Hey all,

manic day at work but I have done the impossible (well, configured 3 machines, re-setup the virtual work ticket system on a site, fixed a couple of backup problems and all whilst manning the support phone all day!) and that makes me mighty.

Laconic? more like sneaky but does remind me of a recent Buffy, 'You ok Oz, you seem if possible even more stoic than usual.'

hope you're all doing good.

Off to play Eve for a bit as finished maths early and then sort out lunch etc for tomorrows trip to wrexham.

We tried the quiet discussion of please don't do that again. We tried the you really need to be here and working while you're on the clock approach.
Now we're on to documenting the fuckups and letting her hang her damned self.

I spend more time fixing her mistakes and cleaning up after her than I do on all the other nurses put together including the trainees. She has a bad attitude, a worse mouth, and she just needs to go away. Now. Please. This has been going on for over six months now. It needs to stop. The manager keeps saying she needs to follow the steps, but HR is appalled that she's still here after all this time. She is routinely loud and open about her displeasure with the facility, her coworkers, and her job. Her favorite ploy to get out of doing something she does not enjoy, or to cover up when she screws up (again) is "I was never showed that. Nobody trained me for that".
So now *I* basically have to document that she's been shown everything all over again.
Nobody can figure out why she's still here.
Any place else, and I mean ANY, and she'd have been fired almost a year ago. Period.

Sorry, wrong thread for venting about it.

Four months ago I'd have told her to go home and stay home, but I don't have the authority to do that. She's feeling persecuted and has demanded a meeting with the muckity-mucks. The manager would be delighted. She has a stack of paperwork she's been collecting on just such a topic.

So now I'll just have one of what everybody else is having. EVERYBODY.

That would be BOCES. (Vo-tec during the last part of high school for those with different acronyms.)

I've heard they turn out pretty good hair dressers and auto mechanics. I have not been impressed with the few LPNs I'm aware of that went there. Perhaps the good ones just don't mention it?

I got my 2 year RN degree from a community college. I was surprised at how good the program really is. It's not the "traditional" ass in the seat and they're trying to flunk you out nursing school. We had to make ourselves study, and you didn't graduate with less than a solid "B" average. I believe it was either 3.45 or 3.5... but I don't quite remember which.

I have no room to be a snob about the edificatin' institoooshuns, but I can notice patterns.

So let's see, that's a margarita, a car... no two car bombs at least, possibly a mojito, a couple of various daquiris, a nice cuppa, and a Dew.

Why am I not feeling it?

Sorry Rose that you're stuck with the hassle of dealing with a non-team player. They're a pain.

Not concentrating well today. In need of more sleep.

For the record Kelkil, my favorite drink would have to be an ice cold strawberry dacari (a bit sweeter that LAs drink of choice) but will accept most forms of strong and sticky alcohol. Not a fan of beer, however hard I've tried (it would be a lot cheaper than spirits!)
I'm a sucker for cocktails, I'll drink anything with an umbrella in it, even if I haven't a clue what is in it (even scary green lumps!)

Sorry to hear about the bee incident FLT. If you've tried the Bicarbonate of Soda approach with no luck I'd suggest just keeping it on ice to numb the pain. You mention in the other thread that you weren't sure if it was a bee or a yellow-jacket (apparently US name for a wasp! I didn't know that - good old wikipedia)

If it was a wasp sting then you need to soak it in vinegar as the poison is an alkali.
Hope that helps and that the swelling goes down soon.

I have now read all the Dresden books published here so far. There is one more that's been published in the US that hasn't been released here yet. I'm seriously considering ordering it at amazon.com.

It's a great series. Honestly. It just keeps getting better and better. And you should check out the comic too!

MsB - Yep, I had a joygasm when I heard that one of my favorite actors was reading one of my favorite books! Must have earned me some serious karma points somewhere for that crossover to have come about!

Grits - ground maize/ corn which is boiled up into a sort of thick porridge. It takes the taste of whatever you put in it, which for me was butter and cheese. Most acceptable!

