do with "Democrat v Republican" but that the decline in lifespan is mostly attributable to stress and "diseases of despair", and that is caused by factors mostly outside of individuals' control.

A wave of anti-vaccine legislation is sweeping the United States

Across the country, Republican lawmakers have drafted a pile of anti-vaccine mandate bills this year, chipping away at a foundational health practice for the last half-century. More than 80 anti-vaccine bills have been introduced in state legislatures, according to academics tracking the phenomenon.
A new study from a group of Yale University scholars found that Republicans experienced a meaningfully higher death rate from Covid-19 than Democrats — and the difference was almost entirely concentrated in the period after the vaccine became available.

According to new survey data from the Pew Research Center, just 4 percent of Americans say they have gotten the updated bivalent booster shot targeted to the omicron variant of Covid-19. New projections from the Commonwealth Fund estimated that, if vaccination rates were to remain unchanged in the next few months, the US will be averaging about 1,200 deaths from Covid-19 every day by March.
What is clear by now is projections like these, or all the pleading of public health leaders, cannot overcome the rampant anti-vaccine skepticism that has taken hold in the US, particularly on the right. As Dorit Reiss, a UC Hastings law professor who is tracking anti-vaccine legislation in the states, put it to me, the pandemic “turbocharged things that were already happening.”
“We’ve seen increasing politicization of vaccine mandates before the pandemic,” she said. “But not to the degree we’re seeing now.”
And with the anti-vaccine movement growing stronger, experts expect its adherents to grow only more ambitious, targeting the school vaccine mandates that have been critical up to now in eradicating diseases like measles, mumps, and polio.

I think it depends on circumstances.
It was easy for me to be brave. I didn't have a family to support or a job that was being extorted. I didn't have anything that they could take from me by refusing it.
I think the politicians who made money off of the stock market in the last 2 years should have to forfeit all of their earnings and pay back anybody who was forced to take the jab with the threats of their livelihood being taken away. Afterall, they can't sue Pfizer or Moderna. That's the law.
But yeah... go back to my "6 Steps" to compliance I was presenting to Kiki when this was all still early. Anybody who got the jab in the steps leading up to taking your job away if you didn't comply gets what they deserve.
I do feel bad for any kids who didn't have a choice in the matter and had insane parents though. Including not one, but two of my nieces who probably won't be able to bear children when they're adults... Assuming they live that long. God or something like it willing.

AFA your anecdote, is it possible that you're dealing with self-selected populations? i.e. that people who were at higher risk anyway... the elderly, obese, diabetic, immune compromised for example, might have gotten vaccinated but that people who were younger and in relatively good health anyway would have skipped it?
You're always pounding on about "nobody died of Covid" bc you're always pointing to all the OTHER reasons they might have died, but are you making the same allowance for the vaccine?
At this point, people's arguments have become totally subjective. People have taken stances and nobody wants to be proven wrong.

Widespread infection with Covid. Up to 50pct of the USA infected with Covid. I'd have to bird dog the infection rate of the earlier strains, since they're more consequential. Covid, by itself, can result in "long Covid", even if the infection was initially mild.
Widespread effect of lockdowns. Isolation, drinking and drugging.
Widespread vaccination. Up to 65 pct of USA population injected.
Given the high percentage of people infected and the high percentage of people vaccinated, there's probably a fair number of people who were both infected AND vaccinated.
Do you know the infection status of these athletes? I don't.
Do you know the vaccination status? I don't.
Just pointing to an unusual number of athlete deaths and blaming the vaccine is a big assumption.
And still, I'd like a cogent explanation of how being exposed to a subset of viral proteins is more dangerous than being exposed to a whole panoply. That's like saying it's more dangerous to be exposed to cyanide than it is to be exposed to cyanide and carbon monoxide and asbestos.
Maybe there's a reason, but I don't know what it might be.

Not buying it. This was told to us by people who shut down any opposing narratives. You are completely overlooking two basic facts.
1. Any opposition to the Narrative was silenced. Not just by Big Tech. Not just by Big Tech working in cahoots with our Government. But with actual FBI and CIA agents on the payroll at these firms doing the censorship themselves.
2. They lied to everyone and said that if you got the jab that you would not get Covid or spread it to others. And the only reason on earth that they ever could have backpedaled on that one happened... Nobody was protected from Covid or spreading Covid to others after they were jabbed.

