Why do people do that? Well if I had to guess I'd say it's a combination of a few things, how many I will not say for fear of becoming the inquisition.

First off if that when people come here they're already on the losing side, in the context of the show Mal and Zoe lost the war, River lost her chance at a normal life, in the movie Zoe lost Wash and we also lost Book and our newest friend, Mr. Universe.

Outside of the show we lost our series, and then three years later we lost our optimism about continuation when Serenity wasn't the hit we wanted. Every day that passes we are further and further from hope of a sequel.

In a very real sense everyone who comes here is already a loser. But we're in it together, and all we have is each other and reruns on DVD.

This is the perfect support network from the start, it's set up as a gathering place for those who have suffered in the same way, it was not always so, for once Firefly had not been cancelled, there was a time before hiatus but I think those who remember it can see how unlike that it is now better than anyone.

A second factor is simple, how do we greet people? It might have changed while I wondered off, but I wasn't wondering all that long, we welcome them to the family, we welcome them home.

That makes this a place where you can open up, where you can get support if you need it. It makes it a place where most of the people actually give a damn, a place where people care about you.

There are other reasons, but I forgot them.

I find this thread absolutely hilarious .

RWED was created as a new section, and the threads segregated from almost all the other sections, so that FFFners could engage in political discussions without those discussions spilling over onto the rest of the site. In this thread we have something that started on the main section of the site spilling over into RWED.

That's pretty funny.

In answer to the very first question posed by the thread - we're not just fans of Firefly and Serenity. Lots of us post here regularly and we all start to get to know one another. We become friends, in a cyber sort of way, and friends support each other when things get down.

I don't think posters here are overly attention seeking.

I plan on running for "Supreme Leader" of this thread and when I take control I shall in act large penalties for any one who feels they need them to help orchestrate all who believe they are right and ...and when this occurs under my rule all shall be OK with each person as they see fit for their own usage.
