When did you know you were hooked on Firefly?

I'm sure this has been done before, but I'd like to start a fresh list.

For me, hands down, it's when Serenity escapes the alliance cruiser in the pilot.

I knew it was my kind of show at the end of "The Train Job". When Mal kicked the guy into the engine, my response was.. "This is gonna be good".

Intake.

It's one of the few times in my life where I've actually said, "Oh. My. God." out loud.

We were already planning on watching the show and giving it a chance. But when I saw that scene, I knew I'd be carving out time every Friday.

Of course, we all know what happened with that.

Funny, I was just mentioning this on another thread.

The exact moment I fell for Firefly was The Train Job, in the teaser, when Mal gets thrown through the bar window -- and it turns out to be a hologram. Don't ask me why, but that's what told me the show was going to be special.

Of course, Crow going through the engine cemented it for me.

That moment really grabbed me (silence, good physics) & more than offset the poorly done battle scene intro, but I didn't decide I was hooked 'til the end of the episode. And I had watched two, previously, on VHS, but the picture was so crappy that it was impossible to fall into the story.

I first watched Firefly with an objective mind. I'd heard a lot of good stuff about it, but wanted to see it for myself.

The humour grabbed me straight away.

In Serenity, when Mal says to Simon that Kaylee's dead, I fell for it hook, line & sinker.

(There's always someone who goes in the pilot. It's traditional.)

It was just like when Book said 'you got the wrong man'. (When Mal thought Simon was a Fed.) It was a great twist, but a cruel joke.

Wash's repetition of Simon's 'psychotic' line cracked me up too.

The humour,both light & dark, was a sign it was going to be a great show.

I also liked Jayne and Kaylee from the start.

Although, it wasn't until the end of 'Ois' that I was properly hooked. It was weird. I couldn't put my finger on it, but I knew I wanted more.

Well, I was tuning in back when it first aired on Fox. "Train Job" was the "pilot" that Fox had Joss write in the span of a weekend and the first episode I watched.

It was fairly good until Mal kicked Crow into Serenity's port engine. That is when I busted out laughing. I was hooked from that minute on.

"May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one."

Same for me BC1. Can't remember a moment on TV that made me laugh so hard but at the same time I was thinking 'finally a show without all the Trek PC BS'.
