I don't know if I met anyone from here in person--I had about 12 hours of panels and stuff a day. I DID make the Shindig at opening time. Dayum, that was HUGE. Paramount are idiots.
How many hundred Jaynes were there?
My vote for best costume. She was spectacular.
I apologize. I couldn't resist shouting, "I SUPPORT UNIFICATION!" But most people seemed to realize it as a joke.

Now, ya see... If the blood drive vampires had just offered an opportunity to be bitten by a famous (or at least sexy) vamp as a reward, they could've gotten even more donations!
Me, I hate needles, so... *shudders!*
D*C was a blast! The addition of the Sky Bridge between the Hilton and the Marriott was a real bonus (no more ground level transit between the three main hotels).
As always, way too much to do (beats heck outta not enough), and the missus and I have the sore feet (and, in my case, as burden-bearer, back). We did get to see both performances by the Atlanta Theater Radio Company (Call of Cthulhu on Saturday, and Omnilingual on Sunday), which has always been an especial favorite of ours.
Didn't see any familiar Browncoat faces (we crapped out on the Shindig; too tired!), but that's okay. We also saw the trailer for Browncoats: Redemption, a new, Joss-blessed fan film which will release in 2010. Looks awesome shiny! More info at:
http://browncoatsmovie.com/
Most of the cast and some of the crew were there, as well as the folks behind KNTR, one of the charities benefiting from the proceeds of the film. If they can sell 32,000 DVDs, they figure they'll have a success. I figger we can surprise 'em by buying just a little bit more'n that.
Sadly, was probably our last D*C, since we plan to move off-continent in the coming year, and we've been attending since 1994. Y'all will have to fill in for us, and come back with lots more stories and pics, next year!

As do I. I haven't had good experience with them, I tend to get big bruises that last for weeks, and every time I think of them those old bruises all get phantom stinging pain. However, if James had offered to bite me the entire time they were jabbing me and drawing blood, I may have been able to do it.

Hey all,
I am very glad you all had a fabulous time and I might even be little jealous of PR's photo.
I managed to contain my jealousy over the weekend with 3 nights of 1 am finishes followed by 6 am starts leading up to Saturday's hand in, tutorial and then basically sleep till Monday.
And now I'm frantically trying to get final assignment done round Birthday weekend, wedding and a trip to Birmingham this weekend which isn't timed great but I get to see my sister for once and finally hear one of my best friends sing (she's a pro singer/voice coach/choir master) after 14 years of knowing each other. You never, know, one day she might see me behind a drum kit.

enjoyment is not too much of an issue except for the early morning support calls but I do appear to be leading a life that Theodore Roosevelt might have approved as being sufficiently strenuous.
Not entirely my own fault but I am absolutely starting my course a few weeks early next year to get ahead of the game and so hopefully staying there!
Even my fantasy football draft had issues last night, dropped internet and misbehaving atuo pick managed to land me the Steelers D in round 4 (I'm a Bengals fan damn it) and then the Bucs d a few rounds later when my connection dropped again who even have the same damn bye week lol!

Doctroid will be back tomorrow probably. I *might* be able to get the kitchen curtains done before then.
He *might* actually notice them, or that the old ones are down if I don't finish, but after a 12 hour drive it's doubtful.

Yeah Con crud is hard to avoid ( though I've never gotten it before) but we had one of our number who was terribly sick and she kinda coughed all over everyone ( and sat in my bed on my side and coughed for hours covering my bed with germs) so I think a few of our number are feeling a bit frustrated. it would have been nice if she got up after coughing and sneezing to wash her hands and had maybe used sanitizer and had tissues instead of just sneezing and coughing on all her roomies.
But we will survive:)
Oooh Navy and Avery and Rose are sick now too??? that is sucky
HUGS thanks Kelkhil I could use a nice diet coke with lime ( sans caffeine obviously..)

First timers tend to run late with delivering (not always, but it would get you a lot closer to original due date), so you can tack that on.
I was due on Halloween, but was 4 days late.

hey now, no need for that harsh talk. Leave the nice hippie freak alone. I brought pregnant people rare candies and wore a kilt and didn't run and hide from people and cameras... I was a good hippie freak. And I've not had any complaints about the facial fuzz so far, doesn't even itch me like most say. Depends on the employer.
A well groomed beard can lend an air of maturity to an otherwise boyish facade, and so long as the hair is not falling your eyes it should not be an impediment.
(Try a trim and slick it back a bit... or go for the young Obi Wan cut! After all if you're going to be a fanboy, be a BIG GEEK about it.)
Unless you're joining a paramilitary organization, in which case all bets are off and so is the fuzz.
Folkwear Patterns (g**gle it, there's a website) has some very nice Far Eastern patterns which would be suitable for your needs. Just con a friend into making it if you don't sew. Or learn to sew and you can make an entire Jedi wardrobe and gain a valuable skill set in the process.

I must see Navy as evil Obi-Wan at D*C 2010.

Notes to self: must bring sushi (not nigiri-type, but yummy maki-sushi of both Japanese and Korean style to D*C -- no raw fishies in teh maki I bring...much less the inari-zushi.)
(Why am I thinking Imma going to have a long list of foodstuffs to try and import with me to D*C when I go?) Yes, I said when not if...

I am working with a Chicago based Sf-Fi convention called Cyphan to be held in the Chicago land area jone 2010. This con is aimed at the people who like to costume where as wizard world is aimed at comics. We are happy to offer the Firefly/Browncoats their own fan based booth for free at the con. There will be a fan based room for costumers to set up a booth and promote their group. Take a few minutes and check out the web page www.cyphan.com
I myself am a member of the 501st Star Wars fan group and am now looking into joining the Browncoats after just watching Firefly for the first time last month. Totaly fell in love with the show and movie. I am now looking to get more involved with this group.
Was able to attend the Firefly mixer party at Dragon Con 2009 and had a great time talking with eveyone. Hope to see you all at Cypahn..

*tackleticklesqueezehuggles Kel*

*giggles* Navy, you're not supposed to eat a whole bunch all at once...most folk I encourage to take one sliver and then build from there...(or red, but sushi places tend to have the pink)
Korean maki-sushi (gah, I don't know what it's really called) actually has blanched watercress and bar-b-que meat strips in it.
*ponder* maybe I should just be lazy and bring stuffs to make pan sushi -- sushi rice with all teh good stuff on top (usually cooked canned tuna and maybe some ebi powder...)
(okay, someone tell me why I'm plotting foodstuff for a 'con two years from now?)

On a completely unrelated note, I have 131 unread email messages in my work inbox. Every once in a while, I wonder if I missed anything important. Then I immediately remember that I don't care.

I'm guessing it would be funnier to someone who actually follows the NFL, as opposed to a stranger to the game like myself.

Okay, wasn't sure if the Lions were this year's doormat, although the 'getting to try on real helmets' did garner a chuckle.
