When did you know you were hooked on Firefly?

I missed the TV series totally. My first glimpse was episode 1 on DVD.
When Wash said "Damn your cruel but inevitable betrayal" I was pretty sure I was going to like it.
When Mal said "Don't hurt him, just scare him" and Jayne responds "Pain is scary" I knew I was in utter Whedon ecstacy.
