Apparently, somebody DID take it seriously. Maybe even personally, but the only person that should've taken it personally is Joss and you don't see him bashing it too vehemently. Why? Because no matter how far it strayed or... I'll say distorted (no need to get too graphic) his vision, it opened the door for him to show his proper vision on TV.
So, if the movie never happened there would be no Buffy and if no Buffy no Firefly. So I'm personally glad of both. I didn't like the series, but I won't bash it. It paved the way for Firefly and for that I am forever grateful.
Long live Buffy and by extention, future life for Firefly. I mean afterall, that's what we're here for right?

I actually completely agree with that statement.
But I still think Fran Kuzui is an ass for what she did to the film (look at her description of the movie, for crying out loud!). And it's weird, but I REALLY liked the movie before the series, but after the series and getting to know what Joss was all about and his original intentions for it, I came to the realization that most of what I liked about it was all HIM. I hated the campiness and wasn't a huge fan of the casting, but something about it just clicked for me. The dialogue mainly I guess. Did anything else of Joss's original script remain? I don't remember the book I referred to earlier being that detailed on the subject. It did say that DS refused to say the lines as written, though, which is what really upset Joss about him.
Also, I realize Joss has been way more vocal about Donald Sutherland (especially recently) but guess what, he's not associated with Sandollar Productions. I would think he has to be careful what he says about anyone associated with them.
He basically was the same way about Fox, the WB (over Angel's cancellation when they were having great ratings for a five-year-old cult show) and UPN before the merger.
Do you really think he's not still angry toward them?

Ok, hold on a minute. First I WASN'T condenscending and I'm sorry if that's how you see it but you accuse me of something, then turn around and say I'm WRONG? By who's word, yours?
