The concept and calculations from that link are referenced everywhere - from governments trying to figure out what kills young people nationally, to health experts trying to figure out the global state of health of a country and/ or compare it to other countries, to insurance companies trying to calculate the loss of income due to an early death, to disease experts trying to figure out shortened lifespans due to specific diseases, and even by statisticians trying to figure out COVID-19's mortality.

While Republicans like Banks have sought to shift the focus from how Trump and his supporters encouraged the insurrection to law enforcement failures that contributed to the Capitol being overrun, the officers who testified on Tuesday linked Trump’s rhetoric to the unrest. They urged the select committee to focus on the bigger picture.
“The rioters that attempted to reach the Capitol were shouting, ‘Trump sent us,’” said US Capitol Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell: “I recall thinking to myself, ‘This is how I’m gonna die.’”

I think the answer for that is simple: a low-interest government loan program to pay off the ridiculous private student loan debt. The government makes money, and the people in debt get out from under more easily. And everyone is happy, except the lender-leeches. But hey, if they haven't lost actual money, they should be happy, too.
(That's exactly the same way I think the government should have addressed the 2008 collapse. Fix the underlying mortgages instead of making the 10,000x leveraged pyramid of lenders whole.)

One thing to know for a fact - unleveraged money is always cheaper than leveraged money.

On the other hand, the politicians were being told loud and clear that Armageddon had arrived TODAY by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Federal Reserve, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), Small Business Lending Fund (SBLF).
That's why totally focused Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac got help while confused, unfocused, disorganized homeowners got nothing.
