If anyone is paying attention to the lower reaches of the Top 40, you'll find 3 Star Treks led by ST:TNG bunching up and climbing . Further down, House is pulling in over 200 votes a day and is making quick progress upward. And down on the nomination poll, Battlestar Galactica (2004) is also getting over 200 votes a day and will soon displace West Wing in 40th spot.
At this rate, eventually there will be nothing but Sci-fi/Fantasy and Westerns (and maybe House) in the top ranks.

While it may not be an age-gap issue, here's proof that Bonanza fans have trouble understanding what is truly meant by the word fans (as in fanatics).
Quoted from the biggest Bonanza board:
If one of us Bonanza lovers knows how the kids are rigging their computers to get their totals up, please share, even if it is by Private Mail. I am confident they have figured something out. I doubt that 1300 people even saw Firefly when it was on the air for half a season!
It's interesting to note that there is a lot of discussion about Star Trek on the Bonanza board (e.g. comparisons between the Cartwrights and the Enterprise crew). I'm positive that if some of them were exposed to Firefly, they'd get it. Maybe not vote for Firefly, but at least understand our motivation.

I've noticed that SciFi and westerns are dominating the poll as well. Not sure what to make of that.
I frequent the BSG boards on scifi.com as well, and they are doing just what we are, bumping regularly and posting votes per day, time to intercept the works. The new BSG is a great show and has a huge fanbase. Definitely worth watching, even if they are a ways off.

Gosh, I sure hope House makes it into a top spot. I vote for Firefly, House, and The Simpsons every time.

Oh my. Apparently this person didn't notice that Serenity was a major motion picture; and it made money;-) . And he/she didn't realize that folks who liked the movie, might have run out and bought the series on DVD. Personally, I've never seen a "broadcast" of Firefly; I just own the series on DVD. And come here and VOTE. And hope some day, there will be more such DVD's to buy. Bump.
Note: I wish -all- the Bonanza fans, even the one who posted the above, a skitterend day!

So I think the sales ends sometime this weekend. And I've been going back to two stores so I could pick up another Firefly. I got the last one at one store and the other store had already sold out.
So today, they are still both SOLD OUT of Firefly. One store had Serenity W/S still but the other did not even have a space for Serenity. Both stores still had Nathan Fillion's movie SLiTHER.
But the one store had a raincheck thing attached to Firefly's shelf space. I took it to a clerk and now I can buy Firefly for $18.99 until 01/29/2007.
The other store that had Serenity still did not have the raincheck thing. I wonder if people have to request that they print up the raincheck things.
And Firefly is -selling out- at Target. Gee, where do we get 1300 votes a day... I wonder.
