this is too hard! i love spike, oz, and giles....ok, oz is out, cause he considered leaving willow for that rocker chick...who's name i can't even remember. not cool, oz, not cool. so we are down to giles and spike....just give me time (sly line quote there

once again, with the girls, its easier here for me. maybe my girlie hormones get too much in the way with the hombres...anyway, willow. i love (LOVE!) her in doppelgangerland, when she has to pretend to be evil (not the actual evil willow, but the willow pretending to be evil willow...ok, now my head really hurts...)

no long rants, just voting here. i already decided on willow for my chica vote, and after deliberate consideration, i've decided to go with spike for my love nest partner...er, i mean, guy vote. when it comes down to it, giles is a father-figure and while i love him, i like to base my cast review votes on pure sexiliciousness. well, that was only a short rant.

my female vote belongs to Willow and there's no thinking about it.
male I was kinda in the same dilemma you were.
Spike for his sexiness and funnyness and hotness and just simply because JM is one of the most beautiful men on earth (ok men I've seen almost naked and I've seen a few as I go to the sauna quite often *grin*). and Spike is cute and lovable too in his own bad boy way.
but now I've read your 'argument' and just as you said it it came to my mind. for me Giles was never a father-figure. not entirely because I'm way older than the scoobies (I'm actually not but I have watched it now being 28 and not when it was firsted aired) or because I didn't follow all the plotlines were they said so (have been accused of that elsewhere *grin*). just because I never felt that way or got the feeling from any of the scoobies. I always saw him as an older friend, a kind of partner for Buffy, someone to help and understand the kids were the parents did not and could not because they were parents. Willow had a crush on him back in high school. that doesn't work with father-figures, does it? he was something else something I would have loved to have when I was a teenager and that's what I love him for. and seen from an adult perspective he's just charming as hell and sweet and cute in his "sexy fuddy-duddy" way. so now I give my vote to the entirely not fatherly part of Giles. the sexy singing, the Ripper that comes out time and again, the "jogging, jumping and frolicing" Giles. the one that makes me say time and again "TAKE OFF that stupid hat!" whenever I just think of the sombrero or the mage-costume. he makes me laugh and he makes me want to get to know him, because I feel there is something interesting to know there.
and that was a rather long rant. sorry. I just babble whenever I get the chance.

idefix, you're the best. all the points you brought out about giles are so true and exactly why i wanted to vote for him (with his guitar, forget it! spike could be naked, motioning me to a bed of satin and if giles was singing, spike would have to find something else to do for the night.) but now that you've voted for giles, i don't feel as bad voting for spike. its like i got both my votes...and i like it when things work out my way 
i suppose its just the age thing with giles for me (damn my parents for not getting it on sooner!)
and you can have crushes on father-figures......although, now that i've typed it, it does look a bit wrong.

Well, I'll have to go with Willow for the girls - not the apocalyptic season 6 willow - but instead the infinitely cuter other willow.
As for guys, well I'll have to go with the english vote - since I dislike whatshisface (in Buffy at least, in Angel he's a better character) I'll vote Giles.
