one guy was telling a robot to "stop", robot ran. tells it to "turn", it stops. other guy says "that robot reminds me of you...tell it to take out the trash, it watches re-runs of firefly." gaw it would be so nice to get tv episodes...or dvd... of the 'tween. (between the movie and the original series). i still haven't gotten around to getting the comic books. zoe, our dog is growing so big. from about 7 pounds to now a whopping 30 pounds. she's had all her shots, and her and my other half are taking a long road trip to visit his folks. i'll be working an 8-day shift, so it's all good. we haven't even started shopping. i'll do mine while they are away. so when they get back holiday eve, the tree will be decked out with presents.

Hooray for Bones--->

Bones is on right now, on FoX. Two of the characters were messing with this robot for some reason and the robot was messing up the commands. One of the characters (can't remember their name) said something to the effect of "That robot is kinda like you. You tell it to stop and it turns, you tell it to turn and it stops, you tell it to take out the garbage, and it watches re-runs of Firefly." Perhaps the writer of Bones is a fellow Firefly enthusiast... Anyways, thought that was ironical and hi-larious...thought I'd share it with ya's.

Firefly in the oddest places

I was in this digital print shop the other day and while I was waiting for my order I picked up this industry magazine. While flipping through it I came upon add for this visual editing program and in the screen capture was a picture of Mal with his gun drawn! I know it it’s the geek in me, but it made my day to see it. :biggrin:

Ok so I am on a roll here with the log entry. I saw my first commercial to the Serenity DVD tonight on FX. I have to say that it looked pretty good and hopefully it will generate interest in the BDM DVD!

A Soldier's Christmas
Wednesday, 14 December 2005 19:21:03

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS HE LIVED ALL ALONE, IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE. I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE. I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE. NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS. WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS, A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND. FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY. THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE, CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME. THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER, NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER. WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED? I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT, OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT. SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY. THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE. I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE, ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME. THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY. THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE, "SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE; I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS." THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP, I COULDN'T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP. I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL. I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT, THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT. THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE, WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE." ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH, AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT. "MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT." This poem was written by a Marine stationed in Okinawa Japan. Folks...at times like this, we must remember that it's not important if you support the war in Iraq or not. It's not important if you support the President or not. What's important is that right now, there are families with empty spaces around the dinner table...around the Christmas tree. Our friends and neighbors. Our sons and daughters. Our brothers and sisters. Our mothers and fathers. We all support THEM...love THEM...miss THEM. During the holiday season, before you tear into the shiny under the tree, before you dive into the Holiday meals... please remember those who are overseas.

Long time coming...

Yeah, so I get all excited about finding this site, and make some big ol' plans about exploring and participating and being a good cyber-citizen and all that stuff... ...And then I download a trojan horse onto my 'puter, effectively hamstringing my ability to connect with the 'Net at all. So the moral of the story is that one should not ever open an email from the CIA, no matter how scary and convincing it checks out. One should apparently trust that, as my hubby so succinctly put it, "If the CIA wants a word with you personally, it won't be by email." Live and learn, I guess. Now I just need to find an effective way to wipe the little trojan bastard out of my machine. :) In the meantime, there's always the school computer lab... Sigh... Maybe Santa will bring me 'Serenity' for Yule. :) I can say, however, that the bits and chunks I've been able to get my hands on around here impress the crap out of me. The fan-fic is of a scary-cool quality, and the general commentary is insightful and articulate. The fact that it's all about this phenomenon called 'Firefly' makes it even cooler. You folks rock. Thanks for being an island in a fast-flowing river of Life Happens. Happy Holidays and stuff-- shieldmaid

A few minutes ago, an immature (probably 2nd year plummage) Bald Eagle flew by, just above treetop level! :smile: Speaking of eagles, my first really good view of the season was a couple of months ago, while driving up to Cedar Rapids (Iowa, USA) to meet with some other fans to see Serenity yet-again. As I got near the Iowa River, I saw a large dark bird soaring... and it suddenly tilted such that the bright white head and tail were unmistakeable. I figured it was a good omen for an Iowa based mini shindig. :smile:

Sigh