Yup. I mentioned him. Early morning yesterday on this thread, and in at least one other thread on this board before that.

I also found no FACTS to support the drive for mandatory jabs, either. Since, ultimately, it might have slowed down but didn't prevent Covid transmission, and its main benefit appeared to be reducing hospitalizations and deaths (yeah, I know .. you firmly believe that while nobody died of Covid everyone who got the jab is going to keel over from it someday) it should be up to the individual to assess if Covid or the jab was riskier, definitely not required of anyone younger than 50 and in reasonably good health.

1) Israeli scientists tracked all of the negative effects of Covid to only 5 protein fragments. So, where are this fragments located?? On the nucleocapsid protein? The envelope protein? The spike protein? Some combination?? If they were all on the spike protein, that would make the jab particularly risky. I looked for an answer to that, but never found one.
2) one batch of the Pfizer version had significantly higher complication rate than other batches, which means that they didn't understand or have complete control of the manufacturing process.

My LONGTIME distrust of the Government and the people really running the show worldwide absolutely give me a bias here. I won't argue that fact. But it doesn't mean that I'm wrong.
Take care of yourself. Get evaluated too. You have no idea what is inside of you because they hid that information from you before you were jabbed, and they're doing whatever they can to this day to keep that info from you.
They won't succeed in that. Especially now when young/healthy people keep dying like this. On its face, such concerns with the Covid vaccination drive hardly seem unreasonable. The vaccines used in most Western countries have been based upon an entirely new mRNA technology, in which the body’s own cellular machinery is actually hijacked to produce portions of the Covid spike-protein,

Although I wasn’t much interested in the issue, I decided that the anti-vaxxers sounded like a bunch of total crack-pots and said so in an interview, immediately provoking an avalanche of overwhelmingly hostile responses, which eventually totaled more than 850,000 words.

In my latest article published last week, I noted that most anti-vaxxers have claimed that Covid vaccinations had produced a large wave of fatal heart attacks and strokes. However, although American deaths from those causes have indeed risen quite substantially from 2019, nearly all of that increase occurred in 2020, before the Covid vaccination drive began,

So, just to mull on this a bit...
I'm still stuck on "how" vaccines are supposed to be more dangerous than the virus itself.
My across the street neighbor, who had non-hospitalized Covid a couple of years ago, just had a small stroke. Should I immediately assume it was caused by Covid?
I can imagine a common pathway. IF pathology is caused ONLY by the spike protein, then maybe you get the same long-term effects from the vaccine as from Covid. From what I know of heart physiology - which isn't much- heart muscles aren't "just" passive conductors of the nerve impulse that causes it to beat in rhythm. (There is a bundle of nerves in the upper chamber of the heart that causes the "spark" that starts each contraction, that impulse travels down both nerves and through the heart muscle itself to make all four chambers beat at the right time.) Damaged portions of the muscle itself can create its own impulse. This happens more with high adrenaline levels (such as happens under stress, excitement or extreme physical exertion) and the heart can go into arrhythmia, which can be fatal.
So all that's needed is a small spot of damage... a small clot in small artery, for example... which can cause the heart to stop beating rhythmically and the person dies.
Again, I can see this happening as a result of Covid and (if I make certain assumptions) as a result of "the jab" as well. But this would affect athletes more than anyone since they're operating at peak performance. (Also, national-league athletes take a lot of drugs for pain and inflammation, and sometimes for performance enhancement, so there's that complicating factor)
One aspect of reporting is they way they report sports deaths. 3000% increase!!
If you have one death and it increases to 2, that's a 100% increase. If it increases to 4, that's 300%. If it increases to about 30, that's 3000%. A huge percentage but still a small number. It's suggestive, and I would certainly be looking for a cause, but that would require a detailed medical history and an autopsy. Not the usual gross pathology autopsy but microtoming heart sections.
FWIW I had serious heart arrhythmia long before the vaccine ever showed up.
Yeah, I know, I'm just a series of medical maladies.

