But children already have guns. Generally guns they use under the supervision of their parents or other responsible people. Our shooting club sponsors rifle matches for youth shooters all the time. Has been doing so for years with no issues.
But despite your statement that "I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE AWAY ANYONE'S GUNS", you ..."certainly argue against (these) children having guns of ANY kind!".

Just because I've been taking so much nonsense for it...
100/3 = 33.333. Or 1/3 of 100. 29% is pretty close.
I rounded up, sue me.

Domo: Moderate when it comes to guns. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I'm definitely not moderate when it comes to any number of other issues, but on the issue of guns; we have guns in the house, I have shot guns, my husband owns several, and I don't want to take away anyone's guns, despite Geezer's attempts to split hairs and his need to even specifically misquote me to do so. Which hair splitting, by the way, is a perfect example of what we get from the pro-gun folk, for whom it is a simple case of "all or nothing, period". He's actually wrong even there; I ARGUE against children having guns; I don't want to take away any currently-owned guns, I want to stop MARKETING guns to children.
But of course, that means nothing to our pro-gun posters.

So suggesting better enforcement of existing laws, strengthening reporting of folks adjudged dangerous due to mental problems to the NICS system, improving reporting by mental health professionals, de-stigmatizing looking for mental health treatment, programs to reduce bullying, improving physical security in schools and other public places, and even expanding background checks (although I don't expect it'd do much good), is all or nothing?

Niki. When you argue against children having guns, it seems only reasonable to think you don't want children to have guns. If they already have guns and you don't want them to have guns, the only way to get what you want is to take the guns away.

The stupid argument that "kids shouldn't have guns!!!" begs the question.... at what age do you stop being a "kid"?
Also, I present this.
She is 13 for goodness sake and shoots better than I do. In fact, when my daughter is old enough, Im going to get her into whatever program this girl started with.

Geezer, I don't recall those suggestions coming from you; it may have been a while ago and I may have forgotten. If so, I was wrong. I certainly have no recollection of you or anyone else being in favor of any form of expanded background checks; if any of you are, that's welcome news.
Perhaps you could ASK before assuming; many people own guns today which have been made illegal, do they not? Is there not some form or other of "grandfathering", or somesuch, which allows people to keep things which have later been made illegal to possess? There are ways to deal with the issue of children and guns...ignoring the mere fact that my not "wanting" something does not necessarily mean I am always in favor of making LAWS against something or CONFISCATING something. There are other ways of preventing things than going to someone's house, confiscating something and making them to be criminals... If we could make an effort to recognize such things, communication might be possible. Just an idea.
