A man driven to attempt suicide by the economic downturn was stopped from jumping off a Florida bridge by police using a Taser electric gun.
Officers stunned the man as he stood at the side of the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa, and grabbed him before he could fall over the edge.

So tasers can be used for good.

I can imagine him flailing his way off the edge as well so it wasn't the Taser per se that did the job.
"She said there was one officer on either side of him to ensure he couldn't jump or fall from the side of the bridge." I think it was the careful positioning that would have saved him in either case. The taser just made sure they wouldn't have to argue very long.
But I feel for him. He lost everything. Poor guy.
