At the risk of making an unpopular remark ( I know, I'd NEVER want that ! ) what role does basic sexual drive , a need to reproduce , have to play in all this ? At the sub conscious level, I mean.
We are, after all, hard wired for sex.

We aren't, because religion. Which is culture. And that isn't necessarily all of the religions in question, because followers of those religions can actually be moderates in more moderate cultures.

And that's THEIR theory. I don't think when a group of Indian men kidnap and rape a six year old that they are really stopping to think about the message they are sending to society.