CDC’s VAERS safety signal analysis based on reports from Dec. 14, 2020 – July 29, 2022 for mRNA COVID-19 vaccines shows clear safety signals for death and a range of highly concerning thrombo-embolic, cardiac, neurological, hemorrhagic, hematological, immune-system and menstrual adverse events (AEs) among U.S. adults.
There were 770 different types of adverse events that showed safety signals in ages 18+, of which over 500 (or 2/3) had a larger safety signal than myocarditis/pericarditis.
The CDC analysis shows that the number of serious adverse events reported in less than two years for mRNA COVID-19 vaccines is 5.5 times larger than all serious reports for vaccines given to adults in the US since 2009 (~73,000 vs. ~13,000).
Twice as many mRNA COVID-19 vaccine reports were classified as serious compared to all other vaccines given to adults (11% vs. 5.5%). This meets the CDC definition of a safety signal.
There are 96 safety signals for 12-17 year-olds, which include: myocarditis, pericarditis, Bell’s Palsy, genital ulcerations, high blood pressure and heartrate, menstrual irregularities, cardiac valve incompetencies, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrhythmias, thromboses, pericardial and pleural effusion, appendicitis and perforated appendix, immune thrombocytopenia, chest pain, increased troponin levels, being in intensive care, and having anticoagulant therapy.
There are 66 safety signals for 5-11 year-olds, which include: myocarditis, pericarditis, ventricular dysfunction and cardiac valve incompetencies, pericardial and pleural effusion, chest pain, appendicitis & appendectomies, Kawasaki’s disease, menstrual irregularities, vitiligo, and vaccine breakthrough infection.
The safety signals cannot be dismissed as due to “stimulated,” exaggerated, fraudulent or otherwise artificially inflated reporting, nor can they be dismissed due to the huge number of COVID vaccines administered. There are several reasons why, but the simplest one is this: the safety signal analysis does not depend on the number of reports, but whether or not some AEs are reported at a higher rate for these vaccines than for other non-COVID vaccines. Other reasons are discussed in the full post below.
In August, 2022, the CDC told the Epoch Times that the results of their safety signal analysis “were generally consistent with EB [Empirical Bayesian] data mining [conducted by the FDA], revealing no additional unexpected safety signals.” So either the FDA’s data mining was consistent with the CDC’s method—meaning they "generally" found the same large number of highly alarming safety signals—or the signals they did find were expected. Or they were lying. We may never know because the FDA has refused to release their data mining results.

Since Israel was HEAVILY vaccinated and they have extensive health monitoring of their (Jewish) citizens, I would look there for good analysis. What Israel did is what I've been advocating all along: the risk from vaccination versus the risk from the disease itself.

Conclusions
In this study in a nationwide mass vaccination setting, the BNT162b2 vaccine was not associated with an elevated risk of most of the adverse events examined. The vaccine was associated with an excess risk of myocarditis (1 to 5 events per 100,000 persons). The risk of this potentially serious adverse event and of many other serious adverse events was substantially increased after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Digging into the report further, the vaccine does have an increased risk of appendicitis over Covid-19. I'm going to read this report further. Also, I want to see if they stratified this by age.
As I've posted before, I think it should have been up to each individual to decide on the risk of doing "something" (the jab) v the risk of getting sick.
Meanwhile, I'll be perusing the long-term vax effects in young people. Do these adverse events fade with time? Or are they time bombs just waiting to explode?

None of my family went any further than the first booster. Most of them regret getting jabbed at all, but fortunately my "I told you so's" to them up to this point have only been for the way they feel about it now compared to where their minds were at when the government and media was terrorizing everyone.

None of my family went any further than the first booster. Most of them regret getting jabbed at all, but fortunately my "I told you so's" to them up to this point have only been for the way they feel about it now compared to where their minds were at when the government and media was terrorizing everyone.
Unless you count my 30 year old cousin who was diagnosed with Leukemia within 6 months of getting jabbed...
I'm not counting that yet. But I'm not discounting it either.

But please don't attribute every gorram disease to the jab, SIX. I had heart palpitations and cancer BEFORE Covid ever existed, and far too many of my source testing friends died way too young, before Covid. (Prostate cancer, heart attack, dissected aorta, massive stroke, pancreatic cancer ... all normal-weight physically active men under the age of 60. Maybe there's some sort of occupational risk there.). One of their sons died of an overdose. My second-in-command had myocarditis at 33. All before Covid.
This current press pile-on, scouring the globe for every single young person's death, and attributing it all to "the jab" even tho the cause of death hasn't even been determined yet is just as stupid as RUSSIA! RUSSIA! Nobody finds out what's really going on that way.

In the meantime, a lot of people are dying now, and we have a LOT of evidence of government in cahoots with media and social media to silence any dissenting opinon.
