How do you get people to pay attention when they're so distracted by advertising, entertainment, and the circus which has been our media for the past 30 years?
I dunno.
People aren't used to thinking about BIG things. One million, one trillion ... it all sounds the same. That's why people can spend $60,000 on a car and then fret about spending $60 for dinner. We're like some primitives who dont count beyond "one two three many"; diffcult to proportion big things.
People REALLY aren't used to detecting and projecting trends. For most people, they think things will always be basically the same. And people are especially incapable of predicting hyperbolic/ non=linear change.
People's life-span is short, and memories are even shorter, it seems. But I remember whne I was young things were different ... we hadn't fished out/trashed up the ocean yet, or cut down most of the old\growth forests. I have a hard time making dear daughter understand that there was no plastic packaging when I was young.

I don't think global warming is a 'human' greed problem, nor is 'human' greed the solution. And it's not about wanting to preserve a good lifestyle. Nor is it a problem of money. The problem is that most people are obviously not living in a democracy, no matter what the CIA World Factbook says. Think about it. Would people freely choose the way they're living today if they had a real option to do something else? BTW, the answer doesn't involve invoking the ego of the 1% either. We're not even people to them, and they don't give a crap what we think.

New efforts by President Trump and his staff to question or undermine the established science of climate change have created a widening rift between the White House on one side, and scientific facts, government agencies, and some leading figures in the president’s own party on the other.
The president’s senior advisers are exploring the idea of creating a panel aimed at questioning the National Climate Assessment. According to a White House memo, the group would include William Happer, a Princeton physicist who has asserted that carbon dioxide — a greenhouse gas that scientists say is trapping heat and warming the planet — is beneficial to humanity.
The climate assessment, a sweeping report issued by the White House itself in November, concluded decisively that the burning of fossil fuels was warming the atmosphere, leading to a raft of harmful effects across the United States and the world.
And Mr. Trump announced last week on Twitter that he would nominate Kelly Knight Craft to be his ambassador to the United Nations. Ms. Craft said in a 2017 television interview that, on the issue of climate change, she believes there are “scientists on both sides that are accurate.” Ms. Craft's husband, Joseph W. Craft III, is a billionaire coal magnate from Kentucky.
“There is no precedent for something like this,” said Douglas Brinkley, a historian who has written books on five former United States presidents. “Other presidents have attacked policy initiatives, but not science.”
