Well, looks like I got access to one of those computermabobs. I've learnt the more appropriate name for my medic. Charley Parkhurst, and her younglin's name is Belle. Hopefully that little spawn monster doesn't go rampagin' on tearing everything down. Now I just need to learn the name of my little gunshooter. But I still need a pilot and an engineer. Those are very necissary assets. But if I have to wait another week I'm going to have to go pick up "Ship Flying for Dummies". Also, if you plan on being on my ship you must accept that you have to stay on for at least a year. Omce a little action gets going on these logs might become a little more exciting. Oh yes, if you want to make your captain extra happy, give him a batch of muffins, they are very good. Ahem, sorry. --Captain of Gratitude -Symon

OK, posting this because I'm really bored and highly annoyed by my cat. I have 2. One talks ALOT, the other not so much, but today the lil ho (and I say that in a nice way) just wouldnt shutup. From 8am this morning to..well now, she wouldnt shutup. I dont speak cat-inese, my spoken english isnt even all that good, too much Buffy my words are all twisty and discombobulated like. I don't even think that's a real word there. I ramble, I know but I continue. The point is I REALLY don't thinks are supposed to "talk" this much. She's gone now because Grey's Anatomony is on, I think she's squimish on the blood thing. Well, Family Guy is on and I start summer classes tomorow (damn college) and I need an early start...:evil: even if my class doesnt start till 3:30 in the afternoon. Oh ya, I'm lovin it:naughty:

So, for the first time ever I saw Firefly on TV!! I only became obsessive when given the DVD, but now it has returned to the Sci-Fi channel here in the UK and so, all excited and such, I thought I’d sample the “real thing” on TV at 5 p.m. last night. The Episode turned out to be the Train Job, but I haven’t yet worked out whether this was the first episode they've shown (a la FOX) or whether they’re showing them in the DVD order (if anyone knows, would ya tell me?). Anyhoo… watching it on TV turned out to be an eye-opener for the following reasons: 1. I have never EVER heard the voice over explanation for the Firefly world at the start before – kinda cool and yet ever so slightly diminishing… 2. I now understand the necessity of the “fade to suede” moments that seemed faintly superfluous on the DVD... 3. I may be wrong but am sure on the DVD episodes, just before the final credits, the word “firefly” lights up momentarily in gold – like the flash you get behind your eyes when you look at something very bright in the dark. On the TV version, this flashing gold symbol turned out to be a picture of a firefly-class spaceship etched in gold. How cool is that!! On the whole, there is something so retro and so gorram romantic about watching the show as it was first aired – advert breaks and all – I’m lovin’ it!! (eek! how I hate to quote corporate America – Ronald McD be damned!:blush:)

Robert Edward Lopez, long time (28 years!) newsman for 98Rock in Baltimore died yesterday from a yearlong battle with lung cancer. He was the driving force behind every morning show (14 of them) since he began with 98Rock only 1 year into the station's existence. Most recently, he was one third of the morning show Kirk, Mark, and Lopez. I admired him. He was a stout liberal who never strayed from his beliefs. I am a republican, but I had the biggest respect for him. I would make sure to have my radio on 97.9 FM every morning at the top of every hour from 5:30-10 just to hear Lopez do the news, and then at 9:30 to hear his entertainment report. It was the highlight of my day. He left behind his wife Jean "Trixie" Lopez, his daughter Leandra, and an entire city of friends and fans. He will be sorely missed, and impossible to replace. I know I'll miss hearing him every morning. So I'll just sign off here with the sign off that I always loved to hear: "From the battlements of the Hearst Broadcast Castle, I'm Lopez, on 98 Rock." We'll miss you, Lopez.

