I can't decide if that's completely romantic or blatantly oversharing. It does, however, sound very "Wash-like."Glad to hear things are looking more positive. We have art so as not to die of truth ~ Neitzsche

Here I am... We're also without power at my house (see story below). I have access only at work, and not nearly enough of it at the moment. We'll probably be heading to my friend Thor's house this evening, if the power isn't back on before I get home from work.
Other than these relatively minor challenges, we are perfectly fine and in good health, and we have some local friends who have power and have offered us to come stay with them if need be. Hopefully Merz and Decoy weathered the storm well and experienced no injury, damage, or loss.
I have no idea how long it's going to take for them to get our power lines hooked back up, so I'll only have access to a computer while I'm at work. I'm going to see if I can post for Zoe before I leave work today, but I may not be able to post at all for a little bit. If you want to contact me, you can get me here or via e-mail at htempe AT hotmail DOT com until 5pm EDT - right now I gotta at least look like I'm working...
Power Outage Ignore if you like...
When we got up, we saw a downed cable line running from the pole to the pool, but that had nothing on the afternoon's activities. We heard some snapping outside, so we went onto the back porch to have a look (we boarded up on Saturday afternoon in anticipation of the storm). The top of the tree that has grown up around the electric/cable line pole had snapped off in the wind and was laying on the electric lines, giving off lovely little blue sparks. We called the power company and asked them to shut down power to those lines, because the tree was started to smoke and burn. They said that they couldn't do that, because it would mean shutting off power to more than 5,000 houses. They assured us that the tree wouldn't actually catch fire, because of the all the rain the storm was dumping on us. Ironically, just as they were saying this, the tree actually DID catch fire - smoldering and then outright flaming up a bit. The insulation on the lines started to burn, too... which makes for a lovely smell, I must say... ;p So, we got off the line with the power company and called the fire department. Almost as soon as the call was made, the transformer (or whatever the lines are attached to) blew up, in that stereotypical blue-flamey way that you always see on the news, complete with extra flamage from the tree branch, and the lines snapped. The tree branch crashed down into the back yard and almost immediately stopped burning. One of the lines landed in the yard near the back fence - the other landed in the pool. Since the fire went out, we called the fire department to cancel the previous call, but as we were hanging up, the truck showed up in front of the house. (We are lucky enough to live directly between two fire stations less than 1/2 a mile away in either direction.) We told them what happened and that the fire was now out, and they told us to stay out of the back yard, then went on their way, since there wasn't a whole lot they could do about the power part. Needless to say, when the lines snapped, our house lost power... Wacky fun!

Apparently the TECO (Tampa Electric) gods decided to be kind to me. My power was back on when I got home from the office today!
Many thanks for the good karma and mojo you all sent to make this possible...

Austri... if you need anything, let me know, ok... I've got a pick-up truck, and pruning tools, if you need help cleaning up. Say Hi to Thor for me, and Deb. :)
Decoy, they make me go first.

Thanks for posting Damon's wanted info, Raven, and shiny job with the bits you filled in for me. but... um... where's the rest of it? Damon wouldn't have much to worry about if Feds were the only ones after him

Decoy/Will: Thanks! I may need to take you up on that. Heard from the neighbor of the rental in New Port Richey that another limb fell off the magnolia - and into her yard. We're staying with friends in the area until the power's back up (took the cats there last night... boy, was that a challenge!
), so we'll be taking a look at it and check out possible house damage after work today. I'll make sure Thor gets the message... that's who we're staying with!

Well, today's been an adventure... I took my driver's test this morning and passes
then I went to school for an hour, out to lunch with my mom and sister, came home for a bit, went for a hair cut where I got a call from my mom about an armed robbery at the elementry school in our neighborhood.
So now the police are driving around looking for these guys, I hear helicopters flying around out there too.
What would people want from an elemenrty school anyway? Crayons and Elmer's Glue?
EDIT: well, I just learned that the info got mixed up somewhere along the line. it was a house that was robbed, also in the neighborhood. the schools are in a lock down.

Welcome Melfina! Looking forward to your character's introduction. I am supposing she will show up on New Hokkaido.
I hope you enjoy RPing with us! I am sure Raven warned you about all of us 'GunRunners'!
OH, entering direKtor mode
New Hokkaido's moon {where the 'drop' is going to be made} shall be henceforth be called Gamera ...
...I just finished watching the newer Gamera films and realized where I had heard of the island of Hokkaido - all the Gamera films start in or around Hokkaido!
So, thus, Gamera is the moon that 'guards' New Hokkaido. Corny - can I get a "Hell Yes"! OK, it ain't cut inta stone - but will remain until I OR someone else comes up with a better name!
'spin-on!'