Gee - possibly your other half would be less of a book Nazi if you ever gave up any, sent them to other people or to a charity shop. I think you have confessed your hording instincts before!

I'm so very tired and bored. Stuck in the office this afternoon. Loads to do but absolutely no motivation!

lol - erm guilty as charged.

I am the book hoarding king but then I re-read a lot so find it hard to let go, I seem to rarely buy a book I don't like. Then again, I think I still have my copy of Uncle Tom's Cabin floating round, which I know is incredibly historically important (which is why I bought it!) but it is the worst book I ever read!

And I get into trouble with charity shops as they are a source of books. The joke in my family was always that when I became rich and famous as a drummer my money would be blown on books and cymbals.

Oh yes, have to get back to work but hiring cars for site visits at the mo as my dodgy toe won't let me drive manuals, and I have been delivered a people carrier which more closely resembles a tank than a car!

Grits are the stuff of life.. ok em cheese grits recipe... Cook the grits well until they are a bit thicker than porrige. Beat 2 eggs well add chopped green onions, 1 small can green chilis or jalapenos( I think I spelled that wrong, but am too tired to go look) and 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese. Mix well with grits and pour all into a baking dish ( grease it first) and then crush 1- 2 cups corn flakes or similar and mix with a bit of melted butter. Spread cornflake mix on top of baking dish of grits and bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.... INCREDIBLE

Ok water and a sft spot to lie down... NV and I just laid down sod for the whole front lawn. side lawn, and back.... Owie manual labor sucks( lucky for me NV is so strong)

all you people taunting me with delicious sounding recipies and having space to grow things.

Well I have roughed out all the answers to my next assignment so feeling dutifully smug although kackered as went half hour over finishing time so who knows when I finally sleep tonight? Still, at least it's only a short visit/trip tomorrow and I can stop by at my folks and drop off my father's day pressie to my old man on the way back!

To continue the taunting, I now have to go shopping to restock my new cupboards.

(Last night, tea was strips of honey-glazed chicken with home-grown potatoes and salad, followed by home-grown strawberries)

yeah Andy keeps saying he's not picky, and he loves everything i make for him ^_^ but when it comes to snacks, shit, he won't eat anything. :-P i get something and he's like "i dont eat radioactive food" "hunny just because it's orange does not mean its radioactive. besides its something that doesnt use up any dishes :-P

Ah, we're not talking 'real' food, then?

I mean, you got what? So many chemicals that the thing has a half-life, not a shelf-life, and maybe one lonely shred of nutrition, frightened in a strange place. A nice combo of pig fat, potato starch and weird seaweed gunk. I found a pack of bacon-flavoured snacks that were 'suitable for vegetarians' That says it all...

Actually full on kitchen envy is more like it..though I am fine with the kitchen we have now, I'd love to have a big kitchen with a double oven, amazing cook top ( I covet Rachel Ray's oven) and a big fridge...

ooooooooh my house will have a big kitchen, like the one my grandmother had at her old house, with 2 sinks and an island in the middle. plus an infinite amount of storage space :-P rocked. she couldve fit another oven, but never got one :-P

Oh, yeah, got the 'fridge (big chest freezer lives in the garage with the washing machine), got the dishwasher, got the long worktop space for the big wooden chopping board and the knife block, got the double sink with lever tap (no more smeary tap handles!) got space for my spice chest, and got a double pantry store.

Then we get the good stuff.

Double fan oven (both with grill) and the five burner hob. Man, that triple wok ring packs a punch....

Just off to cook salmon marinaded in a garlic, chili and dill rub, new potatoes (from the garden) with sour cream, and fresh beans.

Problem with this little piece of advice is that you assume that the crazed psychopaths are OUTSIDE the house. Newsflash -I have my own front door key and everything.

Um allergies acting up so my lungs get fluid in them ( asthma thing) and it's harder to breathe...plus I cough a lot. Oh well rest and water will help.