I feel like I am in an abusive relationship.Everytime you hurt me,I make excuses for you and forgive you once more.This isn't about the special editions(continue to tweak them if you wish--I don't care anymore)this isn't about the first 2 films,this is about the last film.Did you hear me?LAST FILM.You see,everytime I saw the other films,I was dissapointed,but I would always follow it up with"Well the next one has to get better..."well what am I gonna say now?Alright enough whining let me start the review the first hour----boooorrrring! The space battles--been there done that,you know they are gonna survive there is no danger and it's just not that fun,I kept asking where my x-box controller was. My biggest beef, was how fast he turned to the dark side. It all happened in a matter of 24 hours. He was about to turn in the emperor to the Jedi council one moment and 24 hours later, he's mowing down Jedi children and killing dozens. Lucas was heading in the right direction- the relationship between him and the council, the feeling of betrayal, the isolation, etc. but because he ran out of time it required this gigantic leap at the end... a leap that simply didn't make sense or at least was understandable. Oh! and wookies? WASTED! USELESS! POINTLESS! I didn't as much hate the dialogue between Padme and Anikan,(I swear to god if she calls him "annie" one more time i'm going to throw a copy of the "annie" dvd at Natilie Portmans' head)as much as i was disappointed with its content. It didn't progress their relationship. It didn't change or evolve toward something- toward anything. Her feelings remained the same the whole way thru- she was in love with him, believed him and supported him right up until the end. I wanted their conversations to continue to break down as the movie progressed. I wanted his desperation to save their love to be part of the reason he turned, but it simply wasn't there. None of that happened. a huge missed opportunity. Yoda is completely wrong- again (He is clearly angry in the movie and anger leads to the dark side). The limp diminutive character (size does not matter) that is introduced in 'empire' is long lost in these movies. The hopping, jumping and quick flashy Yoda simply betrays all of what Yoda was teaching Luke in the swamps. whatever happened to the idea that less is more. Just because Yoda flips the structure of his sentences, doesn't make it more insightful. "turning toward the dark side, Anikan is" is still "Anikan is turning toward the dark side"- that's what we get from the Jedi supreme master? Lucas seems to use this structure to make up for the lack of writing ability, and he uses this trick way too often- it becomes very annoying. Remember, some of yoda's best lines aren't structured like that: "that is why you fail" Get rid of the ultra silly chase sequences. phantom had the overly long and suspenseless pod race and the silly underwater chase, clones had the conveyor frogger belt sequence and the jason and Argonauts gladiator fight, and this movie had the most of all three- the opening battle sequence with the distracting robot insects, the lizard chase sequence with grievous (that was painful), most of all the annoying escape from grievous' ship culminating in the nonsensical landing of his ship. It seemed this movie had either huge action sequences of quiet moments between two characters-nothing in between. The light saber duels should be less complicated, not more. The simple duel between Luke and vader in empire was easy to follow

Admit it...some of you out there have been waiting for me to post a new blog... What? This is my flylog, and if I can't imagine an audience here, where can I? So, on to the title. As I stated in the last "What I Think, Opposed To What I Say" blog, we went to Dairy Queen. I usually go to the big BR, but, sometimes you just want a damn Blizzard! My daughter asked for a dipped cone, and, like any four year old, her attention was anywhere but where it should have been. Licking the cone fast enough to keep it from dripping everywhere. It started to become a real mess, so I took it from her, and quickly began lapping, shaping it into a managable, malleable ice cream mountain before handing it back. It was just as I was handing it back that I noticed my wife, staring at me. With her mouth open. We've been together for some time now, so I know what that look means. It means one of two things...She's aroused, or, she's horrified. I immediately become self-conscious. "What?" She then looks embarassed and goes about with what she's eating... "Nothing." Riiiiiight! I arch my eyebrow, and give her the come hither...just in time for my son to drop a spoonful of ice cream into his own hair. For a second there, I felt like a Sex God. But, there's always my son, waiting for me to get over my delusions, and get whatever he was eating out of his hair.

So, let's do "Minor Observances/Petty Annoyances" I just purchased Jedi Academy so I could play it online. I enjoy playing online, but the people who have been there awhile don't like me being there. So, I find the leader, and immediately kill him. He then spends the next half hour hunting me down everywhere I go and killing me very, very quickly. Annoyance Level: 7 I clean the house...and I mean really, really clean the house. Mopping, dusting, the tub, the whole bit, just so my wife won't have to worry about it when she gets back from Kentucky. The first thing she says to me: "What do you want?" Annoyance Level: 5 I buy some cookies on my way home. Get three out, a go to the fridge. The milk expired yesterday (I've been deathly ill from bad milk before) Annoyance Level: 4 I'm trying to watch Ghost World, and I'm enjoying it, but I keep getting distracted. And the film kinda bounces around from time to time. I miss three minutes, and then I don't know what the hells going on. Annoyance Level: 5 (With myself...Since when can I not sit down and watch really horrible movies, let alone one that seemed as compelling as this one did.) Two guys in the smokepit are talking Episode 3. The guy I'm talking to really wants to see it, but hasn't yet. I ask the other two to watch out for spoilers. They look at me, nod, and go right back to what they were saying...giving away quite a bit. Annoyance Level: 9 (I really, really hate this behavior in people)

I'm sure most of you have seen the Fifth Element (heck, I'm fifteen and I've already seen it!), so I want to ask you about the beautiful singing performance done in that movie. now that you have it in your head, take out the singers body and replace it with Morena Bacarin's (did I spell her name right?). Now hear me out. Doesn't that beautiful voice fit? And I'm NOT TALKING ABOUT THE WIERD REMIX SCENE! I'm actually talking about the opera part. This sounded a bit wierd, but I just wanted to say that that voice would fit her. Sorry if it's a bit wierd...
